How is it "harassment" or a "personal attack" to draw a circle around a public comment that you voluntarily wrote and posted under your own name? Whether or not you were previously talking to the person who did it is irrelevant; if you don't want anyone commenting on whatever it is that you have to say, don't say it in a public forum. I'd also love to know how we're "moving the goal posts." As far as I can tell, we still have the same position that we've held for months. I didn't think I'd have to post this again so soon, but here you go, from way back in mid-June:

Happy 40th Anniversary Intellivision!
jaybird3rd replied to Zendocon's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Happy 40th Anniversary! The first Intellivision consoles hit the store shelves in test markets on December 3, 1979, and the Intellivision enjoyed first-party support until 1990 (with the unreleased "Deep Pockets"). Intellivision Productions kept the Intellivision alive through the 1990s with their "Intellivision Lives!" and "Intellivision Rocks!" collections for the Mac and PC, and into the 2000s with the plug-and-play TV games and emulator collections for mobile platforms. Now, at the close of the 2010s, we eagerly anticipate the Intellivision Amico in 2020 2021. Cheers to Intellivision for an impressive run! -

This thread actually just reached 953 pages, but that includes posts that have been hidden.

I think this is the "black box" they're referring to. From this very thread, way back in June ...

Now that "Atari" looks to be getting closer to putting something in a box, and the True Believers are no doubt champing at the bit to crow about it and rub it in our faces, I think it would be useful to remind them of what our argument has always been: "Living up to the hype" means creating a steady flow of new and exclusive high-quality software, and an entire delivery ecosystem, which can give the users the kind of experience that "Atari" has been promising (which, as their supporters have been insisting, will be totally different from the RPi and other lower-cost alternatives). Although the True Believers will try to claim that "Atari" is totally in the clear if they can only manage to ship the hardware, fulfilling the initial obligation of putting working hardware in a box and shipping it is only the starting point, and in some ways is the simplest part of the process.

Happy Thanksgiving! (And if you're not in the US, Happy Thanksgiving anyway, because you can be thankful any time.)

I always appreciate it when someone takes a deep dive into a classic game, especially one that not many people got to see because of the late date it was released. I own Solaris, of course, but I also have not spent much time with it yet. One of the pleasures of playing these classic games is that there is enough depth there to keep one busy and interested in them for a lifetime.

I bet the gears fell out of the engineer's head. Judging from the skinny white plastic nub shown in the picture, he evidently used a wimpy coffee stirrer as a "handle shaft," and he probably blew his top because he couldn't figure out why it kept breaking during testing.

"New Google Console that Stadia?" Maybe I'm just old, but when I hear the name "Stadia," the first thing I think of is ...

Indeed, welcome back! I think it's time we pinned this thread. These interviews are such an incredible resource.

Yes, there's a link to the Altirra download page in the first post in the thread. The initial setup should take only a few minutes: after downloading and unpacking the archive and launching Altirra, I believe you only need to point it to your copy of the 5200 OS ROM, set the Atari 5200 hardware profile as the default, and configure your controller(s).

Altirra (See the development thread for Altirra 3.20 right here on AtariAge!)

I hope that's not real wood, because after a four-pound taco, that could be a fire hazard.

FS: Atari 5200 Games and Accessories
jaybird3rd replied to Airn23Chicago's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I went ahead and merged the threads. -
Activision's 5200 cartridge boards are terrible. They always seem to be more pitted and tarnished than other boards of a similar age, and they don't sit deeply enough in the cartridge port, so only the tips of the fingers (which wear out first) ever make contact with the connector. I'm working on designing new replacement boards which will, among other things, extend the fingers slightly to make better contact. Using these boards, you can repair any Activison cartridges which suffer from poor contact, and you can also use them to "upgrade" Pitfall to a version that is compatible with two-port consoles. I hope to have the new boards designed before the end of the year.

ColecoVision Console Box Protectors For Sale
jaybird3rd replied to Starwander's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Absolutely! I'd pick up at least 20 Aquarius box protectors as well. -
Excellent news! He was one of the vendors I was thinking of contacting. I believe he supplied the JagCD protectors that I use, which I'm very happy with, so I'd be delighted if he decides to offer Aquarius protectors. I'd also commit to buying 15-20 protectors.
-
Thank you! I just replied. As I mentioned, I'll ask around to see if any box protector vendors can do a custom order for the Aquarius; if I find one, I'll post about it here so everyone else knows about it, too. I'll focus specifically on protectors for the Aquarius games, since those include the rarest releases for the Aquarius.
-
I beat you to it! (Not for proof, of course, but for better documenting the rarer titles.)
-
Welcome to AtariAge, and congratulations on completing your Aquarius collection! That's no small feat, considering the rarity of some of the software titles. Coincidentally, I was thinking just yesterday about this very subject. I was putting some of my more unusual-sized boxes (Atari JagCD and XEGS games and Odyssey2 Master Strategy games) into their own protectors, now that protectors are finally available for them, and it occurred to me that the Aquarius is about the only system left which does not have its own protectors. I believe that some box protector vendors have offered to make protectors in custom sizes, but to the best of my knowledge, none have been made as yet for the Aquarius. I'll have to make some inquiries about this, because I'd love to have them myself. (By the way, would you be willing to take some close-up pictures of some of your Aquarius game boxes? I'm putting an Aquarius website together and I'm looking for higher-quality pictures of some of the rarer titles. Send me a PM if you can. If I can get some Aquarius box protectors made, perhaps we can work out a trade!)
