  1. looking great! And a fun game too. Keep it up and thanks for sharing.
  2. That's awesome. Lots of folks here would love that! Post here and people will download and read it for sure. But I suggest reaching to Kay Savetz at internet archive. kay @ savetz.com https://www.savetz.com/ He really takes Atari Archiving seriously and will appreciate this find for sure. Sounds very special. Thanks for sharing with the community. Eric
  3. Check eBay and search "atari 800 cartridges". They won't be cheap or plentiful, but some will almost always be available. You can also search "atari 8bit cartridges" .
  4. yeah, i did the same thing one time to a 130xe top case. I didn't both to remove the "Atari 130XE" insert/label thinking it would be just fine. In the end, the case looked terrific but the label looked awful afterwards. Had to be patient for a long time to finally find an acceptable replacement for that label. Would have been much easier to carefully lift it and remove the label first. I've never tried retrobrighting a 410. Not sure if that label lifts off easily or not.
  5. I have one "Frankenstein" system I built out of various leftover/extra parts, including a pal motherboard and two difference pieces (top and bottom) of ntsc cases, and a random keyboard I had available. It all works fine, but the case fit at the seams isn't perfect. It's like some of the tolerances are just a bit.
  6. Very cool. There are 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't. Game looks great!
  7. I will also throw in my endorsement for the Hercules workshop cables. By far the best I have experienced. And they will customize them for whatever lengths you might want too.
  8. Assuming it really works, that's a very good deal. Actually, even if it doesn't that's still a good price these days!
  9. If I could have about 20 packs of extra strings(at least the high e and b strings!) Then I would go for an acoustic guitar for sure!
  10. Oh man, how in the heck did I leave Archon off of my list? Especially if the monkey enters the equation!
  11. Top 5 is so tough!! If I stick with only "old school back in the day games" and only one-player (no monkey): Necromancer Alley Cat Shadow World World karate champ Mr. Do! If a monkey shows up, then: M.U.L.E. Zombies(Realm of Impossibility) I really hated that I could not include... Jumpman junior Ultima ][ Gladiator Load runner Zone ranger Drop zone Ixion And later releases... Assembloids XE. Yoomp! Bosconian Animal party
  12. Nicely executed! Fun classic game, done very well.
  13. Your can also use a 2600-dapter, they work very well, and you can use any of your real joysticks you love, and paddles too. http://www.2600-daptor.com/
  14. I like it. It buys back some real estate and still looks nice and clean.
  15. You should be able to use the same cable you are using for the 800xl.
  16. Definitely the cause. clean thoroughly, both drives before you run any more disks through them. It's a good habit to get into to just run a cleaning through every so often when you are handling older disks. In fact, if you are dealing mainly with old disks i'd recommend a light cleaning run between every disk swap you do. Just give it a minute or so after each cleaning to be sure moisture is gone before putting in next disk though. In addition to avoiding the disk damage, you'll also probably be surprised how much better success you have reading order disks in general when you start doing this more often. I was! This is a case where "being groovy" is NOT cool.
  17. That's exactly what I was trying to do and could never get it to work. Then I was told that the boot drive needed to be sdrive max otherwise the system wouldn't know it was there. So I gave up. I'll have to give it another try if people are saying they can indeed get theirs to work this way though. That's encouraging.
  18. My experience has been that you can't pick a drive 2 assignment on SDM without also having something assigned to drive 1 on SDM as well.
  19. Both of those demos are terrific. And yes, it's very cool to see them just load up memory all at once using the U1MB. I did the same with bad apple. Very nice.
  20. I've had great experiences with their AV cables as well, they are truly shielded properly. All other things equal, all my systems look better going through their cable.
  21. I'm new to the U1MB world too. I've always primarily used AtariMax MyIDE2 (along with MyBIOS and Sys-Check2, which is a great combination for expanding memory and/or alternate OS without any hardware mods needed, in my opinion). And also the S-Drive Max device, which is also really useful. Or I still use SIO2PC-USB with APE straight off my PC. I recently installed U1MB and it is up and running, but I haven't done much with it yet. I am thinking I will probably get a SIDE3 before I make the "full plunge" into the U1MB world. Seems very cool so far! All that said, what are most "U1MB folks" doing for ATR image loading/execution and manipulation? PS: I too am interested in the OP question about suggested things (games/demos) that really showcase the U1MB capabilities. But I also just want to know best way to use it in a daily driver... load some XEX files, load some ATR images, etc. ? -Eric
