Loved both games. I thought P2 was a nice upgrade to the original: more to do, some new Pikmin colors to learn, new areas to explore and critters to fight. Harder than the first game. Didn't feel as fresh to me as P1, though, but that's the way it is with sequels.

http://www.lemonamiga.com/ and http://www.amibay.com/ are decent Amiga-specific forums

Please provide an alternative download location. Seems my Polaroid tablet is an "unsupported device" on Google play.

I think it's taking longer than that. I was told in mid December that I was in an 8-week queue, and haven't heard from them since.

Funny / Stupid / Crazy / Lame Auction Listings

Why not? The cart version of Fort Apocalypse is damn hard to find and this is a sealed copy. Much more than I would pay but not really outrageous. -
PM sent!

Looks like most of them go unsold on ebay, even when priced at 99 cents. A few have gone for a couple bucks, and one (same as yours on the left) brought $5.50 (though identical issues went unsold at half that).

Setup question - C64 or C128, 1541 or 1571
krslam replied to Grig's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
JiffyDOS requires installation of a chip in the C64 and another one in each drive. It's possible that some soldering is required, depending on which board revision you have. With a 64 and 1541, there's also a switch to toggle between the JD and stock ROMs. Once installed, it's a terrific system. Highly compatible, works on both reading and writing, and adds several nice features. -

Check here: http://www.commodore128.org/index.php?topic=1008.0. There were about 40 issues of Loadstar 128, too, that aren't listed there and are full of 128 software. Keep in mind that 80-column programs will require a different video cable (and maybe a different monitor). Yes, it's got pretty good compatibility. Also, if a program refuses to load with it, you can press the English Pound key to bring up the menu and disable Fastload. There are only a few programs that would require you to actually unplug it. Sorry I don't know which ones. -

I'd go for the 128 + both 1571's. An Epyx fastload cart will give you faster C64 mode loading, but will always force the machine to boot in C64 mode. A Mach 128 will speed up loading in both modes and is switchable between 64/128, but is somewhat less compatible. There are a tiny number of 128 specific (or enhanced) games, and the 80 column mode is superior for programming and productivity apps. Having two drives hooked up will make copying disks much faster and easier. There are DIP switches on the 1571 so be sure to set one of them to device #9. -
What was YOUR very first computer?
krslam replied to OldSchoolRetroGamer's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
First I ever used was whatever mainframe the University had when I took a Fortran class. I remember those stacks of cards with no fondness whatsoever. First I used extensively was an HP9825, sort of a hybrid calculator/computer thingie. First I owned was a C64, although that was a couple years after getting a VCS. -
Likely its a Commodore 64 cart. Rumor has it you can fry your intellivision by putting a C64 cart in it.

The 128D with k/b can sell for anywhere between $50-$300 on evilbay depending on condition and the luck of the draw. The monitor might be worth $50-$100 if it's a 1080,1084 or 1084S model, less if it's a different model or brand. Mouse goes for $10-$20. Printer and other bits are probably not worth much. Keep in mind that ebay/paypal will take ~20% of the selling price in fees and put all the risk of a fraudulent bidder on you so you might be happier and net nearly as much by selling thru craigslist or an online forum.

Is This Pitfall II For The Intellivision?
krslam replied to jesusc's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
1st party Inty carts won't fit in a 64, at least not without really forcing it. Didn't try any 3rd party titles. -
Is This Pitfall II For The Intellivision?

Use this to your advantage. I got Congo Bongo for Inty cheap (<$10) on ebay because the seller listed it for C64. -
Were you the one who bought the television tennis by exectutive games on ebay? cuz it looks as if this system was the EXACT one that was one ebay for $30 the person didn' know the price even though it would be 3 out of 6 on pong-story.com Somehow I missed your question, so sorry for the delay in replying. I've never bought a pong unit on ebay, mine have all come from thrifts/flea markets/garage sales so it's unlikely I have the specific unit you're referring to. Despite appearances, I don't actively collect pongs. These just sort of fell into my hands while I was looking for other stuff.

Same for me, about 75% of which are 'complete'. The 7800 was the 1st and easiest system I ever got a complete set for.

Does anyone know how to repair Commodore computers?
krslam replied to the-topdog's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
I'd recommend contacting Ray Carlsen thru his website: http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/ Far as I know, he's still repairing Commies and there's no one better. Plus, he's not too far away from you so shipping shouldn't be too outrageous. -

1982/1983: What computer were you using in 1982/1983?
krslam replied to Blues76's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
82/83: Just a few years out of college. At home I was using a Commodore 64 with disk drive, monitor, and Star Micronics printer (can't remember model number, had a '10' in it). No modem. At work I used an HP9825 and a Kaypro II. The HP was part of a industrial testing rig. Printing was done on either the internal paper tape or a flatbed plotter. No modem. The Kaypro was used as a portable data logger and had a Mannesmann-Tally printer and a Hayes modem. Sorry, can't remember name of the modem software used, but it was whatever was common for cp/m machines of the time. I still have a C64 and a Kaypro, and am kicking myself for not grabbing one of the 9825's when we suplussed a couple pallets full of them in the mid-to-late 80's. -
