  1. I don't even bother trying anymore.
  2. Please forgive, as I'm too dang tired to go back and read all this, but did they improve the wireless controllers on the Ataris? I think I have a 5 or 6 and it's kind of frustrating. And paddles for Breakout, yay!
  3. Anyone know if they'll have those odd non-retro 'filler' games they had on the last one?
  4. Whatever it is, it sure looks cool.
  5. I'm kind of the polar opposite on Turbo collecting- I've gotta have those dang cardboard thingies (or sealed) or I'll pass. I go nuts on ebay because they're considered 'complete' without them when I look at it the other way. Arrrgh (a tired ARRRGH!). But yeah, my list would be the same. Those clamshells (including O2/ Intv cardboard ones) tend to be dang common. Plain old tear 'em open cardboard boxes got chucked. TRS-80 seems kinda tough with the little cardboard sleeves. Being a nitpicker, it weirds me out to see loose Genesis/ SMS games. Maybe they were rentals or game stores short on space...kinda sad to think of all those cool plastic boxes tossed away. Sniff.
  6. Be nice if they did some sub-based service for PCs, Switch, or something. Not into phones.
  7. It might be, or it might not be. Just because a concept is misused in the past doesn't mean it can't be factual under some other context. An important (in a negative way) fallacy going around is the idea that anyone who says that 'z was better when' is automatically wrong because people have said the same (and likely been wrong) before. I'm not saying you're saying this, just something I've heard floating around the internet. Again, it may be, or it may not be. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Specifically video games, though? Eh, largely taste I guess. With consoles, I like 8-16 bitters best.
  8. Interesting. Don't think I've seen that type box. So would this be one of the 80s mail order ones?
  9. "Nintendo, the Company That Hated Money" will return after these messages. I guess that 'this year' thing leaves a hole they can drive a delivery truck through. Like 100 copies of the New! NES Classic or some such. And then they cancel that.
  10. After Burner on the Master System (I think?). Heard back in the day that you could hide in the corner the first few levels and not get hit. But after that you were in for it...
  11. Some system's games had boxes that were made to store the game instead of just showing it off at retail. Seems like I see a lot of 02, Intv, Genesis, Master System boxes, but (relatively speaking) not as much GB, NES and such. Yeah, you could store the latter in the boxes, but they didn't have these convenient book-like cases.
  12. Semi-related but the only thing I can think of- there was a variant box (later issue?) that had the usual Odyssey 2 on the top, but plain cardboard all around the rest.
  13. Wasn't big into getting systems right when they came out back then. Maybe the first system I got on day one was the GBA, and it was like nothing. Come in at open, stand behind 3-4 others, and walk out no hassle.
  14. Anyone use to call in to Sega for those printed strategy guides? Those were great if you were lazy. Even in the early Genesis days they still did phone support if you were stuck on a game. Sega at the beginning of their US console efforts was like a friendly local shopkeeper. Miss that.
  15. I'm one of those guys who always buys Nintendo systems each generation. Kinda wish I had waited on the Wii U to drop in price, as I didn't end up doing much with it (and I want my Google Earth back!). But I was happy with my NES, 64, GC, DS, Gameboy and so on, so I guess one flub isn't too bad. Hopefully it'll work out. Really, if they just put their noses to the grindstone and provided more variety (or a full-access pass) on Virtual Console I'd be okay.
  16. Homebrewers must be running out of shells to use.
  17. Anyone in the KC area (or who can come out here) have use for some old broken stuff? 2 monitors (need to check the brands), some Commodore floppy drives and some (rather musty/etc ) parts of boxes (Amiga 500, 2 C64). Plus more ugly details. 10 clams (not payable in actual clams) if you have use for some strange and mysterious purpose. Yeah, not too exciting. But just in case...
  18. I could probably get in the regular edition for 'Collection Room in Most Disarray.'
  19. Not a complaint, but I'd love it if GOG brought in more 80s computer games than they now have, or if there was a 80s-only competitor. Guess there's not the kind of market for that as there is for 90s-2000s classics though.
