  1. Yep, the Sega Chihiro arcade hardware is based on the orig Xbox with more RAM but basically the same Since our conversation was arcade related I didn't think it was necessary to differentiate between other emulators At the end of the day it doesn't matter, the gun has to be recognized by Coinops (emulators) My guess is that it is and that you can find references to that if you google Coinops and EMS Topgun together I already know that Coinops recognizes the actual Xbox lightgun which is great but of course that does not work on anything but CRT ... it would not be too much of a leap to assume it works with the EMS I just can not confirm it as of yet
  2. You just contradicted yourself "MAME" By definition is an emulator and Coinops has the MAME core in it so if you want to play MAME rail shooters you need it to be compatible with emulators Also virtual cop 3 I believe is an emulated version on the Xbox no? Or is it just that it runs better on the 128MB ram ? Regadless the question remains the same and the orig Xbox does a much better job with MAME and other arcade emulation than the PS2
  3. One thing I notice right off the bat is the EMS II has the Xbox plugs I'm willing to bet they didn't carry that over to the EMS III depending on when it was orig manufactured I'll do an eBay search and see what I can find for a reasonable price
  4. $70 is more reasonable And yes that is an Xbox input with some sort of plug on it So yeah that looks like how it works Don't know if it works with emulators tho
  5. Woahhhhh doggie $250 ??! WTF If I can find the v2 for the price listed on playasia ($58) I'll go for it but man... $250 is crazy
  6. Ahh ok, shoulda listened those links in the first place ? Cool. Well I'm gonna get one from eBay Not a huge fan of playasia's website I'll let you know if it works or not with Coinops et al
  7. I don't see anything about orig Xbox on the playasia page at all so I don't know what you mean by "look at the contents inside the box" I'm on the mobile site so maybe it's missing info You don't need drivers for the USB dongle only if you run Linux on the Xbox
  8. Hmm, the features section of playasia don't mention orig Xbox support How does it plug in? It seems like you would need several orig Xbox USB adaptors if the racketboy post is correct Does anyone out there have experience with this light gun ? I also don't see how to be sure it is tue Orange tipped revision you spoke of
  9. The racketbot post def is talking about it on an orig Xbox so that's promising The question is: does it work with emulators ? I'm gonna get one myself and I'll let you know You may be able to google the answer to see if it works within Coinops
  10. I'm going to have to grab one of those and try t out in order to answer you question I didn't know they made one with an orig Xbox input Are you sure when they said "Xbox" they didn't mean Xbox 360 or Xbox One ? It's my understanding that the gun is a USB device There are USB adaptors for original Xbox but they are USB 1 not USB 2 which is not that great when it comes to peripherals like USB light guns or USB controllers I'm gonna go check out those links and see what's up
  11. It's version 6 boards because you can't install custom firmware without a mod chip. But you can install extra ram if you use a modchip Coinops and some of the other emulators have been updated to make use of extra ram Comes in handy with N64, PSX and arcade/MAME emulation the latter of which is what most of my customers get these for due to the advances in orig Xbox emulation over the past few years
  12. Having only used Ultimarc's video adaptor for the original Xbox (no longer available) that i use to connect my Xbox to my real arcade monitor, I've never investigated any other options for video output There is a ton of info available (google-able) for orig Xbox custom firmware ... I don't recall seeing anything about that but it doesnt mean it can't do it. Barring that there are video down/up-scalers on the market for use with everything from arcade monitors to HiDef TVs
  13. I have no clue but wouldn't a normal A/V cable that is composite video work ? That's the regular video on an Xbox at mayaman: it's coming along bro! Slow but it's coming I'm going to prioritize the Xbox orders this week and get them it the door but I only just got the Coinops updates which are worth the wait, trust me ??
  14. Greetings! We take great care in sourcing our ram chips and diligently test our hardware after installs are done We also guarantee our hardware for 90 days I know that one of the things that is often overlooked is that all XBEs have to be patched to work on a 128MB RAM Xbox We can of course get you set up with anything you want to play. But what concerns me is that you said you're looking to play lightgun games on an HDTV .. I assume this is a flat screen? An LCD or LED? (Not a CRT) I don't think you can get light guns to work on a non CRT TV unless you know of something I don't. Is there an original Xbox adaptor for the new light guns that have come out ? I'm not aware of any and if there are, please post a link here Lastly, I do not provide game lists because it is easy to find what is available and talking about ROM use that way is frowned upon in this forum. For the rest of the subscribers to this thread: I'll be updating the main thread here to show that we're updating Coinops to V8 R6 and also offering the Hyperspin-esque Coinops 8 GEMS as well as Hypervison 5 GEMS (which is Visionary 5 in a hyperbison menu style) I'll post links to videos in the first post soon but you can all just google it to find tons of videos out there We're also updating a lot of the stand alone emulators to all the latest versions and we of course make sure everything is patched and working if you get 128MB RAM My pace on Xbox mods is very slow at the moment because I've been hired to build a custom four player arcade machine... and I am also hard fast at creating a huge ISO database and archive of everything related to modern emulation on classic devices & modern devices including the Raspberry Pi ... part of the cabinet design will include a Sega Naomi 2 with a Net DIMM board and RPi3, a multi Capcom 2 board & a multi Neo Geo board as well as console and PC MAME capabilities so it will truly be a hybrid of amazing proportions ... oh and the 4 player control panel is modular so each set of controls is separate and the thing can be configured for 4, 2 & 1 player so when you're playing solo you can stand in the middle ?
  15. That's a huge price shift on those Must be because of the flash carts... that's a new or really recent price drop . They were never less than $65 or so on that site. I know because I bought one last August from the same site ... dif vendor, but I sorted vendors by price when I searched for it based on the chart below They're probably trying to unload them I have two different multi carts but as I said, quality ain't so great on some. If you get them that cheap it's worth getting the capacitor/transistor fixes done on them to fix glitches . The Neo geo forums are full of tutorials and videos that show what sort of glitches exist, why & how to fix them This chart tells you which carts have which games http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/MVS_Multicart
  16. Neo geo multi carts are really crappy quality and I've never seen one for $30. The ones that are 100-in-1 or more always have so many dupes it winds up being at most maybe 50 games ... there are tons of good comparison charts on line that show which games are on which carts. I own two that covers a lion's share of the collection but so many of the games have weird glitches with sound, video or both. The reason they are so expensive, and you can't get around this no matter what you do, is because of the chips needed. They are expensive. End of story. Darksoft answers so many technical questions like this that the Neo geo sd team doesn't even admit in the first place nor are they accessible like he is which is something I pointed out a while back and whatshsface attacked me for saying what was merely the truth of the matter. As to why no one has made a quality multi cart with no dupes, I'm sure it's cost related The arcade-projects forum is as easy to sign up to as this one. It's free. No spam, no popups... I am not a solicitor nor do I endorse that forum . (I can't stand the guy who runs it) I only point it out to others here to inform them that if they want to find out detailed information about the Neo geo flash Darksoft is making, you have to sign up to read the forum and all those questions have been answered there ... that's the only reason iv ever posted links to it... people here ask a question and I point to that forum for the answer if I don't recall or don't know the answer. I don't recall which games are not playable but I know they were not games I'd ever played or was interested in. It's probably something to do with a special chip that only those three need or something like that . Might have made the card more expensive (i guess) I bet anything the Neo geo SD won't play them either and it's possible that darksoft refers to the actual roms and not hacks of the roms that would otherwise run (just a guess again, on that) .
  17. What part of the very first sentence I posted didn't you comprehend ?? So much so that you had to PUT EVERYTHING IN CAPS? Sheesh KRIKZZ is not putting out a nephron cart
  18. This was literally just released moments ago by Darksoft I got notified by the forum subscription email at arcade projects Quote from Darksoft: "OK guys, as we wait for the multi to reach mitsurugi so he can show us the full potential of the multi, I'm attaching a short video. There has been a lot of speculation as to how many games the multi support currently, how long games take to load, etc. This video should answer many of your questions. It doesnt show how I go back to the menu with key pressing or how I change between slots, but it's there. Currently there are only 3-4 games out of 264 that dont work. The rest work as you can see. youtube.com/watch?v=ULjqvVCLgLc&feature=youtu.be More coming soon.
  19. I'm talking about innovation and quality Other flash carts exist that KRIKZZ didn't design.. which are better in just about every instance except maybe the SD2SNES which was so on par that KRIKKZ backed the production of it.. sort of an executive producer role. I've said it here before (and have been attacked for saying it because my remarks were mistakenly misinterpreted as being condescending) but when DS's cart does come out , it's going to be very high quality and have a much more accessible way to obtain support for it than the current Neo geo cart. Which seemed to come out of nowhere and had no names or reputations associated with it. As far as I know that's still the case. It reminds me of how the MVS pirate Multi Carts are produced and sold. I don't trust the components it's made with for that very reason. I also think that in the long run, development updates for firmware, menus, & perhaps even compatibility will be faithfully updated long after the release of the hardware just like KRIKZZ still supports all of his hardware That's the comparison I am making
  20. you have to join this forum to read it but here is the home of Darksoft, http://www.arcade-projects.com/forums/index.php?board/31-neo-geo-multigame-cart/&s=21d0f5b2fe6382f306063933e898bdbcb1b7c392 He's the KRIKZZ of the Arcade Board world ... everything I have read about how his cart is built, and it is already built, it's going to be better than the Neo geo sd ... it will probably be the same price unless he tries to undercut their price, which would be good for competition I'm waiting. I've waited this long, I can wait longer I have DS's Capcom II Multi Kit, it's incredible.
  21. Is that a NeoSD ? The $450 one ? I'm still patiently waiting on Darksoft's cart but it seems like it's never coming out
  22. Sweet! This is mine, Which I've shown off before but now it is a PC/JAMMA/Console hybrid so that I can plug JAMMA boards in or my original Xbox running Coinops (with 128MB RAM) and of course any PC Photos show two of the three JAMMA boards that I have Darksoft's CPS2 Multi, and a Neo Geo MVS I also have a Tekken 3 board. Normally I use either the original Xbox or Dreamcast as the brain but I also have a PC with MAME and a few other emulators. I custom wired the controls so they can feed to USB or various consol control inputs or switch to the JAMMA harness I have to make audio and video switches as well when I go back and forth It is a real arcade monitor (15Khz / 27") The cab was originally an NBA Jam
  23. If anyone has a Mac Mini, the old PPC G4 versions, there is a lot you can do with them if your goall is emulators I fired mine up last month to run MorphOS which is a replacement OS for various hardware platforms including the Mac mini . It runs a ton of Amiga software. I was able to play Amiga CD 32 Games with it Only problem with it is that it ain't free. If I was not in possession of a real Amiga, I would buy it because it's not that expensive. Check it out if you have an old G4 Mac mini. There are also very good PPC Mac ports of MAME and many other emulators that work very well on that hardware. The 8 & 16bit computer emulators work particularly well on it.
  24. I came across a YouTube video someone put up that shows the benefits of having 128MB of RAM on your original Xbox https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aQvLCdN4ZbQ Check it out if you're wondering
  25. Greetings http://atariage.com/forums/user/39967-hardcorehubz/ It is my opinion that the original Xbox is the most versatile & stable emulation station out there. You could build a PC or use a Raspberry Pi but you're still not going to find something as reliable. No fuss, no muss, plug & play, withstanding hours upon hours of use year after year now that we have completely opened up the motherboard, customized the bios & upgraded the RAM The Coinops Emulator along with MAME for Xbox and countless other emulators have stayed in the forefront of the emulation scene since the Xbox was first hacked Yes the Wii & PS2 have similar capabilities, but neither has been updated as often. I have all of the above for my personal emulation needs but for those just getting into it or returning to it after a long break, I don't believe there is a better platform for the money . If you would like to get into one I can set you up within a week of payment. Little longer for the RAM upgrade and 2TB HDD. It all depends on what your emulation focus is. Check out this video to preview Coinops 8 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qhvPHf9ZKEk Message me if you want to proceed or if you want to get a Wii, or PS2 done ... I can offer 360 & PS3 mods but those are more difficult and require chips or devices to mod them so it becomes more expensive and at that point you may as well get a PC unless you already own one of those consoles , but either way I can handle all the above at a reasonable price
