  1. Frenzy - ColecoVision Frontline - ColecoVision Mine Storm - Vectrex
  2. For the XBOX 360 version, was the Crew Expendable bonus content included on a disc or did you have to download it like the Last Survivor content?
  3. A couple days ago, I re-installed Windows 98se on a tower that has a 20GB C: drive and an 80GB D: drive. Prior to the re-install, the 80GB drive worked fine (it was originally partitioned and formatted using Partition Magic, to get around the hard drive size limit issue in Windows 98). The install just over-wrote the OS files. The installed programs are all intact. No hardware changes were made. Since the re-install, everything works great -- except the 80GB drive. I can see and access the data on it, but the drive is really slow. Any copy, move, or delete operation takes forever to execute. Thoughts?
  4. The "Shopping mall" and "Sewers" boards look pretty awesome.
  5. I never pre-order anything. Having said that, I'm actually thinking of pre-ordering it for the bonus Nostromo mission. Does anyone know if the "Crew Expendable" bonus content for the XBOX 360 is on the disc, or is it a DLC like the "Last Survivor" content? I'm hoping it's on disc, since I'm not a big fan of downloadable content.
  6. Although Front Line already exists on the CV, but I'd love to have more terrain for it. So it would be the exact same game, just more land to traverse between the beginning and the main gun turret. It could be really simple too. Just change a few colors, move some walls, rocks, and foliage around. Place empty tanks here and there and voila!
  7. Can someone provide me with a step-by-step of how to use a Lantronix box. Say -- for example -- I wanted to connect to a BBS using an Amiga. What would I do?
  8. The ColecoVision version does include the reflective white wall levels. It also has Stravinsky's "Rites of Spring" as its pause music.
  9. Yep! Pretty sure this is the one I saw at a number of arcades. Thanks
  10. This is extremely cool, but the one I'm thinking of was a different one. This one kind of reminds me of the film, "Fantastic Planet."
  11. There are two pinball machines that I remember seeing a lot in the early 80s. One had a Giger-esque Alien on it and the other had one of Sorayama's chrome pin-up robot girls for its artwork. Does anyone remember who made these or what they were called?
  12. Please high-res scan the ColecoVision boxes. Most high resolution scans I've seen out there are pretty bad (scratches, wear, dirt, torn labels, etc...).
  13. I have stacks and stacks of modern games and only a few of them kept my interest for more than a month. There are days where I just about reach the point of throwing modern gaming out the door. Of course, I always hope that one truly spectacular game from my imagination will appear on the shelves. So far though, it's been a string of very similar games. I've now discovered that when they say "non-linear" then actually mean "linear". Voice acting - most of it makes me sick. Unskippable cut-scenes - yes, they still exist, even today. Then there are the numerous menu screens and 'hoops' that you have to jump through before you can even get to the action. Modern racing games are a great example of this. Spending 20 minutes going through all the preliminaries until you can get to the race track is unacceptable. I also totally agree about the barely-interactive movie aspect. Bleh!
  14. I've heard good things about Drivewire. If you have a disk drive for your Color Computer II and access to some old PC hardware, this is something worth checking out: Transfer files from a Windows 98se PC to native CoCo diskettes: http://www.voltage-control.com/cocotrns.html Here's a link to some info on doing a composite mod: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.hardware.tandy.coco/73371
  15. Better in 1984. Some examples: - Playing Gauntlet and Gauntlet II along side a steady stream of random people. - TRON, Battlezone, Subroc, Pole Position, Two Tigers, and Discs of TRON with their proper interfaces -- as they were meant to be played. - Star Trek : The Strategic Operations Simulator, Tail Gunner, and Star Wars environmental cabinets. - Real pinball tables. All of this located conveniently close to book stores, theaters, computer stores, and a food court.
  16. Star Trek: The Strategic Operations Simulator (arcade) Marble Madness (arcade) Top Gunner (arcade)
  17. If there was a proper retro arcade near me (i.e. darkness illuminated by neon and coin-op screens) with a selection of games that I liked, I'd be there once or twice a week. That is... if they'd let me pay by the coin, rather than a day-rate. It would also help if they played rock from 1978 to 1984. I'm thinking along the line of Journey here.
  18. The UK version is even shorter. They got it down to two syllables. Over there they say "Wurst-chur".
  19. "There's a bunch of zombies here!" "Please hold"
  20. As far as I can tell, this is a Japanese title. However, I really don't think it's a Japanese word. It doesn't follow any of the conventions of Japanese characters written with English characters. If it was to be said in Japanese form it would likely be Goo Du Kah Veh However, no self-respecting Japanese person would set themselves up for disaster by using an "L" like that. In my case, I've just been calling it Gull Cave, with the expectation that someday someone from Japan will correct me.
  21. Ah yes. People and their crazy-difficult levels. Way back when, my older brother's friend (who now works at Intel) decided to whip up some levels in the original Lode Runner. What he came up with was insanely difficult. Of course, he did it to keep me (the kid) busy for a few days.
  22. According to the manual, it was written by him: http://www.apple2scans.net/games/championship-lode-runner/ Although this site lists him as designer: http://www.apple2scans.net/games/championship-lode-runner/ So perhaps he wrote the original Championship Lode Runner and then others created versions for later systems.
  23. How do you play Mr. Do Run Run? I tried it, but I don't think I get it yet. Is there a strategy that you like to use?
  24. Atari 5200 Centipede Defender Mr. Do's Castle
  25. It's pretty out of control. Canada Post has really increased their shipping rates in the last three years. I send CDs to a distributor's warehouse in Portland and it costs almost twice as much to send them out now, as compared to about three or four years ago. It sucks, because it's pushing up the price per unit in order to maintain a slim margin.
