  1. I think there's at least 2, maybe 3 more traditional console cycles/generations yet to come, where processing is still local to the system in your home, and that still use physical media, be it optical discs or something else. Neither will disappear in the 2020s.
  2. https://www.thurrott.com/xbox/157090/xbox-after-the-x It's going to take time to rebuild Microsoft first party studios and create killer launch titles for the next Xbox. Fable 4 is no doubt one such example. Still, I'm glad Microsoft are making these commitments.
  3. Console generations are not going away. Sony and Mark Cerny have maintained that they still believe in distinct generations that are a major leap forward in tech and capability. Nintendo has said next to nothing about future hardware, other than that they're doing R&D on the next console. Only Microsoft had said (at E3 2016, almost 2 years ago) that their way forward was 'beyond generations', when Project Scorpio was announced. But last year at E3 2017, it wasn't really repeated with Xbox One X reveal. Since then, Phil Spencer has said several times that X1X won't be Microsoft's last console. Separately, Jez Corden of Windows Central tweeted last July that the next Xbox is already in development. There's no solid indication that the next Xbox will or won't be a break with Xbox One family. https://twitter.com/jezcorden/status/884917264310575105?lang=en He also broke the news that Fable 4 is in development by Playground Game (Forza Horizon dev) and Jez Corden is considered a very reliable source. Fable 4 is said to be at least 3 years away, possibly 4 years, which puts it into the expected time frame of next gen. There's been unconfirmed speculation that Fable 4 is being made for Xbox One X and the next Xbox, leaving OG Xbox One out, but again, that's not confirmed. At the least, I'd expect the next Xbox to be fully BC with Xbox One games, but the idea of "forward compatibility" is a murky one. NX Gamer on Youtube put up a video with his take on PS5 and the next generation Xbox.
  4. Well, I'm assuming PS5 won't be released until Holiday 2020, that's a good two and a half years away from now
  5. What about the secret sauce? [video=youtube;2NsdM1VS5u8] If Sony and Microsoft both partner with AMD for their next consoles, 'secret sauce' could be rather important in separating what could otherwise be two very different machines. What we do know is that the DirectX team is heavily involved in ray tracing - but whether even a next-gen console could deliver results like this remains to be seen. And finally: pricing
  6. Graphics and teraflops - and this is where things get tricky We first learned about AMD's Navi tech in this roadmap slide, but as you can see, both the current-gen Vega and Navi itself are running behind schedule. Our latest Navi tease from AMD reveals even less about the architecture than the original roadmap, but tellingly it's not referred to as a next-gen architecture - that's now scheduled for 2020.
  7. https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2018-in-theory-can-a-potential-ps5-deliver-a-generational-leap PlayStation 5: when can Sony truly deliver a generational leap in power? And what kind of spec can be realistically delivered? [video=youtube;5ixSVQwLaZw] What kind of PlayStation 5 could be delivered in the next couple of years? Rich takes a look at the potential technologies and specifications available. AMD is the partner of choice - and Ryzen is potentially huge AMD continues to iterate on its Ryzen technology - the closest thing we have to a dead cert for inclusion in the next-gen consoles. What isn't clear is which generation of Zen core could conceivably make it into a 2019/2020 console.
  8. One of many great SNK titles before the Neo Geo age began.
  9. Here are four GameFan FFCD previews I didn't include in the previous post. Another addition (which I cannot edit-in anymore) is Super NES Buyer's Guide spread on Final Fight Guy.
  10. EGM's coverage of Super Famicom / SNES Final Fight and Final Fight CD. EGM: Mega Play: The rest is from EGM Missing and cannot be found online is additional Mega Play coverage of FFCD. i.e. in this issue: Diehard GameFan Sega Visions
  11. Final Fight Guy was released on the Super Famicom in Japan in early 1992 and made available as a rental (i.e. Blockbuster) on the SNES in the U.S. in 1994. Edit: I was wrong, GamePro did in fact cover it. Edited that in. EGM, did also covered it. As for Final Fight One on GameBoy Advance, GamePro reviewed it in issue 156 (September 2001) but there are no scans of it available.
  12. GamePro issue 11, June 1990 - 'Hot At The Arcades' Super Famicom / SNES SNES Ad in GamePro (and other mags) Final Fight Guy Mega CD / Sega CD - Final Fight CD SNES Final Fight 2 & Final Fight 3
  13. Hey there Anthony, and everyone - While looking through all the issues of Diehard GameFan uploaded on archive.org, I was pleasantly surprised to see Magician Lord was featured in their Graveyard segment, for a second time. But before we get to the GF Graveyard stuff, they first covered Magician Lord in Volume 1 Issue 05 (April 1993) The first Magician Lord Graveyard article was in Volume 3 Issue 01 (January 1995) The second is in Volume 7 Issue 06 (June 1999), with NAM-1975 leading off that Graveyard segment.
  14. Found another mag that had a good look at the arcade Shadow Dancer. This one comes from the May 1990 issue of S: The Sega Magazine.
  15. This is all the GameFan coverage I could find on Castlevania / Dracula X - Rondo of Blood for PC-Engine CD.
  16. Ah you're welcome, Anthony. It's amazing to see virtually every issue of GameFan uploaded. https://archive.org/search.php?query=GameFan
  17. Also thanks to archive.org - I found Diehard GameFan's Cyber-Lip review:
  18. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh FINALLY. I've at last found Diehard GameFan's "Graveyard" segment on Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the NEC SuperGrafx. -- It was in Volume 2 Issue 6. Bless you on archive.org who scanned & uploaded it. For those that missed them, I had previous posted the other SG games that Diehard GameFan covered. .
  19. Found Diehard GameFan's full Pulstar Neo Geo review. Good quality scans.
  20. Cause it's a classic series? I dunno. The Modern Gaming forum didn't seem to pay attention to the other MB thread.
  21. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ FDG Entertainment has revealed that the upcoming Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom will launch in both digital and physical formats, with Sega helping in the publication of the latter. Monster Boy is seen as the spiritual successor to the famous Wonder Boy series, which Sega owns the rights to. Previous Wonder Boy games were released on Sega systems, and the third entry was recently rebooted on Switch. Both the digital and physical versions of Monster Boy will launch in the summer at the same time. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/02/fdg_is_teaming_up_with_sega_to_publish_monster_boy_in_physical_form_on_switch https://twitter.com/FDG_Games Alright, I'm sold.
  22. NE146 Thanks man, I love this version for the mouse support and nicer audio. Guys, I've been trying out this browser based emulator for Neo Nectaris http://www.vizzed.com/play/neo-nectaris-tgcd-turbo-grafx-cd-100427-game Using the RGR Plugin it seems to work pretty well, even has gamepad support.
  23. Neo Nectaris was ported to iOS and Android back in 2010, but unfornunately no longer available in the US app stores. I have it on an old iPhone, but can't get it to start cause of Apple ID issues...ugh...
