  1. Are you talking about their Adult Swim splashpage that looks like it was done on an NES? They've had that for a while. And I think a lot of kids know what an NES is. I just downloaded one of the new episodes of Doctor Who, "The Girl In The Fireplace", and Mickey was wearing a t-shirt with an NES joypad on it, with 'Know Your Roots' underneath it. I thought that was great. I wonder if they got permission from Nintendo for that.
  2. There's also the town of Arlington in Wisconsin, and Arlington township in Wisconsin. Confusing? Nah! It's like one town is on one side of the Star Trek parallel universe borderline, the other town's on the other side. You can tell, because the people in one town all have goatees.
  3. The Intellivision's border is pretty noticeable on a lot of games. Especially when there's scrolling onscreen. Like AD&D Cloudy Mountain or Hover Force. Their programmers were pretty good, though, and managed to distract you from noticing it with a lot of titles.
  4. I just wanted it for a quick use. Just to check out a cart. I wasn't expecting to spend the rest of my life with the thing. I'm fully aware of how low quality these types of things are, I just hoped I could get a single use out of it. It wouldn't even do that. I'm not a big fan of the NES, so there's no chance that i'm going to pay a lot of money to get a professionally refurbed NES. It's not worth my time or money.
  5. Ooooh! Waste my time filling out a marketing form so some corporate scumbags can find a better way to shove advertising down my throat, all for a DVD that I can pick up for free locally? And as a bonus, i'll get 50 extra emails a day that i'll have to delete instead of my usual 15? Sign me up!
  6. Pretty good idea. What would have been far better, though, would be to use a Nokia N-Gage for the phone parts, put the screen in the front where the Start and Select buttons are, and wire up the D-pad to act as the N-Gage's pad. Connect the fire buttons to the N-Gage's two main buttons, and then put the keypad on the back of the phone. Drop in an NES emulator, and off you go.
  7. Looks like they passed over the Dreamcast game Spawn - In The Demon's Hand. The last place i'll ever 'spawn' is in a demon's hand, thank you.

The trays on a lot of CD-i consoles aren't that reliable. Yours looks like the model I have. My tray still works, but the sound it makes when ejecting sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. I expect it to stop ejecting soon. You got two controllers and seven games with it? Nice one. It's kind of hard to find controllers with them when you find them in the wild, let alone the trash. What games did you get? (I know we're really going off-topic here, but i'm interested in this).

Awww, we didn't fall for his bullsh*t, so he's going to take his ball and go home...

No, he doesn't have a picture. Either that, or he's got a Photoshopped picture taken off another site. We've all been down this road before.

Sniff..... sniff..... Hmmm, I smell a scam.... Sorry to be pessimistic, but this is something that happens all the time. Someone pops up stating that they have a really rare cart, just to watch the ensuing chaos. It's typical troll behavior. Let me guess, your digital camera is broken, too.......
  12. I wonder if the actors from the show recorded voices for it. Sometimes they list these types of things in their resumes. Someone needs to track those down. Not me, I thought The Next Generation was painfully dull, and couldn't muster up any interest in it.
  13. I loved Shattered Universe, but make no mistake, it's hard. The difficulty levels aren't all that balanced between levels. You have a fairly easy level to complete, then you end up going against 4 Constellation class battecruisers and a slew of fighters. Then, when you've finally destroyed all the starships and fighters and you're about to end the level, an Orion capital ship warps in and makes the level that much harder. It's a nightmarishly hard level that's totally out of balance with most of the other levels. The other really hard level is when you have to stop the Planet Killer and the starships guiding it. One thing that kept me playing Shattered Universe was it's incredible immersive quality. The game plays like episodes of a long lost Star Trek spin-off starring George Takei's Captain Sulu and the Excelsior. And I happen to like three dimensional space shooters didn't hurt at all. The difficulty on some of the levels is pretty hard the first time you play them, though. Stick with it, and it's a rewarding game.
  14. I recently bought one at Fry's, because I needed to test out my Myriad 6-in-1 cart before I give it to my sister to auction on eBay. I don't have any working NES units, so a quick $30 for the NES Flashback sound like an easy way to go. Too bad it sucks. I tried it out with a few carts I had handy, and the only one that works is RoboWarrior. The other four carts I tried just give me jumbled graphics, before and after I cleaned the contacts. I'm trying to test this damn Myriad cart out, and I can't find a freakin' NES that works! Man, this is frustrating. If I have time tomorrow, i've got to take this piece of crap back to the store. Steve's quick capsule review: Piece of shit.
  15. Who knows, maybe a bug crawled inside the case and got electrocuted on the motherboard, causing the low humming sound?
  16. I picked up a Pink Floyd picture disc CD and an old LED handheld, Safari by Bambino, both for $2.92 each. It looks like the Safari handheld still has it's original '80s era batteries still inside, and they haven't corroded yet!
  17. WOW...... I never even knew there were that many variant 2600 titles scattered all over the world. Amazing work, tracking all of those down! Congratulations!
  18. There's something that I didn't pick up on the first time I read it, but it kicked in just now...... The Studio II had.... homebrews? Someone, looking at all the consoles that have come out throughout videogaming history, decided to make a new game for the RCA Studio II? It sounds like he was a glutton for punishment!
  19. The majority of NES carts aren't all that rare (resale price wise), i've found. Some of the highly desired games are really rare and therefore more valuable, like the games put out by Panesian (Hot Slots, Peekaboo Poker, Bubble Bath Babes) and unlicensed multi-carts like the Caltron 6-in-1 and the Myriad 6-in-1. Also the Nintendo World Championship 1990 carts. Those are about the only game carts (non-prototypes) I can think of that ever go for a lot of money at auction off the top of my head. But then, i'm not really an expert on NES games, and i'm really not an expert about eBay auctions. That Dizzy game is kind of rare, but it's resale value isn't all that high. According to DP's rarity guide, it's only worth $10 loose, even though it's a rarity 7. I think trying to find NES games that are worth a lot at auction is going to be difficult. There's only a small amount of games that bring in the really big bucks, and they're incredibly hard to find in the wild. Although I did recently find a Myriad 6-in-1 at my local flea market! So anything's possible.
  20. Dang, man, i'd love to have a Spectravideo SV-318 computer to play those on. But unfortunately, they never took off in the US. Rare as hen's teeth. Congrats on a really rare find!
  21. I know what you're talking about there. I've got games all over the place, it's to the point that I have no idea where they're all scattered. I was trying to track down all my Colecovision games the other day, and I could only find a handful of them. I've got so many storage tubs, I can't recall what's in each of them. One of these days, I need to pull all of them out and separate all my stuff by console. And i've got a lot of comic boxes I need to deal with too, but I only have around 16 short boxes. I'm not married though, so I don't have to listen to any complaints about it.
  22. 2600: Escape From The Mindmaster 7800: Midnight Mutants Lynx: Warbirds Jaguar: Battlemorph Intellivision: Mind Strike Genesis: Outlander Dreamcast: Star Wars: Demolition For all my other consoles, I either don't have enough games to decide, don't like enough of the games to comment, or just don't care enough to play any of them. For example, I bought a SMS years back, but i've never found anything of interest to play the console for more than 5 minutes.
  23. If it were me, my decision would depend on how many Neo Geo CD titles came out and their current cost, and what model of the console it is. The first generation of the Neo Geo CD was reported to be painfully slow to load games. Eventually, SNK made a version with a faster CD drive. You're going to want the faster loading console. Honestly, i'd easily trade a Sega Genesis/CD/32X for a Neo Geo CD. It's easy to find Sega Genesis hardware in the wild (well, maybe not the 32X), so it would be simple to replace the old console. But Neo Geo hardware is next to impossible to find in thrifts and flea markets.
