I don't (knowingly) buy counterfeit goods.

Consider getting a C128 instead. Runs (nearly) all c64 stuff plus the relatively few additional 128 mode games (and cp/m). Stock power supply is much better than the 64's. You still want to get a fully tested unit, of course.

Check out GameBase64 at www.gb64.com - putting 'Christmas' in the (contains) search box brought up 13 entries, and you'd probably find more if you search for variations like Holiday or Xmas.

Since the OP didn't respond, here's a picture of my CIB Demon Attack. Box & tray are not perfect, but not too bad either. And while I had it out, I took a photo of the only other boxed 3-rd party pcjr game I own:

Less than a week to Go! Looking forward to another great show.

How do I open one of these carts? There are no screws, just four small slots on the back. I'd hate to break a possibly one-of-a-kind item. I'm not set up to dump the cart, either.

What's up with Nintendo hardware shortages?
krslam replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Back to the topic of shortages, my local Fred Meyer has both 3DS and 2DS systems back in Stock as well as several Switch consoles and a dozen or so copies of Zelda BotW. No sign of the smaller black Friday 3DS or NES classic, though. -
Here's a pic of the DOS 2.1 cart. While digging it out, I also uncovered Demo-NFR versions of the Lotus carts. My notes say I have a copy of Moonsweeper but since I couldn't find it I'll accept that it's likely an error in my spreadsheet. The Andrew Tobias package includes both cart and disk.
-
Imagic also released Moonsweeper, and Spinnaker did Kindercomp. Amongst util/app carts not mentioned, I have Andrew Tobias' Managing Your Money, DOS2.1, and something called PCID - no idea what that one does.

Reminds me of the old Cheech & Chong bit about the "East West Chester North Stars, champions of the Southern Conference" I'm in the Seattle area.

In! Looking forward to another SainT release!

Selling vintage consoles in Craigslist, no takers
krslam replied to phoenixdownita's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Craigslist requires patience and a willingness to put up with flakes, but I've been able to use it successfully. I sell stuff for 20-30% less than ebay (low enough to make folk believe they're getting a deal, not so low as to appeal to the resellers) and figure I make up the difference by dodging fees, shipping costs, and bogus return claims. On the other hand, I'm not selling high value items. -
Fees and taxes buying on ebay from Venezuela to US
krslam replied to Atari Nut's topic in Auction Central
I bought a couple sealed games from Venezuela a few years ago, and US customs tore the boxes open, basically ripped them in half. Not the sellers fault so I didn't ask for a refund, but I don't buy games from there anymore. But there were no fees or taxes added, so that makes me a winner, right? -
From Wikipedia (unfortunately doesn't include any examples of incompatible programs): Some of the few C64 programs that fail on a C128 will run correctly when the CAPS LOCK key is pressed down (or the ASCII/National key on international C128 models). This has to do with the larger built-in I/O port of the C128's CPU. Whereas the SHIFT LOCK key found on both C64 and C128 is simply a mechanical latch for the left SHIFT key, the CAPS LOCK key on the C128 can be read via the 8502's built-in I/O port. A few C64 programs are confused by this extra I/O bit; keeping the CAPS LOCK key in the down position will force the I/O line low, matching the C64's configuration and resolving the issue. A handful of C64 programs write to $D030 (53296), often as part of a loop initializing the VIC-II chip registers. This memory-mapped register, unused in the C64, determines the system clock rate. Since this register is fully functional in C64 mode, an inadvertent write can scramble the 40-column display by switching the CPU over to 2–MHz, at which clock rate the VIC-II video processor cannot produce a coherent display. *EDIT* Found this info with a quick search on lemon64: Another cause of C64 programs not working on the C128 in C64 mode is that the SID register mirror images are missing on the C128 in C64 mode. At $D500, MMU registers exist on the C128 (invisible in C64 mode) and at $D600 the VDC port registers are placed. Wanted! Monty Mole, Frantic Freddie, Hawkeye, Delta, Scrolls of Abadon, Rescue on Fractalus, and Masters of the Universe have been mentioned as games either not working, glitchy, or missing music when run on a C128.

They probably meant that by disabling the write-protect, you can flip a disk over without having to cut a notch.

Commodore released the PET emulator for the C64 very early in that machine's life as a quick way to expand the 64's available software library. Of course the number of native C64 titles quickly outstripped those for the PET but it did provide some incentive for PET users to migrate.

I've got all the original carts, missing only boxes/manuals for Atlantis and Powerlords, a boxed console, and a loose Voice. Two different Multicarts, 55 of the original 61 Videopac releases, the chess module, the 4 Parker Bros games, 3 Brazilian exclusives (+ 9 Brazilian variants), 11 Canadian variants, and a couple homebrews. So, gold plus for me?
-
No Pikmin4 on the game list, so I guess I can skip this one.
-
I'd prefer it emulated the G7400 so we'd then get the extended graphics. Should be plenty of room for the entire original library and a fair number of homebrews. Would be nice if it included emulation of The Voice, too, since we're just dreaming.

Deleting the cookie restored the new content, but as soon as I log in it's gone again. If I then log back out, I can once again see new content. Log in again and it disappears.

Refreshing doesn't help. I guess if it's a known glitch I'll just keep trying until it clears up, though I'd never seen it before.

This just started this morning. When I choose View New Content, I just get a message that says 'Sorry, no new content found.' Happens regardless of other settings and on both my XP and Linux machines.
