Team Pixelboy News Bulletin - May 19th 2016
LoTonah replied to Pixelboy's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Thanks, Pixelboy and NIAD. I feel pretty confident that these games will work now. Wouldn't that be cool if I were #5? -
Look at it this way, at least those names are snatched up by someone who won't abuse it. It keeps it out of the hands of the con artists. Plus, LJN and Acclaim had *some* good titles. Not everything was horrible.

I know its not a priority for you guys, but I'd really love a list of SGM games that have been tested on the Adam. I don't have an SGM (yet) but some of these games would be welcome in my collection sooner than later! -
I don't recall any claims at all, so how could people be misled? I think you're reading too much into this.

Appreciating everything that you are doing for the Coleco. I'm currently going through your tutorials on how to program Coleco games, I've set up Windows 10 on Virtualbox (I'm running a Mac) so that I can run all of the compilers and tools properly, now its just a matter of getting the kids to leave me alone for more than 3 minutes at a time. But yes, thank you very much for all you do, Electric Adventures!

Can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I figure there will be a new generation of programmers that will result if cross-development can be made a lot simpler, and information can be accessed a lot easier (Milli's Adam wiki?)

Acorn Archimedes - best version?
LoTonah replied to gladders's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
So get a Raspberry Pi. One of the operating systems available for it is RiscOS! It's like running an Archimedes on steroids. -

Oh, and congrats on the new job, Pixelboy. They're lucky that they found you, you're an amazing person. -

Holy crap! Going through a bunch of health issues and family issues at the moment myself, so I definitely can understand some of what you are going through, Oscar. My heart goes out to you and your family. What you are doing, Pixelboy, is amazingly generous. This is the kind of thing that makes me glad to be part of this community. I've got to sell some gear fast! I can think of several titles that I want. I can't believe that 17 new games are coming out all at the same time. Between all of the other games that are/will be published this year, that takes us up to what? 40? 50 games? Mind blowing! 2016 is shaping up to be the biggest year yet! -
A Coleco ADAM programmer has some questions

I've offended you. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to--I've admired your work for a long time, the CoolCV project is great stuff. -
A Coleco ADAM programmer has some questions
LoTonah replied to LoTonah's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
It is true. From my own experience I had to return my first ADAM to the store and get it replaced with another one. Every other glitch that seems like myth now actually happened to me personally (erased tapes, data drive lock-up, etc.) But, and maybe I just like an underdog, I stuck with it and its been a lot of fun. Units made later on were pretty solid. Yes, there were only around 100,000 units made, but if you count in the ColecoVision, there are more than a million of those. Yes, I'm in that forum all the time. There are a few ColecoVision programmers talking in that forum. Honestly though, there isn't a lot of information being shared by these programmers and there isn't a lot of pushing the limits of the machine happening either. Most of the "innovation" happening seems to be due to having larger ROM sizes to work with or relying on OpCode's Super Game Module. No offense to any of those people, they're great people. I'm just looking for a bit more than what they can provide for me. I mostly want to work on ADAM software, not ColecoVision games. -
A Coleco ADAM programmer has some questions
LoTonah replied to LoTonah's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Cool! That's actually quite helpful. I've seen a few character editors on the ADAM, but they are quite a bit more primitive than this. One thing I've always wondered about is any programs on the TI that push the VDP beyond its limits...more colors, higher resolutions, etc. It seems like every other system that I've seen has had programmers figure out how to break out of the limitations of their video chipsets, but the TI really hasn't. I'm going to dig into that list a bit to see what else can help. Thanks! -
Hi, I'm learning how to do a bit more with my Coleco ADAM computer, but I seem to be running into a few walls. One of them is to do with graphic programming. As you may know, the ADAM uses the same video chip as the TI. So I'm wondering what tutorials/books/utilities you guys depend on to get things done. I would prefer that the utilities run on OSX, but I also can run Windows, DOS and Linux software (albeit a bit more cumbersome). Thank you!

Why I got back into collecting ColecoVision...
LoTonah replied to TPR's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
GRRR... gotta sell some other stuff fast (Atari? Commodore?) to buy Hang-On and Drol before they're sold out. I can't believe the quality of some of these games--if they had come out in the Coleco's heydey, I'm certain that Hang-On would have been responsible for selling tens of thousands more ColecoVision units. It's an A+ title, for sure. -
Hurray! My Games Arrived and They're Shrink Wrapped!
LoTonah replied to ValkerieSilk's topic in CollectorVision
I did, it came up empty as well. "Google", when I mention it like this, refers to Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and in this case, Youtube and Vimeo as well. I try to be thorough. Problem is, I know this is a conversion, but I don't think there is a video of it playing on actual Coleco hardware (does it really look identical to the MSX version?). -

Any gameplay videos of HangOn anywhere? Google came up empty. -
Love it! The artwork is great, really great! Looking forward to seeing the first development video.

ColecoVision/ADAM 28th Convention Registration
LoTonah replied to adamcon's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Damn, I sure wish life was good enough to me to let me go. Any chance of someone filming this year? I've enjoyed the bits that people have put up on Youtube in the past. Thanks, Bob...for everything that you do. Wish we could meet in person. -Don -
Hi everyone. I have a working SX-64, but the handle is broken. Specifically, the part that connects the handle to the unit. Any reasonably priced leads? Thanks!
-
Looks great, the graphics as-is are better than a lot of games I paid good money for. Only criticism: the character following the pointer. I wonder if the game would feel less abstract and more interactive by having the player control the character, not the pointer. Other than that, and even with that, love it.

Shit. I guess this is what I get for sitting on the fence, I've been thinking all day that I should get on here and get on the list. Now, too late. Shit. No one to blame but myself. Let me know if anyone drops out? Thanks.

Well, if you are looking for a "fun" project, I don't think I'm the only one who would love to take a PC floppy drive (either a 5.25" or 3.5") and connect it to the Adam through the AdamNet. Or better yet, a USB adapter to AdamNet so we can just plug in FAT-formatted thumbdrives. Yes, I realize that's a humungous wish, but you never know unless you ask!

Ask Chris Cardillo of Coleco - ColecoVisions Podcast
LoTonah replied to thevnaguy's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
This may sound silly, but I love things like posters and t-shirts. Any plans to have an online store, or selling to select dealers? I really love the idea of say, a Zaxxon poster, or Pepper II--full size for my den.
