  1. I just spent 30 minutes troubleshooting my nephew's Wii remotes before determining that the wireless receiver must be bad (on all three remotes, only the buttons work, and I'm using new batteries). This is one of many reasons I stick to the classics; I never have to put up with this crap with my vintage systems. Just plug in, and go!

      Did you mess with the controller detection button on the system itself? It's the red button in the bay that holds the SD slot. Afterwards, hit the red button on the back of the controllers (near the battery bay). Hopefully that's the problem because it's unlikely that all three controllers would go bad at once.

      Yep, I tried that, too. I figure it's got to be the sensor bar, because I agree that all three remotes can't be bad. The sensor bar wire looks a little chewed up, so I'm sure that's the culprit.

      Any pair of IR light sources can be used in place of the sensor bar. There's a youtube video of a guy playing Wii with candles on top of his TV set.
