  1. Anyone have an idea of what would be the going / market rate for a jaguar kiosk these days? When I see them pop up very sporadically they are in excess of $3000 bucks, but then they sit and no one buys them for a very long time. I'd be inclined to pay a good bit because the darn thing looks really cool, but $3000 seems overpriced. Anyone have a feel for what historical ones might have sold for in the last 4-5 years?

  2. In the 90s there were two ataris who were separate companies with different management. One was tramiels Atari which made the Jaguar, and the other made all those cool arcade games like stun runner, hard driving marble madness road blasters and badlands. Many of those games were recreated for the lynx but I heard on the lynx forum the business relationship between the two companies was strained due to poor sales of the lynx software and tramiel Atari not making full royalty payments or something. Judging by the volume ofthose games on the lynx and the Genesis and the complete lack of any of the arcade Atari games on the jag it would seem that arcade Atari felt that doing things for the jag would be a losing proposition.

  4. Compared mine to some youtube videos, my reel of spaceships isn't moving as smoothly as others' reels do. Mine has a habit of periodically stopping, even if its on the amatuer setting. Also when I first turn it on, there is no explosion and SFX as happens on startup for other people's. Nevertheless, the main functionality is here, which is better than the dead machine I had the other day!

  5. Wow I completely fixed it. The only issue was that the red fire button was not appropriately situated and a little piece on the back needed to be inserted into a hole in the main assembly. All the main action parts work now, the laser fires, the explosion occurs, and the sound effects work. The only stuff not working is the following:

    -Speed control
-score counter (it'll flip multiple digits ahead in either or both columns when I score one shot, must be a problem with spring tension)

  6. Wow, that's a great video that gives me a good idea about some of the parts that aren't working and how they should function. So, I just put mine back together with the screws and all, and all of a sudden it worked for about 5 seconds, it played some sounds from the record player and the laser shot once, but then it stopped. Right now on my machine, the ships light up every time and now that I put it back together, the ship reel moves appropriately and the machine makes plenty of mechanical noise (although the speed control doesn't do anything). Outside of the few seconds, the shot doesn't appear to work so I guess the cylinder isn't rotating when I press down the button, and of course the explosion backdrop isn't moving, and outside of the one instance, the sound effects aren't working either.

Mine is a little corroded inside, its clear from the battery compartment and inside, some batteries leaked at some point, but since it worked for a couple seconds, there might yet be hope :) I'm open to any ideas to trouble shoot the cylinder and record player, it worked for a couple seconds so its just a matter of triggering these parts and not necessarily that the components are completely broken. I'll open it up and poke around some more, it might just need some unsticking (the ship reel seemed to magically start working again after I manually rotated it a bit when I had the machine open.

  7. I bought a broken Tomy mini arcade recently. The space ships light up so some part is getting juice from the batteries, but no motors are moving, the record player isn't moving, nothing else is happening except that the space ships light up. Clearly I need to open this baby up - but there are no screw holes?

I managed to find out from some online sleuthing that I will need to take the side art off, but are there other decals I need to take off to get at screws? Any screws or clips I'm overlooking outside of whatever is beneath the side art? I don't want to remove any more of the decals than I need to since they look pretty cool.

This is the machine I'm talking about btw, its an 80s toy, all mechanical motors and gears and LEDs, no computer.

  8. All my lynx games are the small box variety except for blue lightning. I know it was also released as a small box. Would anyone be interested in trading boxes? If you like we could trade either just the boxes, or the full CIB game, large box version with manual and game for small box version. My copy was NIB in great condition but I cut the shrinkwrap open at the top so I could take the cart out and play it. Your copy doesn't need to be NIB, just general good condition without too much wear would be ok.

  9. I like the aesthetic and the idea of this game on the Jaguar is great. It is a good technical achievement. But I have found the game to be quite boring to play, many missions revolve around finding a hidden item on the map, that's not fun or interesting to me. My view, it's not fun to play but it's worth it to own if you want to have a showcase for jaguar 3d power.

  10. Looking at having some more covers printed soon. Anyone remember what the covers from cover project typically need to be resized to for universal game cases? I remember it being like 99/98or 97% of the original size but forget which, I think I did my most recent one at 97 and it does look noticeable smaller and worse than some of my older ones (ie: product number on bottom of spine is a quarter inch higher than the others so it sticks out on the shelf as different, little annoying stuff like that)

  11. I'd like to attend one in the US, though I'm in the northeast so would prefer something in say Boston or New York City over Virginia. Maybe there could be a webcam at both events so that anyone who likes can connect and virtually say hi to a few people.

  12. Saw this over at Assemblergames, its a feature on the debut of the Gameboy in the UK. While Bullfrog indicates the gameboy is a good concept but could have been executed better, the Bitmap Bros. indicate that the gameboy's early games are very playable and the Lynx is no competition. That struck me as a little odd, while the gameboy has some great games and ultimately wound up with a huge software library compared to lynx, I don't see how anyone could so heavily discount the lynx when each system was in its early days. Lynx certainly had its own flashy and playable games at this point, and obviously because I am on a lynx forum in 2017, I think the lynx's capabilities were/are pretty excellent and on a technical level, much more impressive than original gameboy.

  13. No one is trying to dupe anyone here. There are no Chinese repros here. I simply bought golden axe as cartridge-only awhile ago, put it into a genesis case, and printed out a high res golden axe insert from the cover project at staples on some glossy paper so it would look nice with my other boxed genesis games. Now that time has passed and I've decided to sell it, I've indicated in the description for this sale that it is not an authentic insert so the buyer will understand that he is not getting the actual insert from the 1990s. :)

Similarly on my Blades of Vengeance auction, I have pulled the insert out to show the damage to the back of the insert, which is definitely not something the guy who sold it to me as "very good" bothered to do.
