Do you have "the box"?
mynameistom22000 replied to Cobra Commander's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I sometimes have a box...when I end up going on a thrifting/garage sailing spress and end up buying dozens of games, they get placed in a box, along with systems, controllers, and other things i need to test. Lately, I have actually caught up and tested all my games and systems, so I don't have a box right now, but once summer starts I am sure the backlog of games will add up and just be boxed for when I have time to play them all.. -
Contra - A Nearly Flawless Game
mynameistom22000 replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I've managed to get to the last level without using any cheats, and not using a continue..However, I can not manage to beat the game without using a continue. I can not even fathom being able to beat the game without using a powerup, though I am sure it would be very fun to attempt. -
Whats your favorite system to collect for?
mynameistom22000 replied to sega saturn x's topic in Classic Console Discussion
NES is definitely my favorite system to collect for. Tons of fun games, and usually can be had cheap, which is always a plus. And, I love the cart design and the system, can be found easy, but still fun to hunt for. -
need help with resident evil 4
mynameistom22000 replied to AlexKIDD's topic in Modern Console Discussion
The sliding puzzle was easy..now, the one I had trouble with was the 3 or 4 turn one...I could not get that for ages, so I looked it up on GameFAQs...the lights got me for awhile too, until I actually paid more attention to the light patterns -
My TRU was only 70% off, but i still ended up getting: Dreamcast: NFL 2k1 NBA 2K1 World Series Baseball 2K1 Tennis 2K2 Carrier Sega Bass Fishing ChuChu Rocket GBA: Sword of Mana Im probably going to go back once I get my next paycheck this week and grab whatever else they have. The above total came to 20$ I believe.

I love North and South...I played it on an emulator once and thought it was a blast. Of course, I've never found a copy in the wild, but I'm searching...

Info about pirate NES cart
mynameistom22000 replied to SimonTemplar's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If you have a spare NES system, just make one for Famicom games only, and then you could keep the adaptor in there.. -
Thanks for the info! I went to my EBGames today and with the buy 1 get 1 free sale, and my EB Edge card, I got 10 games for 25$! I got some NES and Genesis games that I didn't have(some were complete) and I don't mind paying that little for all of those, some good games I guess(Ghouls 'N Ghosts) and some other stuff...I was happy I probably will go back and pick up some more games if the sale is still going on next weekend..
-
Yea, I noticed that too...I got Phantasy Star IV for Genesis for 4.99$, cart only. A few days later, a boxed Snake's Revenge(NES) for $6.99..I've picked up a few other carts too there, and since I decided to sign up for that EB Edge card, I save like 10% on used stuff, so it does add up to savings...

DDR and the Final Fantasys make me want a PS2..also quirky games like Mr. Mosquito and the Gallop Racers...theres a ton other games I know I would get and enjoy if I got one. I only have a GCN at the moment, and I don't even support that much, even though there's a bunch of titles I want..I always wait and wait until they go down to the 10$-20$ range and now it's too late to find some I wanted...

Consoles need lovin' too
mynameistom22000 replied to KaineMaxwell's topic in Classic Console Discussion
All I've been playing lately is my GBA SP and Halo on the computer....my NES and GCN have been getting the most play after the first 2. My Sega Master System and Sega CD are largely ignored(I just don't have any good games for them). My Genesis and Dreamcast get some and for the first time in a long while, today I played Atari because I needed something simple to play. My Intellivision, Virtual Boy, PS, and N64 just sit on some shelves and are rarely played.. -

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
mynameistom22000 replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Got a Dreamcast memory card, a joystick(Atari 2600, 3rd party model) and NHL 94 for Genesis for 5$ today at the thrift...it is pretty dry around here lately.. -
Just bought a SP And boy, is it nice....I went out today and hunted down one of the NES style "retro" SPs...took me 3 gamestores, Kmart, and a Media Play, but I finally got one..and actually come to think of it, it was the first one I had ever seen. And now it is sitting in front of me with Zelda in it..I gotta say, I'm glad I finally got one, maybe worth the wait even. It's just the fact that I don't play too many handheld games that kept me away from it. But I have one now and I'm content. If you want one, definitely go out and buy it...to me, it's definintely worth the 80$ Now I just gotta hunt down all the classic NES series...

Replaced the 72 pin connector in my NES
mynameistom22000 replied to sabeen557's topic in Classic Console Discussion
But I like messing with my systems ...I probably will end up buying a few in the near future to make sure my systems work..I might start selling the extras on Ebay..and a new 72pin is certainly more reliable than my job... But, bending them back doesn't take too much effort -
Replaced the 72 pin connector in my NES
mynameistom22000 replied to sabeen557's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I just bent the pins back to place in my 72 pin connector...on all 3 of my NES systems...they work like new now. There was no need to shell out money(granted, a really small amount) for something I can fix myself just as easily.. -
I said 300$ because, well, I would rather not have a proto, I would rather have a dozen or so completed games to play. Even if it was one-of-a-kind, I wouldnt want to spend too much. If I did get one,I would have no means to dump it or what not, so i would probably trade or put it up for auction.

Yay! My waiting has slowly been paying off...they came out with a NES-style one, and now dropped the price.. I really should think of picking one up soon..

GameCube controllers... which ones DON'T suck?
mynameistom22000 replied to Jess Ragan's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Buy a Wavebird...3rd party controllers suck in general, and a wireless one that can, indeed go through walls and great distances(I have done multiple tests myself) is the best thing. I love my Wavebird for GCN games...and it does not go throygh batteries really quickly...I've replaced mine twice a year maybe. So, if not a wavebird, a 1st party one definitely -
Who here has heard of this game?
mynameistom22000 replied to mrgameandwatch's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There was a game called CheetahMen in the Action 52 cart..a harder to find, cart with 52, terrible, terrible games on it. The company later released a sequel to CheetahMan called CheetahMan II, also for the NES. It is also a harder to find, not to mention unliscensed(I believe) game... -
new NES in box
mynameistom22000 replied to kenny ice cold 3000's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Depending on condition and what not, I think even up to 40$ would be a good, fair price to pay for a boxed system. Systems in gamestores seem to go for about 30$ with/without box nowadays, and all types of conditions On ebay at the moment, they are going for roughly 20$ to 40$ starting bids/bid-on right now, so I would guess in that range..Of course, me being cheap, I would pay maybe up to 25$, but then again, I don't like paying too much -
I opened both of them before I went to bed last night. There's something special about the smell of a 11 year old game manual. I'm gonna play them sometim later today. And Fun 'N Games had a really big poster, which was pretty cool...So I am glad I opened them. My sealed POW(NES) gets to stay sealed, as I luckily have another copy of that....
