    After some recent hard drive headaches, I think I've concluded that onboard software RAID always SUCKS, regardless of the chipset. I think I'll invest in some nice 3Ware RAID cards.

      I prefer external NAS RAID. That way, a computer can completely blow up and any other computer on the network can still access the files.
