neglected 80's coin-ops on modern consoles
DriftChamp replied to chrisbid's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Q*Bert always sucked on home consoles because of the controls (NES and SNES versions at least). I think it's one of those games were you really need a joystick controller, so it might work well with the analog thumbsticks on newer consoles. Mr Do!, Pengo, and Burgertime were some of my favorite arcade games too. I'd also like to see APB, WWF Wrestlefest, Avengers (not the Marvel comic), Ivan's Stewart's Super Off Road, the Simpsons, and a ton of other games get arcade perfect ports to the modern systems. -
If anyone need a GC disc wallet, send me a PM. I have a couple of official Nintendo ones that I never used. They're the ones that were included in the Zelda system bundle from Wal-Mart last X-Mas. It's just a zippered wallet with a Gamecube logo and holds 6 GC discs. You can have it for just the price of postage.

The game is worth the $20 just for Smash TV alone. I agree with what others have said about the presentation. It has an awkward menu system. Some of the video interviews are poor quality and the voices are a little out of sync (or maybe I just got a bad copy of the game). I guess my complaints are minor, since what really counts is the gameplay. Anyways, I hope they improve the menus on the second volume coming out.

Secret of Mana is still my all time favorite RPG. A lot due to the fact that you can play it with a friend or two. The ones I've already played are Secret of Mana (SNES), Legend of Mana (PS1), Baldur's Gate (PS2), and Legend of Alon Dar (PS2). I have PSO on the GC also. It was fun online, but the split-screen co-op play isn't as good. Can anyone recommend another fun co-op console RPG? I've pretty much got all the major consoles, so what system it's on doesn't really matter to me.

The Best Marketing Campaign(s)?
DriftChamp replied to RCmodeler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I also think the Zelda bundle is a great idea, but it's a little too early to tell how successful that marketing idea will be. Anyone remember when Nintendo game away copies of Dragon Warrior for suscribing to Nintendo Power back in the day? Another good marketing gimmick by Nintendo was with Zelda The Wind Waker. I never pre-order games. I did with Wind Waker though, just to get the Ocarina of Time Disc. In terms of commercials for marketing campaigns, my favorite one is: The old SMB3 commerical where everyone is chanting "Mario, Mario" and then they zoom out to a view of the earth with Mario's face formed by all the people. -
The Best Marketing Campaign(s)?
DriftChamp replied to RCmodeler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'd say it was The Wizard movie, which was basically a 100 minute commercial for Nintendo and Super Mario Bros 3. -

How much would you pay for a SMS?
DriftChamp replied to Jasoco's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I wouldn't pay $40 for a SMS unless it has at least 5 games with it. I need 18 more games to complete my US SMS game collection. Anyways I think the SMS is a great system with a lot underrated games like: Spellcaster Golvellius Wonderboy in Moster Land Double Dragon (with 2 player action unlike the NES version) -
Recommended 32X and Sega CD games?
DriftChamp replied to Jasoco's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My favorite Sega CD games are: Final Fight CD Sonic CD Snatcher Rise of the Dragon The Space Adventure Panic! Popful Mail Lunar The Silver Star Lords of Thunder Dungeon Explorer I'm also one of the few that found some of the FMV games kinda entertaining like Time Gal, Road Avenger, Masked Rider, etc. -
There were also a bunch of other Mega Drive games that were released in Europe, but never released on the US Genesis. Some of which that I already own are: Addams Family Values Gunship Zero Wing Yogi Bear Maui Mallard Second Samurai Mega SWIV Rise of the Robots Daffy Duck Flink Micro Machines 2 Micro Machines Military Super Fantasy Zone Man Overboard I'm still looking for: Alien Soldier, Megaman The Wily Wars, Snake Rattle and Roll, Daze Before Christmas, Smurfs, Turbo Outrun, and Mr Nutz. I know there probably about a couple dozen more games that I haven't mentioned that were European exclusive games.

It was released on the Japanese and Euro Mega Drive systems, but not on the Sega Genesis.

I read at Planet Gamecube that Capcom accounced Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube and PS2. The game will include: * 10 Mega Man games on one disk. - Mega Man 1 through Mega Man 8 - Two never before released in the US Mega Man arcade games: Mega Man the Power Battle and Mega Man 2 the Power Fighters * Additional content – Unlock hidden original artwork, producer interviews, footage from the original TV commercials, anime videos and information about the entire franchise * Updated soundtracks Looks like game companies are finally getting the message. I'm definately getting this and the Nintendo Zelda compilation disc coming out. Now only if they'd only do a Super Mario Bros, Metroid, or Castlevania compilation disc also.

I'm gonna vote for the Microsoft X-Box (S-Type) controller. I couldn't stand the SMS control pad back in the day. I hated the D-Pad on it. The control just didn't seem as accurate as the "+" shaped D-Pad on the NES. Also the SMS pad didn't have a separate start button.

General Custer.

I'll vote for the Atari CX40. The N64 controller sucked. The analog stick was extremely fragile and always broke. Also, it felt too awkward (it was positioned too close to the buttons).

I don't know how many of you guys have heard about this already. In the current issue of GamePro (issue 180 with the Metal Gear Solid cover), there's an article about video game urban legends ("Secret Lies" pages 40-41). One of the urban legends talks about how Atari dumped millions of ET carts into a landfill in NM. The interesting thing about the article is the photo that goes with it. I think the pic is supposed to be a bulldozer with an Atari logo on it scooping up tumbleweed in the desert. The interesting thing about it is that it's obviouly not a desert and its definately NOT tumbleweed (it appears to be a toy bulldozer on top of a woman, and the tumbleweed is her pubic hair! lol) I wonder if GamePro did this intentionally (athough I have no idea why they would) or the editor never caught on. It makes it kinda look like she took this pic while on the crapper. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3037810330

Cleaning that nasty sticker residue completely...
DriftChamp replied to King Atari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I use either Goo Gone or De-Solv-It citrus solution. I think it's easily worth the $4, especially if it saves you from damaging a label or two. -
That's a great deal you got. You could probably sell Snatcher alone on ebay for more than what you paid for the whole package. If you do decide to sell it, make sure you try and play it first. It's by Hideo Kojima (the guy who did Metal Gear Solid). It's kind of a short and easy game, but it's totally worth playing. I remember only a couple parts in the game gave me trouble (the hospital and the part where you have to describe the girl). I wish Konami would make a sequel. easy fix copy this game and sell the original , you should make your money back from just this one game

Rating the Sega Master System RPGs
DriftChamp replied to Cybergoth's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Phantasy Star and Golden Axe Warrior are my favorite RPGs on the SMS. Although I think that Spellcaster and Golvellius are totally underrated. Spellcaster took me awhile to get into, but after that I was hooked. It's not really an RPG (it's a side-scrolling action game and a menu based game with RPG elements). Golvellius is a fun game too if you like the original Zelda. It played from an overhead view like Zelda, but the dungeons were like a side-scrolling action game or like a vertical shooter where the screen kept moving up. What I also like about it was that most of the screens had hidden secrets (just like in Zelda). -
Someone really liked RPGs -=Sega Saturn BRAG=-
DriftChamp replied to rsiddall's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Congrats on that great haul. I'm jealous Not only do those games sell for a ton on eBay, they're also fun games to play. Saturn Bomberman is one of the best party games on any system (10 player support!), and Dragon Force is one of my favorite games of all time. I wish I had a game shop around me that priced games like that. The closest I've ever come to that was when I found a couple of copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga for $10 each at the swap meet. -
Have you tried cleaning the cart first with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol and a q-tip first? Most of the time that will do the job. It's rare for me to come across a dead cart. As for T-Mek's rarity. It's definately worth more than a buck. I have almost all the U.S. 32x games except for two: Spider-Man Web of Fire and World Series Baseball Starring Deion Sanders. I'd rank T-Mek's rarity in the next group of games along with Star Trek Academy/Primal Rage/Pitfall The Mayan Adv.
