The parallax looks really good here. Kudos for that. Gotta agree with the helicopter looking monochromatic, even if it isn't. Three other things: 1). In the video, the helicopter just seems to slide into some of the hostages on the ground. Are you planning on having that count as an accidental kill? If this were Choplifter, or real life, they'd be a smear-stain on the ground. 2). Any plans for music, or additional sound effects like the helicopter blades? 3). You have an opportunity to make this even better than Choplifter by making more variety. Water rescues? Mountain rescues, etc. Different types of enemies, like say RM-70 missile launchers? I comment because I care

I've been writing a program using Atari800MacX, but I'd like to do something that I don't think I've heard of before. I'd like to create a WAV file that I can output through the audio jacks to a cassette recorder, then load the tape into my physical Atari 400 with its cassette drive. Am I missing something obvious? I can read .WAV files as an emulated cassette, but how do I create one?

Edladdin Colecovision Controller Kickstarter now LIVE!
LoTonah replied to edladdin's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Well, it wouldn't look just like yours, your artwork is way above what I can accomplish. I just really like the sturdiness of your enclosures so I want that for my project. For some reason my Google-fu (which is normally pretty strong) just can't find a good enclosure! Amazon wasn't much help, and Alibaba...I don't need 50 units and the multi-month wait. Thank you! -
Edladdin Colecovision Controller Kickstarter now LIVE!
LoTonah replied to edladdin's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Hi Ed, I was wondering where you got the enclosures from? Are they home-made or ??? I want to make a few controllers...don't worry, I'm not going into competition with you! Just some small stuff. Thanks! -

I would love to see a video of this talk. Any chance of getting it up on YouTube? After all, Feb. 4th is my birthday... -
Colecovision with F18A pre-installed for sale
LoTonah replied to grips03's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Buggy f18a? Bad solder joint? Bad ribbon cable? Anything is possible. Do you have spare parts to swap out pieces? I'm basing this off of the pics that Matthiew180 posted back in 2012. I've never seen one in person. -
I'm curious: at the end of the 4th run, how many SGM units will there be out in the wild? 1,000? More?

Team Pixelboy News Bulletin - January 1st 2018

You'll be missed, Luc. You've done great work over the years! -
Shhh... you're not supposed to talk about Curt that way. Even though he did it to me, too (joystick PCBs).

Haha, you're going to hate me, but I love the new font. The old one is weak, and reading a block of it makes me lose my concentration for some reason.

Team Pixelboy News Bulletin - December 25th 2017

- How many of them are still actively playing their ColecoVision vs just downloading to put them into an archive? I still play on my Adam at least once a week. - How many of them who downloaded have also bought (or would have bought) a boxed copy of the game? I wanted to buy Frostbite, but never got my act together (have a pact with the wife if I want to buy a new Coleco item I have to sell part of my other classic collection--Atari, C64, etc) - How many of them are playing on actual hardware versus an emulator versus a Raspberry Pi? My emulators are on a Mac. - How many of them found the link from browsing these forums or saw it on a social media page or something like Reddit? Saw it on FaceBook first, but would have found them on AtariAge soon after had I not seen it there first. -
JBJ, thank you for showing this to us. Hopefully someone will use it as inspiration... either to port it, or come up with something completely new and wonderful.

I've got a lot to learn about programming on the CV and Adam. I'm just learning how to change the foreground and background colors on custom fonts (in groups of 8 characters)...never mind having 4 colors per character. Is that the limit, or is it two colors per *line* per character (so potentially 16 colors in a character)? So much to learn...

Wow, that looks incredible!! I would love to have the time to break down that picture into character graphics to see how it was composed.

Best (most readable) font used in a game
LoTonah replied to LoTonah's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
The built-in 32 column Coleco font is horrible. It actually makes writing harder to read. It is single-pixel width. There is a 40 column mode available, but it is a bit of work to use it. A little better, but it is single pixel too. The Usotsuki: Yes, I've thought about that font. Definitely gets rid of the bleed issue. But I'll have to research a little further (not sure if it has lower-case!) -
Hi there. I'm working on a game for the Colecovision (it uses the TMS9918 video chip) and can have problems with color bleed. I would love to see your favorite fonts that may help me in my game. Thanks!

Wow, good find! I wonder why they made that Gorf mock-up look like that. It is not like the arcade version looked like it, so what gives? Also, yeah it would have been cool to have more Smurf screens. Considering they are mostly character graphics, I wonder how much memory each screen eats up? It'd be a good hack project if someone could figure out how to make new screens.

ANTIC Podcast Interview -- Jeff Johannigman
LoTonah replied to SoulBlazer's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
How about: 8. Do you have some pirated games and applications, but when you realized that they had real value in your life that you went and actually purchased them? I grew up in a small town. I didn't even know that there were dedicated Atari mags (except for START magazine). I knew ONE other person who owned an Atari, he would provide me with the occasional program. If I liked it, I would call every store I could in START... if they had it, I would buy it. But sometimes they didn't know anything about the program I was asking about (mostly European imports). Sometimes, they would go out of their way to import for me (SimCity, PageStream and HiSoft BASIC come to mind). But yeah, it wasn't until after I got out of Atari that I knew who some of these companies were and where the programs came from. -
Sorry, I don't know a better way of reaching Steve. Question for you though--what happened? How is it not working? Have you tried another SD card? They're sometimes flakey, in my experience.
