  1. Anyone ever had their setup start an electrical fire?  How paranoid do i need to be about this really?

      Be smart about not overloading things. Power strips with switches are your friend. You probably won't have everything turned on simultaneously, so a nest of wires isn't necessarily a fire hazard unto itself.

      For my game room I bought some power strips that have automatic shutdowns built in. So, the way it works is it I shut the television off, it will cut power to other things on the same strip. That takes care of my media setup. For all the power supplies for game systems I just book all of them to a 8 outlet surge protector that I manually shut down with the Power switch

      Also make sure to use 14 gauge wire in your power strips. I think the wiring to your outlet is 12 gauge. So you don't want to be drawing too much with a thinner gauge you see? That's where you could see some heat in the wiring and potential problem that way
