Old pictures of our Atari 8-bit setups

yes, I think that's a Hayes 1200 on top of the 810 in the later XE setup! Note I also had a second drive in the XE setup - an Indus, which was awesome! -

Here's photo of my Atari 800 setup, with all of the bells and whistles...circa 1983? And then, my 130XE with my Mac Plus...when I was transitioning away from Atari, ~1987! -
Oops...nevermind...I saw that you posted about this in the other thread

Love the Touch Bar buttons! I tried in vain to get this to work a while back. Totally awesome!!

FYI, the latest version of Atari800MacX now has Touch Bar buttons! (5.3.0: http://www.atarimac.com/atari800macx.php ) I tried in vain to get this to work a while back - so happy this is built in to the emulator now!

The 2600-dapter II works like a charm with Atari800MacX! It's funny though, to use it on a modern MacBook Pro, I'm using: 1. A USB-C to USB-A adapter 2. A USB printer cable 3. The 2600-dapter 4. The CX40 joystick It's dongle town! I haven't been successful using Karabiner to remap Function keys to some other key, however. If I could somehow hack Atari800MacX's start/select/option keys to anything other than F keys, it would be pretty easy to create graphical start/select/option buttons in the MacBook Pro TouchBar...

Is there any way to change Atari800MacX's keyboard mapping? I have a nifty idea to make custom virtual buttons on the MacBook Pro Touch Bar for Start, Select, Option. Unfortunately, the utility I'm using (BetterTouchTool) doesn't allow you to create virtual buttons for Function keys. If I could remap, say, Start from F4 to something else, like "(" or anything else, this should work...

Thanks - the first time I tried the Retrolink with Atari800MacX was with this new version. I just ordered a 2600daptorII!

I too can't seem to get controllers to work. I have CX-40 joysticks plugged in via a Retro Link USB adapter. Anyone else have any luck?

I just discovered this game - it's a fantastic homage to the original Adventure, and it was obviously created by someone with great care and with great nostalgia for the 2600. Are there any other modern games that do 8-bit nostalgia this well?

Access hidden files on copy protected ATX discs?
dschmidt replied to dschmidt's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Kyle22 that is awesome! Let me know if you are able to figure out the font and TEACHER files. Ok, now that I have (most) of the BASIC code on a regular ATR, what's the easiest way for my to copy those files over to my Mac or PC so I could look at them in a modern text editor, etc? -

Krotki - thanks so much! I was able to "break" and list the program, and get the directory listing. Fantastic! However, it's been 30 years since I programmed in Atari BASIC...so I forget how to copy files. Can you point me in the right direction? Do you need to use the XIO command, or is there another way to copy disk files from BASIC? -
Hi all- To my incredible delight, I just discovered that an Atari 800 BASIC program that I wrote for Sunburst Communications in 1983 was available online: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-targets-a-number-game_12129.html This was my first job - my first summer of high school. I was actually able to get this to run on Atari800Win...incredible blast from the past! The publisher copy protected this disk...the directory is scrambled, and if I hit BREAK, it stops the BASIC code but then immediately reboots. (I forget how we did that!) Anyway, I really want to be able to access the BASIC source code of this disc - it would be like a time capsule into my young brain. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to access the actual BASIC files on this disk image? Thanks! David
