I'm VERY impressed with the Gamerz Tek "8-Bit Entertainment System" (a remarkably inexpensive NES clone). The controllers are a very close match for the originals, game compatibility seems very good, and it even works with my Everdrive N8! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0161N7J2G

  Yes. They look similar, but I get the impression that the Gamerz Tek and Retron units are not the same system internally.
  
  I was very surprised (and pleased!) that it worked with the Everdrive; I've seen reviews that claimed that it didn't.
