Your reasons for not owning any "modern" consoles?
Redcurrie replied to Room 34's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I have acquired a number of systems including all 3 Ataris, an INTV, an NES, a SNES, a N64 and a Sega Genesis. The main reason that I have none of the modern consoles is two-fold. First, I don't have time (or the inclination) to learn to use a 400-button controller. Second, none of the games really interest me. I love puzzle games so the Nintendo series is great for me. I will admit that the N64 is sitting in a box because I haven't gotten any puzzle games for it yet. I also like the shooting games for the NES. My love for Atari is also two-fold. The first reason that I love it is I have many happy memories of playing it as a kid. The second is that there is a certain beauty to the simplicity of the games. Time was spent contriving things that were different and because of the limitations, the differences couldn't be making a game with no play value but awesome movie-like graphics. You weren't going to be wowed by graphics; you were going to be wowed by a good, different game. (Thus explaining my love for Activision games.) Anyway, enough of the saopbox -
Good luck! I went through Frederic in '79 which was a Category 3/4 (It hit the Gulf Coast; I lived in Mobile, AL) so I know what you are going through. I wish you the best of luck with your collection but most importantly, STAY SAFE. No material possession is worth your life!

Actually, it ended at $40. I'm headed to the post office shortly.

I have won a bunch of auctions that contained a Parker Brothers "Mystery Cart" as in one with no label whatsoever. Every time, I secretly hope that it is Q*Bert Qubes but every single time, it's been Frogger. Has anyone ever gotten a labelless cart that turned out to be valuable? (I guess that in its own way, that would be just as dissappointing as it wouldn't have as much value but.....)

Okay, forget the power supply question. I got a rapid reply from the guy with the website www.pong-story.com. It's a cool site if you've never seen it! Still don't know what the controllers are but they look like a potential paddle substitute as they appear to be attached......

Okay, we'll stay away from the "Why did you bid on something that you had no clue as to what it was" question...I'll seek professional help for the answer to that question but what are these controllers? It didn't take me long to figure out what the Odyssey was but does anyone have an idea of what power supply it will need? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=4315&rd=1 Thanks, Laura

River Raid II was my last one. I love Beamrider for some reason. It's a fairly simple game but I can play it for hours. I got lucky and snagged that one on e-bay. It was yet another that fell into that "I think that people bury these things in their yard" category as I think that the dirt content was higher than the plastic content. But as seems to be the case 99% of the time, I cleaned it up and it worked great.

I can't believe that it took someone several hours to say this! I expected it much sooner. If I had all of the label variations, I wouldn't have anything in the world left to live for The real answer is that first, I'm working on getting one of each of the manuals. Next, I will work on getting all of the label variations. Finally, I might try to get all of the manual variations. Then, I'll hock everything and move to Tahiti.....

Okay, add me to the "chick" list. Someone said that most chicks are turned-off by videogames because they're competitive....thanks for helping me figure out why I LIKE them!

The last Activision game required to complete my collection arrived yesterday, YAHOO!!! (doing a little victory dance) I am SO excited (obviously). Now I just have to find time to play them........
-
Excellent idea! I vote for weekly as well as I have limited time on a daily basis....

Where is that located? When I click on the link, I get a "File not Found" error message.

In going through all of the lots that I have currently gotten it to look for duplicates for tradebait, I have noticed that there are a lot more variations of text labels than I even see listed here. My combat carts are one example. Also, I noticed that a number of my M-Network duplicates are manufactured in different places as shown on the endlabel....Korea, Singapore, USA. Are any of these variations rarer than others?

I don't think it is. I e-mailed the seller and based on her response, I'm 99% sure that it is the NES Power Pad.

Let me tell you how upset I was this morning when I went online only to find out that I was outbid on said "assories".......
-
Newsflash.....we are currently at $40 and holding!

Alrighty then, I feel stupid! I skip right over that (obviously quite blindly) to hit the submit button. See if this worked.......

Okay, I need to know how many games out there have different titles but are the same damn game! First, I love puzzle games which are by far, in the minority on gaming systems so when I find a new (or so I think) one, I get excited. I have Puyo Pop for the GBA and I like it. I got a SNES and ordered Kirby's Avalanche and much to my surprise, IT WAS PUYO POP. Imagine my dismay when after 2 months of searching for a cheap, working Sega Genesis to play the Mr Robotnick's Mean Bean Challenge that I had snagged at a thrift store, I finally snagged a system, plugged in the cart and discovered IT WAS PUYO POP. At least with games like Dr. Mario, it has the same name (I need one, preferably for the N64 so PM me...) Please spare me the excitement followed by total depression by pointing out any others like this..... Laura

Okay, clueless but functional me has a question...how do I post a picture? I know how to attach one to an e-mail (they are jpeg files on my computer's c drive) but I'm not sure how to put one here. The pictures aren't great as I only have a computer-mounted camera but they should help. (I know...who knows how many game systems and carts but no good camera. It's all about priorities!) The cart works great but the label has a little tear (actually it is pushed in) over the screw hole. It shows up in the pic and pushes the ck in in the word chuckles. Tell me how to post them or give me an e-mail address......

Sounds good to me! We will end somewhere around 5pm so get your bids in early..... Thanks, Laura

I'm going to do an auction (here) ending at 5pm on Monday (9/15, Central Time US) for a Jawbreaker cart for the Atari Computers. Bids will be as PMs to me ($2 increments) and I will notify people that have been "outbid" but only up until 4pm on the end date. I don't want any ill-will as I cannot react fast enough to sniping. Basically, play nicely and make your best offer. I'll cover domestic US shipping but anyone Internationally will have to pay the difference from US. PM me with any specific questions about the cart as I want the new owner to be happy! Thanks, Laura

(I thought that I posted this but it didn't show up....) Forget e-bay, I'll sell it here. Does an auction ending at 5pm on Monday (9/15, Central Time US) sound fair? Bids will be as PMs to me ($2 increments) and I will notify people that have been "outbid" but only up until 4pm on the end date. I don't want any ill-will as I cannot react fast enough to sniping. Basically, play nicely and make your best offer. I'll cover domestic US shipping but anyone Internationally will have to pay the difference from US. PM me with any specific questions about the cart as I want the new owner to be happy! Thanks, Laura

I got a lot of stuff in that included a 400 and several carts, one of which was Jawbreaker. In perusing a rarity list (http://www.geocities.com/ejgnandt/newMyCarts.txt), I noticed that it is ranked as an 8. Please help me out here....what do you think that it is worth and what would be the best way to sell it? I do sell on e-bay but if I could sell it without all of the fees (and knew it would go to a good home...okay, I know I haven't had it long but I think that these things should be appreciated), I would prefer to sell it via some other method. Your thoughts??? Thanks. Laura

I was playing with one of the Epyx last night and my cat went into attack/stalk mode with his eyes glued to the joystick. If he attacks it/me and messes up one of my games (much less the joystick), he's going to become that fur rug I've always thought would look nice in front of my fireplace. At 24 pounds, he would make a substantial rug...... Laura
