  1. I have some serious corrosion on the pins of an NES cart I bought. Cotton swabs and iso aren't doing it.  What can I use to safely remove these spots without damaging the cart?

I'm continually surprised (maybe even dismayed a bit) that DeOxit isn't more well-known. And even that generic contact cleaner isn't a go-to solution for this sort of thing. Instead the general populace relies on breath droplets and alcohol. All damaging!

When 91% isopropyl alcohol doesn't get the job done, I use a dab of brass cleaner (two common brands are Brasso and Weiman's) on a qtip, followed by a dry qtip, followed by another round of qtip with isopropyl. Very effective. Some will claim that brasso will destroy the contacts but I have never found that to be the case. To the contrary, it has brought back a few NES (and Genesis, etc.) cartridges from the dead!

The problem not necessarily in the in the cleaning. Sometimes cleaning can be too good.

A contact cleaner leaves a lubricating barrier behind that protects against wear and oxidation. Two major enemies against cartridges.
