You would have to plug them in and play them AFAIK.
Atlantis II had the night scene label, but so did plenty of Atlantis carts:

http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...areLabelID=1040
I saw those and looked at the screenshot as well but saw no difference between Atlantis II and regular Atlantis. With Atlantis II, there, obviously, are no instructions. Has anyone played Atlantis II to be able to describe the difference? There's a snowball's chance in hell that I have one but now I'm curious!

Why Atlantis and Space Chase? On the 1 in 47 million chance that it's a monogrammed Space Chase or Atlantis II.

How could you tell if it was one of these?....pawing through a box of extras.......

Gyruss
in Atari 2600
still make me wonder why the 2600 never got galaga....I love my 7800 Galaga but I'm afraid that the 2600 wouldn't have done it justice. Galaga was one of my favorite arcade games and I plan to have an arcade version one day. I'd also like a Galaga 3 which I discovered many years later....

-
This site is great for this kind of stuff. I have e-mailed the guy with questions and he usually replies in less than an hour!

Gyruss
in Atari 2600
I just got Gyruss last night and started playing it. Looks like the offspring of a mating between Tempest and Galaga to me.....

You're not supposed to send games media mail anyway. Just yesterday I got a media mail package that had postage due because the envelope ripped and the postal service saw carts inside. I had to pay $1.71 to get my NES carts.I got a box of carts via Media Mail the other day, fully intact (and quickly), with a "Postage Due $1.48" sticker on the box. I guess that the postman considered it to be a pile of crap because they just left it at my door and didn't make me pay the "Due" amount.

http://cafeman.www9.50megs.com/atari/5200trak-ball.htmlYeah, I had to clean and replace a bearing in mine. It was a new experience to me, so I posted the pictures at the above link.
Thank you so much! I'll begin the dissection early next week.

-
I finally got a Trak-ball for my 5200 but it seems to only work some of the time. Do these things need to be cleaned (like a computer mouse) and is it something easy to do? I'm not scared to take stuff apart but I don't want to screw it up....
Also, is there a list of compatible games? Thanks!
-
I love Atari games and this also doesn't include any of my 5200, 7800 or Computer games which I also have many of. The favorites and I guess rarest of my collection are Chainsaw Massacre w/Instructions, Glib, Obelix w/Instructions, Bumper Bash w/Instructions and my 3 boxed Adult games (2 Mystique, 1 Playaround).
I have not counted my games before now, it was interesting to see how many I had.
These are actually only my 2600 games as well and only a count of different games, not label variations. I'm just now getting 5200 games so my stash of those is quite small. My 7800 collection isn't bad but nothing rare there. I have a habit of buying individual carts that I need (usually from e-bay) only to win one as part of a lot later on. This means that I have a huge number to trade so hopefully, I can get some of the ones that I need that way.
In regard to counting, I keep mine listed in an Excel spreadsheet so it counts for me....

-
Hunting is pretty much a lost cause here so most of my cartridges come from online purchases and trades. I have a ton of carts to trade so I'm hoping to get more that way....

-
As of last night, I received my 200th different cartridge in the mail thanks to trades with fellow AtariAge members.
As I have 13 more on the way from various purchases, I'll be at 225 before I know it! I have yet to get anything above a rarity 6, however.....gotta leave something to work towards. -
Okay, I added a bunch more stuff. I need a number of common 2600 carts so if you see anything for any system that you want, let me know and we can work something out!

"You might be interested in getting a Gameboy Advance though... puzzle games seem to be showing up on there more often than the consoles. You'd probably like Wario Ware. "
I have one and have spent quite a number of hours on planes and in airports wrapped up in it. I have actually found some of the older GB and GBC games to be great. Kwirk is a good example. The most riveting by far (and I'm a bit embarrassed to admit) is Pokemon Puzzle Challenge. It really has nothing to do with Pokemon but is really a wicked cross between Tetris and Columns IMHO. Thanks to a fellow AtariAge Member, I now have Tetris Blast which I can tell will be equally addictive. Best part is I can play it on the SGB for the SNES........

I agree, let us all know!!!!

I was just getting ready to ask if anyone knew where I could get the right Magnavox RF adapter. I also couldn't tell if it was a different connector or a mangled RF so I e-mailed the guy with the website pong-story.com. He e-mailed me right back and explained that it needed a different, Magnavox-specific RF box. Instead, I'll break that puppy open tonight and see if I can replace the cable. Does the Odyssey 2000 use the same power adapter as the Atari 2600?

This guy sells atari games also.....ive bought a couple off of him...WOW!!!!!!That's how I found it, I was looking at his Atari games. Okay, now I'm hungry but I better check each chip carefully because there may be a valuable one in my bag.
-
or should I say the chip?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=1469&rd=1
And he's asking $9.99, nonetheless!

I just added a PC game, an N64 cart and an NES cart....
-
I think that I'm at 194 and I feel a bit stuck too. I'll occasionally get something new in a lot but I'm not yet willing to pay the individual prices for a rarer cart.
If you're looking for commons, I have a bunch listed for trade (or sale) in the marketplace. Good luck hunting, I'm in a big city and that seems to be a lost cause here.....
-
I just listed a bunch of stuff for a number of systems in the marketplace if anyone is interested.....

A bunch of Dragon Magazines from the late 80s/early 90s in various conditions. I'd prefer to sell/trade them as a lot and would gladly ship them Media Mail.
A mint copy of "Last of the Dragons" graphic novel by Epic comics.
A near mint (I say this because on the cover it says that there were trading cards inside but none are there, otherwise, it's perfect) copy of Issue 34 (Mar/Apr 1992) of Dungeon magazine. This contains 5 AD&D Adventure modules.
Things that I want are as follows:

PM me with what you would like.

What on earth inspired some of the companies to make games where if you played as a single player game, you used the RIGHT joystick? I got Wizard of Wor and went to play it...took me a second to figure out what the problem was! What are some others that were like this? I know that I had at least one as a kid but I can't remember what it was

I can't wait to get my 5200. I bought 2 "non-working" ones and had them sent to a fellow AA member (every time I type AA, I want to pull that bottle of tequila from under my desk) in a "repair for equipment" deal. I received word the other day that my working unit should be on its way here shortly. There were some carts with the system and apparently, it had a fried Defender cart as well. I wonder if this is a common Defender 5200 cart problem or a 5200 cart problem in general.....it just seems weird because in the hundreds of 2600 carts I have acquired in all states of grunginess, there have been a very few that I couldn't get to work.

Do You Collect Hardware, Box, and Instruction Variations?
in Atari 2600

I'm also trying to get all of the North american releases. Although I don't actively pursue label/box/instruction variations, I am currently keeping any that I get as part of a lot. I didn't intend to do this originally (MMF has an 02 cart as a result) but I have changed my mind for the moment....
