  1. Well, they've been floating around for a long time so unless they're not the same as the 5200 versions... Anyway, can we assume 5200 titles were usually writtenon the 8-bit line? Who programmed Liberator? Did the coder write something else? What's up with Micro Movie by Jim Huether (or whatever that game was called)? ++ RC ++
  2. How about some more details on the A8 prototypes out there or that may exist? Curt, please help On the Atari front, according to Curt, there's Liberator. Xenophobe and Mat Mania Challenge are somewhere as well. Any others? FutureMakers series? How about stuff from Atari UK or Atari Germany? We also got an early beta of McDonald's from Parker Brothers. Any others? How about games from other companies? Electronic Arts, Epyx, Lucasfilm Games, Zeppelin Games...? ++ RC ++
  3. I think there could've been some sort of resurgence back at the end of the eighties or early nineties but many things weren't done right... I wish Antic or ANALOG had done something to really promote commercial European programs in the first place... On the subject of games creation, what we would need is a real repository where people could exchange information on ML programming with examples and source code. Some European tools could be translated as well. Some simple programs have cool ideas but you won't attract many people with ugly 1981-like BASIC games... I'm sure there are still some coders out there who are willing to work on projects (the Polish scene is still a bit active) but we should promote ML games with nice visuals over anything else. ++ RC ++
  4. AFAIK, the version with title screen was meant as the original game from Utopia Software. The "Preliminary Monty" was probably the result of PB approaching the author and asking for a 16K cartridge version of the game... which was never released. The final version made it to disk in the US (courtesy of PB) and tape/disk in the UK (Databyte). There's also a rare re-issue by BCI Software. ++ RC ++
  5. All I know is Andromeda Software was a Hungarian software developer. IIRC, they also ported Moon Patrol to the ST. ++ RC ++
  6. I'm sure I saw the game in some dealer ads. I believe the program was shelved when Parker Bros. decided to leave the market, shortly after the release of Montezuma's Revenge (and Mr. Do's Castle?). The multi-system instructions and the mention of a disk version make sense as the company probably wanted to reduce costs. Maybe a proto is out there I always wanted to see the sequel to Montezuma's Revenge (Barbados Booty), was the game ever programmed? I'm positive there are many unreleased games other than from Atari. Maybe we could start tracking down some programmers? ++ RC ++
  7. Well done! The Expando-Vision stuff is SUPER rare! Only saw ONE on eBay in the past six or seven years! ++ RC ++
  8. I think Pole Position would... qualify BTW, does Pengo exist in the big box format? Also wondering if there's a color version of the small box. I have never seen anything else than black and white versions ++ RC ++
  9. Those mods were fairly popular in Eastern Europe at the time. ++ RC ++
  10. Check the very bottom of this page: http://www.s-direktnet.de/homepages/k_nadj/rechts.html Good luck ++ RC ++
  11. Fantastic! Is this supposed to be the unreleased Warlords from Atari? Isn't there an official A8 version out there as well? ++ RC ++
  12. What the hell does this have to do with A8 computers? Can't you post this on Classic Gaming General? Sheesh... ++ RC ++
  13. It's nothing special but definitely not the same as the cartridge release. Check in the "Games (sorted)" section: http://www.atari8bit-software.de/index_e.htm ++ RC ++
  14. No. The Broderbund cartridge and disk releases are different: the disk version has slightly embellished graphics and a small intro. ++ RC ++
  15. IIRC, Reptilian was never finished because the programmer was fired and nobody took over the project. Slamball was started on the Atari but the game was only released on the C64. Again, I believe there was a problem with the programmer. ++ RC ++
  16. Check the list again Protector was actually written by Mike Potter when he was at Crystalware. He brought the game along when he was hired by Synapse Software. ++ RC ++

  19. Don't get too excited, it's just a very simple game written in BASIC, probably a German type-in or something... ++ RC ++
  20. Nice Being picky but the correct spelling is "collaboration", not "colaboration". ++ RC ++
  21. It's not a hack. There were two different versions of Aztec Challenge released for the A8. ++ RC ++
  22. Had exactly the same program in my hands a while ago but discovered it wasn't for the A8. Don't remember the system (could be the SVI computers) but definitely not Atari. ++ RC ++
