  1. Hard Drivin is awesome as a technical showcase for the lynx, its basically a 3D polygon racing game on something with the same cpu as the NES! It is possible to get used to the lag/controls and become good at it. But yeah, it's certainly not a smooth or good playing 3d game when compared to 3d games of the mid 90s and beyond

  2. As a kid in the early 90s, a main selling point for the lynx and game gear for me was that you could game in the dark with them, like, in your bed after your parents thought you were asleep.

However, that's moot anyway because my parents were too frugal to buy me any handheld game system when I was a kid despite my asking and wishing :)

  3. Was cruising ebay when I noticed this, an auction for 5 jaguar consoles and 1 jag CD unit.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-Jaguar-Console-LOT-of-5-/253542759662?hash=item3b08537cee%3Ag%3AC~oAAOSwtNdaxltT&nma=true&si=tq9fg9hlOspPohJN%252Fzsyfp9K75I%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

What caught my eye though was this information in the description

Lot of 5 Atari Jaguar Consoles – AS IS/UNTESTED

BECAUSE THIS IS A POLICE AUCTION, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, NO RETURNS ACCEPTED

    WESTSHORE ENFORCEMENT BUREAU

The Westshore Enforcement Bureau is a Law Enforcement Agency in Ohio. The items we are auctioning off are items that have been seized and forfeited or unclaimed. All proceeds go to our Law Enforcement Trust Fund.

I know the jag community is full of drama, but what kind of fun story could have resulted in 5 jag consoles being seized and resold by the police!

  4. I think it's very common for lynx screens to look like yours these days. I was concerned when I first got my lynx in 2013 and it looked like that, but after researching other people's forum posts on that issue of uneven lighting, it seems to be very common and some have said the screen has looked like that since back in the day. I think I heard the lynx lcd is actually composed of 3 different lcds next to each other, it could be that one of them is closer to the back light so has received more heat over the years resulting in the washed out stripe.

  6. I've bought used games before that contained high scores and/or level passwords listed in the high score/notes pages, it never bothered me and actually I kinda enjoyed it as a time capsule and/or goal to beat the scores of the previous owner. Frankly, that's what the high score table / notes section is for, for the owner to write notes or high scores, and these games are being sold as used, as in, previously owned. However, if there was extensive writing on other pages of the manual, such as pages that do not invite the owner to write on them, or if the item was sold as used but "like new" or mint condition and contained the scores, I could see a bone to pick with that.

  7. I had the opportunity to play this game recently and it did not live up to the ideas I'd built up in my head about it. It was good, but I didn't feel that it was any better than other similar games of the era such as Stellar Assault on the 32x in terms of graphics or gameplay.

  8. You can get an AV cable with the typical rca jacks on ebay or other websites. It's definitely worth the price compared to the awful rf cable. The jag cd library is tiny so there's only a handful of back in the day released games that you can possible try, no copy protection so a CDr is fine. Hoverstrike and Battlemorph are probably two of the higher quality retail releases for the cd.
