Why will OpenOffice never replace Microsoft Office? Because other applications are so intertwined with the Office APIs that they just assume that you have Office installed, even when it shouldn't be necessary. Case in point: to add a threaded hole to a plate in Autodesk Inventor, you MUST have Excel installed. Even though creating a threaded hole has NOTHING whatsoever to do with spreadsheets.
