Had my basement flood a bit last night due to a stuck float on the sump pump. Unfortunately that room is also my game room. Thankfully it's not as bad as it could have been but it's a bit of a mess right now. So far the only casualties are a few wet Apple II game manuals. Did not want to spend the holiday weekend trying to dry carpet tiles and move entertainment centers...

  It sucks. Keep the fans on them longer than you think and you should be fine. We had several thousand gallons and I did all the work but we lost carpet on three big rooms. $7k hit once it was all finished. Chump-change compared to the fire the year before.....

  From trial and error, those $100 sump pumps are worthless. I've had several floods when those cheap pumps would give out. You're better off with a $200 or better one.
