  1. My students are getting increasingly logy and sluggish, and "teaching" is starting to feel more like pushing them uphill in a wheelbarrow. It must be the week before Thanksgiving Break!

      Our university teaches three primary programming languages: Python, C++, and Java. I also teach C for microcontrollers in my embedded systems course.

       

      (I'd never support eliminating C++ from our curriculum.)

      Errr... I meant to say "we're not getting candidates who *were* taught C++." Nobody. It's all Java. Maybe a thing with Florida universities?

      Interesting. As I said, I'd never advocate getting rid of C++, but it seems that many universities have. I don't know if I'd want to hire a programmer who had never worked with pointers.
