  1. I'd *REALLY* love to see tablet manufacturers use panel-mounted Micro-USB connectors that are wired to the board so they can be replaced when they break, instead of surface-mounted parts with unreachable solder points that are almost too small to see. If they insist on making you use that thin and flimsy connector for every recharge, they should at least make it replaceable. As it is, it's the biggest point of failure; a broken $0.50 connector can leave the tablet useless.

      True, but at least the 74LS logic chips were socketed in a lot of those old computers; if one went bad, you could pick up a fairly cheap replacement at your local Radio Shack, swap it out, and you'd be back in business. Nowadays, such a thing would be considered as exotic as churning your own butter. A frightening percentage of today's population can't even change their own tires.
