I sure hope the GDC people involved in the decision to drop the award read this first hand account, if not it should be blasted over a loud speaker at the next GDC to remind them how knee-jerk reactionary their decision was.

Daily Outrage Machine describes it perfectly, it seems from the other things I've read that the people outraged were no part of, or even alive, during the 70s tech boom and are outraged by a few sentences they may have read. The number of females that were at Atari that have responded in support of Nolan speaks volumes, in my opinion. This outrage at Nolan serves no purpose but to dilute the genuine issues brought up by the #metoo movement. These same DOM's would probably scream "sexual assault" if someone looked at them funny or asked then if they wanted to go for coffee.

Also, depending on what is in the background, you could have an animated background card, then a mob, then anither mob to get 3 colours, albeit with the background card being double the height compared to a native mob.

Probably not Gosub but "16" might have a custom zone where the player can edit, save and play a custom zone.

For my purposes it is literally just building the screen, collisions in the game were standard mob to card collisions, so, if you touched anything with the body of your sub you died. The letters specify starting spots of things like the Sub, Octopus, Chest etc. I don't see any reason it couldn't do more, I just didn't need it. The editor itself isn't really amazing, the cursor over the tile set at the bottom is a Mob, as is the cursor moved by the disc. The side buttons move the selector over the tiles, the third button stamps it in the level. How you ask? Whatever card that is under cursor is just copied to the spot the other mob occupies. I might release the source for reference after I'm done my next game (code named "16" for now) it certainly isn't general purpose but could be modified. I'll be trying Joe's file I/o examples about as soon as I get a couple hours free.

Here is another sample level i dug up The bubbles are deadly, but you could try to sneak past them along the lava (knowing that the periscope doesn't have collision detection) but you need to get the key first, which starts off next to the octopus...depending on where this level would have ended up, there might be a starfish guarding the chest.

I loved going to Arcade Expo when it was in January but having it in March now means I can't go since it is two weeks before spring break family vacations. And for some reason the one they had in October was scheduled at the same time as PRGE.

This current game could use better graphics and sound.

Actually there were only two members and we were going to get t-shirts but we couldn't agree...adding more members might make a majority decision easier.
