Lifelock reported someone tried to open a Biglots credit card with my ssn Saturday, and take a personal loan out from a website today. I confirmed neither of these were me and they are "investigating." Froze all three of my credit bureaus immediately. Damn scammers!!

  Any number of ways. Lifelock is nothing special, I have it for free through work. A lot of CC companies will do a free credit monitoring service these days as a free benefit.
