  1. I just got an amber monochrome monitor (a 12" Amdek 310A) in like-new condition, complete with glare filter, and I managed to find a Hercules compatible graphics card as well! It's still my favorite type of PC display. Time to build a 386 PC and load it up with DOS games!

      For me, the classic PC of the early era was/is the 486. Software bloat wasn't a problem yet - but was getting there.

       

      I also agree that one-time setups were a plus. Today you're always having to dick around with something or other.

       

      Too bad this wasn't made a thread.. Because PC's of that era are going to become classics real soon if not already.
