Fat Albert (Atari 2600) Reserve/Interest No payment now. This topic is to RESERVE a copy and to see how many will be needed. This will be a boxed and numbered LIMITED EDITION. Fat Albert Boxed LIMITED EDITION. Includes: Fat Albert Cartridge Box Instructions Numbered Limited Edition Card Fat Albert Sticker Price should be $30 plus shipping. Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail and International will be Air Mail. Fat Albert is a hack of the Atari 2600 game Fast Food that was done way back in 2000. I set out to brush it up a little and fix a few things that I never liked. You can follow the original topic that led to the creation of the new version here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/241026-anybody-know-the-guy-that-made-the-fat-albert-hack/ FAT ALBERT Reserve: 01- RESERVED 02- RESERVED 03- RESERVED 04- RESERVED 05- RESERVED 06- RESERVED 07- RESERVED 08- RESERVED 09- RESERVED 10- RESERVED 11- RESERVED 12- RESERVED 13- RESERVED 14- RESERVED 15- RESERVED 16- RESERVED 17- RESERVED 18- RESERVED 19- RESERVED 20- RESERVED 21- RESERVED 22- RESERVED 23- RESERVED 24- RESERVED 25- RESERVED 26- RESERVED 27- RESERVED 28- RESERVED 29- RESERVED 30- RESERVED 31- RESERVED 32- RESERVED 33- RESERVED 34- RESERVED 35- RESERVED 36- RESERVED 37- RESERVED 38- RESERVED 39- RESERVED 40- RESERVED 41- RESERVED 42- RESERVED 43- RESERVED 44- RESERVED 45- RESERVED 46- RESERVED 47- RESERVED 48- RESERVED 49- RESERVED 50- RESERVED 51- RESERVED 52- RESERVED 53- RESERVED 54- RESERVED 55- RESERVED 56- RESERVED 57- RESERVED 58- RESERVED 59- RESERVED 60- RESERVED 61- RESERVED 62- RESERVED 63- RESERVED 64- RESERVED 65- RESERVED 66- RESERVED 67- RESERVED 68- RESERVED 69- RESERVED 70- RESERVED 71- RESERVED 72- RESERVED 73- RESERVED 74- RESERVED 75- EBAY So what is different in this version over the original Fat Albert hack that was made by DaveM (David Marli)? CHANGES: - Fat Albert sprite has been redesigned and is now the correct colors - All food items have been redesigned - Fat Albert must now avoid an animated dog sprite and not the dreaded purple pickle. - The dog makes a woof sound when Fat Albert touches it. - Voice has been added to the game intermissions. - Redone title graphic to show sponsorship by Jello Pudding Pops - Lives remaining are now shown by six heart symbols that are replaced one by one as the player gets bitten by dogs. - Several minor touch ups throughout the game.

Mousetrap does have two dog like sounds, one when you pick up a bone and another when you use it. I will check out the new version. -

I wanted to post this here for the people who don't read the general Atari 2600 forum. You can read the original topic if interested. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/241026-anybody-know-the-guy-that-made-the-fat-albert-hack/ Fat Albert is a hack of Fast Food done years ago by DaveM (David Marli). He only ever posted once at AtariAge and it was in response to some praise for Fat Albert. It bothered me that Fat Albert's head was left as several shades of purple and knowing that it is an easy fix I went ahead and corrected it it. As most people know a typical Atari sprite can only be one color per horizontal line. That left a problem with the original head sprite since his hair goes down the back of his head. In order to have his face and hair different colors they can't be on the same horizontal line. I added an ear to fill up the big blank space. I always have to start tweeking other things once I start on something. The next thing I did was change the title graphic at the bottom of the screen. I added Jello Presents to do a tie-in with Jello Pudding Pops. A What If back in the day Fat Albert was really made for the Atari 2600 instead of Fast Food and it was sponsored by Jello. It was then suggested by Crazy Climber to change the purple pickle The dog was quickly added but something was missing, it was not animated. Now it is. Don't get chomped!!! In the original game you lose a life/chance every time Fat Albert eats a Purple Pickle. You get 6 lives before the game is over. Each time Fat Albert eats one it is displayed under the score so you can keep track. I added a line of 6 hearts that are replaced one by one with a dog as you lose lives. Not really needed but I thought it was cool. Also changed the color from purple to red. The next thing was to try to improve the items that Fat Albert eats. Here are the original items and my changes. Fast Food: Purple Pickle Green Pickle Root Beer Cola Soda Pop Hot Dog Hamburger Ice Cream Bar Milk Shake Ice Cream Cone French Fries Pizza Cheese Burger Fat Albert: Dog Coke Hamburger French Fries Pizza Ice Cream Cone Coffee Pineapple Cake Pudding Pop Astro Pop Banana Cherry Roasted Pig The Intermission screens were already pretty much perfect and basically unchanged. I did do a few tweaks here and there but nothing of note. And that brings us to the latest version. Here is a video and the BIN file: Fat Albert release ver 2 BIN: Fat Albert release ver 2.bin There are plans to try to add voice to the game. Hey Hey Hey and Game Over. iesposta is trying to implement that feature. I will post any updates here. Here is a composite video showing how the voice should work:

So it would be something like this? -

It would be a box, cartridge and instruction sheet. If I do away with a regular box and package it in a Pudding Pops box it should be around $25, closer to $30 for a printed Fat Albert box. -

They both sound great!! I think these two samples alone would be enough. I don't think the pause for speech before the graphic would be too bad. It won't affect game play so it should be fine. If you can add the voice I will wait as long as it takes before having cartridges made. -

I was thinking under $30 for a boxed version. -

I have not tested it on real hardware so I don't know if I screwed anything up yet. Voice would be cool but I don't know how to do that. If anyone sees any issues just post them here. Here is the latest BIN: Fat Albert release ver 2.bin -

I make things for myself and if other people want it then I make it available. I changed a little more then just a few sprites. When I said "I hope to have a small release for my version also.", I meant some type of boxed version. I have no problem with you using the updated BIN for a cartridge only release. Here is the latest version. Fat Albert food items: Coke Hamburger French Fries Pizza Ice Cream Cone Coffee Pineapple Cake Pudding Pop Astro Pop Banana Cherry Roasted Pig -

CPUWIZ can make you the cartridge cheaper then I can offer. I think he is still willing to make a run. I hope to have a small release for my version also. Maybe a cartridge only version shipped in a Pudding Pop Box. -

I have played games with a 5 year old, a 9 year and with my kids in the 20's. The game is easy to learn and play but there is an under-current (pun ) of strategy for serious players. Luck has a factor too so everyone has a chance to win.

I have everything working in the latest version. Still need to do some color work and re-work some items. The big square item is a bag of cheese puffs. I have to stay within the original items sizes or the game crashes.
