  1. Now as I said in a previous thread, I am making the finishing touches on a large History Textbook on gaming which will be a big deal once it is done. But there are some things that uh, hopefully I can get some smart people here to clarify. So here are my questions: 1.It is said that Coleco did not drop the Colecovision because of the crash (In fact there are some unverified sources that say the console made it to 1985) but the reason they dropped the Colecovision was because they had a choice between it and the CBK and not seeing the fad, though they would be the next mattel. 2.I hear that the Colecovision sold modestly during 1984-1985. Is this an accurate statement? 3.Colecovisions sales are often cited at 6 million to 3.5 million and around. One statement says that the 6 million is right or they sold more due to a CBK promotion for the Colecovision, which i have not been able to find evidence of. Perhaps someone here has more information. 4.There are claims of news articles were the Colecovision was in a rough war with Atari and outselling it fast. Some say there were people throwing bricks or relates to break windows of shops that would not stock anything but 2600's(and 5200's) but have not been able to fin evidence that actually bring one to come to that definite conclusion. 5.The Colecovision has in some places with some questionable proof to be the influence and/or cause of creation of most consoles until the TG16/PC engine. Some say that the design was even the reason for the current NES and SMS that we have today. 6.A complete list of actual released Adam games seems to be very hard to fine with an accurate list. I was wondering if our resident experts had this information? 7.Rumors say that like the Intellivision, Coleco had lock-out technology in their system. i always believe it was not true but correct me if I am wrong, i must be accurate with these statements in the book. 8.What was the goal of the Adam computer? Some say it was made after the crash as a way to make the Colecovision gain more power. some say they never intended to compete and wanted to get on the computer market from the start. Others say that it was the cause of Colecos drop of the CV. 9.A source stated that nintendo was planning to buy the Colecovision but Coleco refused, and that there were other japanese developers Coleco have met. The closest I have is a small mention of a meeting with Nintendo but not much else. 10.Coleco apparently made a deal with Bit corp, although i don't have paper material on this meeting, and the DINA was made. although it seems that there is no indication of the success of this platform. 11.I have a source that states the colecovision was the FIRST home console with a computer processor. true? 12. Hear of numerous sales records being broken by coleco till 85. Anybody know what record there are? The most i see is 1 million sold the first year. 13.It is said that the coleco port of Donkey Kong is the only complete version of the arcade games with all the levels. Even stating the Wii version did not have all the levels or the NES version. 14.Last but not least, it is said the Adam was a catastrophe even at the introduction and there were numerous reports on issues. although i am looking for reference near or in that time period instead of hindsight as I have both for every article except for 2 consoles. (like the Arcadia) These will complete my colecovision section, which even has some clones you may not have heard of, the history of the modules and more. But these questions here are needed to be answered for the complete package.
  2. Hello I am John Mayor (yes my last name is spelled that way) and as a long time viewer of Atari age (forgot my old account password) and a homebrew game maker, and being old like some people here, I have been working on a book that will change how everyone looks at the history of video games. The Book is 2cm less width and height of your average dictionary, so a compact text book with 3767 pages filled with history and detailed information for most consoles form their launch and every year till their downtime. The book is filled with references and articles including links that can be accessed when reading the Ebook version of easy to find sourced material. I have deals with several companies for the book and it will be the book most sites like database and wikipedia will quote as it will turn everyones mind inside out of the truth and what smart and/or one headed decisions companies have made over the years. with most consoles having at least 40 (5 have 20) pages dedicated to them giving you the ultimate run down. Now from here some of you are probably asking WELL WHY DO YOU NEED HELP? [/b]Simple, references to things like the Colecovision, Video Game crash, the 7800, Astrocade etc, and a few other out of the end consoles (like Gamegear, CDTV, Arcadis etc.) only have partial information and for some of these there are a lot of "conflicting" sources and references. I know from reading these years that this site has some smart people who have the information i need to finally get this book complete by march if not sooner or very very closely later.[/b]
  3. Game.com Version 2 has a better screen. Some games like Resident Evil and arcade ports of some classics are very well done and considered to be the best on the system. The issues is the most promoted games were rushed or were made terribly but they were prooted because franchises like Mortal Kombat were system sellers. They should have focused on the strengths of the system. Like when you play Virtua fighter on the Game.com the effects are impressive but how they use them is sub-par. If they had only tried used those features in A grade titles. It's similar to the N-Gage, although the N-Gage has a better library, I think it was mostly it's other issues that hurt it. Seems they were making a game machine first and a phone second. Hee Hee Game.com I heard has quite a following in mexico.
