  1. I wouldn't pay $40 for a SMS unless it has at least 5 games with it.  I need 18 more games to complete my US SMS game collection. Anyways I think the SMS is a great system with a lot underrated games like:

    Spellcaster

    Golvellius

    Wonderboy in Moster Land

Double Dragon (with 2 player action unlike the NES version)

Which ones do you need? I'm sure that people here could help out! :)

  2. Pelecan Accessories makes a switchbox for switching between cable, and AVS for hooking up multiple systems.  That's what I use so I don't have to get behind the TV to hook up my classic cable systems.  And it's only $20

Where can you get one? :)

  3. I just remember it being so unique at that time, a game seen from the character's POV. It's common now but back then, it was really special. Geez, I really sound old when I say that. Damn these kids today and the things that they take for granted (waving fist)!

  4. That's cool to know about the original mouse control idea but I always hear people crying that it should've have included lightgun support on the 2600/7800 versions.  That would've been a good workaround :)

I thought that you could use the light gun on the 7800 version....... :?

  5.

It's just old rumours making the rounds again.

In defense of those who believe everything that they read (I am most certainly not referring to myself but unfortunately to a LARGE portion of our society), some of this is probably thanks to Nintendo. In the instruction manual for their games, there is a full page warning about not using your system on a projection TV. It is very prominent and could be very scary to a non-educated consumer......

  6. BTW, I think 5200 Congo Bongo stinks but did you like it?

I didn't actually play it; I was just testing a bunch that I got in to see if they worked. After that experience, I may never know if I like it because I'm too scared to put it back in the console. I'm currently awaiting the arrival of Pitfall, Zone Ranger and Dreadnaught Factor which I'm hoping are good as I love the 2600 Activision carts! :)

  7. Okay, I got Congo Bongo over the weekend and went to play it. I had to shove it (what I thought was a little) to get it in the console and I damn near couldn't get it out. Is this a common problem with Sega 5200 carts or is it my console? I've seen stuff about this in the 2600/7800 forums but not here. Are there any other ones to be careful with? :?

  8. Forget the game....what the heck is an Atarti? Is this some previously unreleased prototype?  :ponder:

Maybe it is a cross between an Atari and a Pop Tart. :P

No wait, it is the console that plays the elusive "5. Galaxiar 1983 2600

    6. Defnder 1981 CX2609 and 7. Night Drivel 1978 CX2633 cartridges.... :)

  9. Thanks for the info.  I'm not a NES collector and thought that the home version was the first game only.  I think that I do have a NES tucked around here somewhere, however.  I should pick up a "Hogan's Alley" cart; I'd like to play the game with a gun rather than with a mouse.

I saw one at one of the stores that I'll be going to (probably) tomorrow if you would like me to pick it up for you. :)

  10. I don't collect boxes but I have done the same to get a manual. I'll have the cart but wind up buying the cart and manual just to get the manual. Explains how I have 200+ duplicate carts at the moment. :ponder:

  11. Okay, I got Dragon's Lair for the SNES and it is a totally diferent game than I expected. I THOUGHT I remembered a game from the arcades that was from the main character's (Dirk) perspective where you walked through rooms, found stuff, etc. but what I got was a Mario-style scroller. Am I thinking of a different arcade game or is this just a very unfaithful translation? :?

PS I would be happy to sell or trade it.....

  12. I couldn't follow the link in the second post so I don't know what it said. Any suggestions if light water won't do? I got in a bunch of carts that must have spent the last 20 years buried in someone's yard...... :P

  13. I need a new quest so I have decided to try to collect all of the games that have comic book or cartoon characters in them. So far, I have thought of the following games:

    Taz

    Road Runner

    Snoopy and the Red Baron

    Superman

    Spiderman

    GI Joe

    Flash Gordon

    Muppets Pigs in Space

    Big Bird's Egg Catch

    Alpha Beam with Ernie

    Cookie Monster Munch

    Oscar's Trash Race

    Smurfs

    Strawberry Shortcake

Okay, which ones have I missed? :?

  14. Okay, if you're on the phone comforting someone who just ended a relationship and decide to try to stealthily play a game of Gyruss while talking, do not use the 500XJ. I got totally busted last night....I wasn't doing that uh-huh, uh-huh (read-I am paying no attention to you) and was actually carrying on a conversation and I (foolishly) thought the person on the other end of the line had no clue. WRONG! :)

PS The cat has declared a moratorium on attacking the joysticks.....
