  1. Congo bongo looks awful on anything other than a Colecovision to me. Moon patrol looks closest to the arcade of nearly all ports out there on the TI. Pole position is quite bad, but the Vic20 version is also quite horrendous with very a very garish colour scheme. Interestingly the 2600 version looks really good considering the hardware limitations, but the opponent cars on most conversions are very low spec.
  2. Awesome, Elite here we come!! Only kidding of course, but would something like Tempest be a possibility?
  3. Merry Christmas from Australia too, 32 degrees C here Today, about 90 Fahrenheit. 2014 indeed has been a good one for the Ti, also the Year I got back into it after purchasing 3 in a few minutes of madness on ebay about 1 year ago, don't regret any of it either. Hopefully more of the same for 2015.
  4. Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think all the boards out there need to be referred to the same way, bits or bytes only, as some cart boards are referred to differently. I should have been a bit clearer about that in the 1st place obviously. What I was wondering is if the 64k byte boards I have can be modified into 512k byte boards, as in the non Grom board. Considering that the Game carts that are using the 512k byte rom only binaries have been posted, I thought modifying my 64k byte boards wouldn't be a bad idea, rats nest wiring mess included. Ksarul it would be fantastic if You could post the schematic for the 512k byte boards later when they are sorted.
  5. See my reply in Your other post You just resurrected.
  6. The only thing you could try is adding a small signal diode like a 1N4148 or even better, a shottkey diode with 0.2v forward bias inline with the Composite signal. I recently did this with my brand new Atari 65xe and it cleared the horrible vertical lines problem up enormously. The difference is that I added that to the Chroma line only, so it could possibly mess up the sync signal on a composite signal, won't hurt to try though.
  7. I have a bunch of the 64k Jon Guidry boards, no components fitted yet, and am wondering if it is possible to modify them into a 512k board with a LS378 instead of the 379. I can't find schematics of the 512k board, but could figure it out myself if they are available.
  8. After the Rolf harris sex scandal and subsequent Guilty verdict, I think in some cases some people have jumped on the "Lets find some old geezer and label them a sex offender" bandwagon. Lets just assume Innocent until proven Guilty, listening to what the media say isn't always a good thing as they like to sensationalise everything for the sake of ratings.
  9. I bought 2 Beige consoles from the States last year, both are non QI with 1981 on the boot screen. I suspect there are more 1981 beige units around than the 2.2 1983 ones. Not sure why people seem to hate the beige unit so much, but it's a lot easier to find a good condition beige unit as opposed to a banged up Aluminium and black console. And Yes I do like the look of the original unit, just a lot harder to keep in good condition. My original TI was a PAL beige console (went to computer heaven in the 90's) and I am not aware of any PAL units that were 2.2 QI. Even though TI dumped hundreds of thousands of these on the overseas markets in 1983, it's not as simple as just getting rid of unsold US stock, as in that case all motherboards would have to have been modified for PAL. They were obviously all made for the overseas market in the first place. I realise thats gotten a bit off topic, but I thought I would add my 2c to the endless Beige vs Black/silver console debates.
  10. That is exactly what I did with my F18a, You have to be very careful drilling the holes though. Start with a small drill and work your way up. I had to file down the hex screw heads otherwise the vga plug won't fit. It's quite a tricky job but was worth the effort to avoid hacking into the case. Hacking into the case would have been easier though.
  11. Thankyou very much Rasmus, not a bad game at all, and now works on the Rom only E/A II cart I made up real nicely.
  12. I think the 1st time I came across Atariage was back in the late 90's or very early 2000's whilst using either the Atari 2600 Stella or Z26 emulators, a link to new or prototype game files may have been it. I also remember a bit later seeing the Time Pilot Alpha or beta for the TI99/4a on Youtube and did a search that led me here. It's funny now as I remember this part of the forum as being a bit hidden away in a dark corner. In contrast it is now buzzing with activity and of course I know go direct to the TI99/4a programming section. Last year I got and repaired a dead C64, then 64c that was also dead, next acquired a Vic-20 and some Commodore Plus/4's. Then it hit me that I should chase down a TI99/4a as that was my first computer back in Christmas 1983. Since then I've gotten a nanoPEB, F18a, and some 64k Jon Guidry boards as well as UBERGROM boards on the way. I also have my original Amiga 500 with CF IDE And 8mb ram upgrade. Most recent purchase is a NOS Atari 65XE from Best Electronics. Of course none of this would be possible without the Internet, Ebay, and this forum. My original machine died in about 1986 when the characters on screen got all messed up whilst loading in a level of TOD from cassette, by the early 90's it was binned as I saw no chance of it ever working again, things have changed for the better of course as far as that is concerned.
  13. Wow, thanks massively for this, apparently the impossible has been proved possible. This runs perfectly on the eprom only EA II cart which I burned on a 64k Jon Guidry board, also need 32k and PEB/nanoPEB obviously.
  14. I did find that one game doesn't start with this eprom only version. Rockrunner. I think there are some others too.
  15. LOL, I thought someone might come out with something like that.
  16. Thanks, BTW keep an eye out as your President may be a bit upside down when He returns from the G20, I even got an extra Public holiday for the occasion. Please Let me know if purchasing 2 doesn't impact the shipping too much, as that may be a worthwhile idea, doubt I'll ever need more than 2 of these.
  17. I've looked into the programming side of things and I can get an adaptor for my Willem 5.0b for the flash chip, and make my own to program the Atmega1284p using AVRDUDE, just one problem Your website says that You do not ship to Australia (upon entering address), can this be changed please? Likely shipping would only be around the $15 mark for a small package via 1st class mail. EDIT - Shipping to Australia fixed
  18. I went down this road but with trying to get component Video working from a TMS9929ANL, got nowhere with it unfortunately, but may try again at some point. The point is that i did mess around with the outputs from the 5 pin din to accomodate R-Y, B-Y, Luminance/Sync and Audio out, so maybe You may have changed the pinout? Other than that swap another sound chip in if possible.
  19. This should be awesome when done. I like the Purple cart label too, the multicoloured one looks like the Font needs to be stretched sideways a bit though or a bigger gap between letters, looks a bit squished on both the cart label and the manual. Definitely think I got back into the TI at the right time.
  20. Thanks Rasmus, I'll check that out. I second an earlier comment about Time pilot getting finished, that would be fantastic. I had seen that on Youtube a few years ago long before I got a real TI again. I bet the TI could do a better job than the c64 on that, it suffers slowdowns but otherwise is good.
  21. I reckon with Rasmus awesome smooth scrolling a decent conversion of Xevious wouldn't be too much of a stretch for the TI?
  22. I fixed my Mitsumi keyboard with a Pencil. A good fix for remote controls is to punch a small circle of Aluminium foil and super glue it to the rubber pad part, just let the glue dry for an hour to avoid the super glue fumes causing issues with the circuit board. I also used this method to fix some game controllers, works real beaut.
