  1. The 5200is the last Atari I don't have and I'm just not sure how to go about buying one. They all seem so dodgy on eBay with various issues and assorted crustiness. Talk about red headed step child, makes my Jag CD seem simple and reliable in comparison...

      I've said in the past that the 5200 is like a temperamental yet luxurious sports car: if you're a car person who enjoys restoration and maintenance and driving for pleasure as recreational activities, it's lots of fun to own, but it shouldn't be your first choice if all you need is a plain and dependable workhorse. That would be the XL/XE computer series, which plays most of the same games and has more of a variety of controllers.

      I'll say, get one, Missile Command and Centipede plays well with the trackball. Also, get the 2 port version, no need for that funky power box. If there is one with a control problem, easy fix.
