Interesting. I was kinda wondering if the Atari "family entertainment centers" token might be a different kind of establishment to the adventure centers in light of the fact that there is another type of atari token that specifically says adventure on it.

I've seen atari arcade tokens on ebay with the atari logo. Did atari have a chain of arcades similar to how Namco and Sega had their own sponsored arcades? Googling is giving me surprisingly little information on this.

Really nice level graphics and parallax effects!

I really like the look of the background graphics. Great 2D art by the artist!

Lynx Prototypes Found: Rolling Thunder, GeoDuel, Vindicators, MORE
sirlynxalot replied to MacRorie's topic in Atari Lynx
Wow absolutely legendary stuff. Never thought I'd see some of these in motion. Somehow it seems familiar to me that Geoduel might have been designed for comlynxing, might be worth giving that a shot in addition to space war. -
Neat. I take it these were members of the Dev team?

Wow very interesting. I'll be following to see what comes of the stuff you found. Lynx prototypes are always welcome -
Anyone else sell all their Jag stuff and...

Fixed. It's been a while now I think that was basically all KB Toys locations. I think part of their business model was to act as a job lot - acquiring obsolete and cut rate inventory from other stores for low prices and selling it at a slight markup to the public. -
Did any of the other ports to cartridge systems allow for saving your entire park?

No, that one's different. It was this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-Jaguar-Console-And-Atari-Jaguar-CD-Attachment-Read-Description-/324274606047?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=QO9PJXaSB49oIH9Qc6PxXInNy6s%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc -
Anyone else sell all their Jag stuff and...
sirlynxalot replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Atari Jaguar
There was recently an "untested" "as is" jaguar and jag CD combo without hookups that popped up on ebay for a buy it now of $499. The seller had no other game items, so maybe it was actually just a matter of procuring ac adapters and video cables... I knew it was a good deal by jag standards, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy it at that price. If the jag and jag cd didn't work, I knew the idea that I spent $499 for broken non-working items would just kill me. I checked 24 hours later and it had been purchased. -

What if atariage offered a rent-a-jag service. People could put down a deposit + rental payment, and then rent a jag for a few months, then return it for the deposit. I think Howard Johnson's hotels used to do this with sega game gears. -

Even with all the talk about how expensive jag stuff is these days, I'd still dig deep for a Jag Duo if that project eventually turns into a real life item. -

I did sell my jaguar and jag cd about two years ago after realizing I hadn't actually played it at all for over a year. I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder, even though I don't absolutely love the jag's games, I have a soft spot for the system - how it looks, its potential power, its time in gaming history. In any case, I've been pricing jaguar systems again and yeah, they are no joke. I thought prices were high two years ago when I sold, but things have gotten out of hand, like broken Jag CDs selling for $600. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to be able to justify owning a jaguar again, unless the retro game market crashes and the prices are greatly reduced years from now. -
Atari Jaguar is FAR from the best console..

In my experience, Checkered Flag runs smoother in the Virtual Jaguar emulator than it does on the actual system. Also, the computer AI is laughable and no one should have trouble placing first, even if they are slamming into the wall on every turn. -
I've seen youtube videos/reviews of the jaguar system and games made in the last few years by people who look like they are still teenagers. You were probably born in the 1980s or earlier if you were old enough to see Jag at a store or on a commercial circa 93-96 and want one. I think the question boils down to, is there anyone younger than 30 these days who plays the Jag, and the answer is definitely yes. In terms of whether they are on this forum? Dunno.

It seems like you can play the game in your browser at this link https://chiptune.itch.io/zepton Comments on the page indicate its a voxel game. I'd wonder if the lynx resolution is good enough to do some of the things in the game, such as the number indicator counting down how close you are to an enemy. Also cool, you can shoot the buildings and wipe out voxels they are made from.

Cool! I tested each one out online for a quick minute of play (didn't vote yet). Some really cool graphics in these games!

Thanks, it's been a little while since I used Virtual Jaguar. You might want to give the Phoenix emulator a shot as well, I think it can play some games that VJ doesn't play (at least the last time I tried it) and some games have smoother performance. Kasumi Ninja works fine with Phoenix on my system.

Is there a particular jag emulator that runs this game? I tested it out in a few emulators and while the game booted and the menu loaded, I couldn't get into the actual gameplay/levels to play it.

How does Phase Zero compare to Air Cars? It seems somewhat similar, driving over landscapes on a hover vehicle shooting lasers at other hover vehicles.
