  1. Always get the extended warranty on new TVs. Every one I have owned has blown up. Our new Sony Bravia 65" 4k TV just died (barely 1 year old). Been a month without parts and now Best Buy says we will have to exchange it for something else...sigh. So what new TV should we get that will blow up the second the warranty expires?

What about the rest of your electronics, things like computers in case you have desktop models, as well as routers and other delicate equipment. Do they last year after year, or do you have to replace the router yearly too when it has expired? Those indeed are consumables though if you would have issues with several kinds of devices, perhaps have an electrician come to look over your power.

No issues with any other equipment in the house. Computers, DVD players, Blu-Rays, crap piles of video game systems, etc.

THIS is my current paper weight: https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/news-item.pl?mdl=XBR65X930D&news_id=526 Too bad they don't have the parts to do the repairs with.

  2. The Atari 7800 might be capable of playing almost the entire 2600 library but most of the carts released by companies other than Atari don't fit in the slot!
  3. I'm afraid I only have one XE system and I do not own a logic probe........
  4. I stand corrected sir. Guess I expected something to be posted on their home page or somewhere obvious. You have to click on the tiniest question mark to get to this page: https://www.emuparadise.me/emuparadise-changing.php Ah well. It was expected. I had hoped to get the rest of the 3DO games downloaded that I needed before they went belly up. 'Signals the soldiers to begin playing "military taps".
  5. Interesting article but as far as I can see, Emuparadise is still up and running just fine....
  6. Replaced the Mylar with a nice new one. Replaced both 4051's with the chips pictured in my previous post. Still experiencing the same issue as in the first post. Only the HELP button responds. The back of the circuit board (pictured) does have pins bridged (see above and below the Atari logo). Not sure if this matters. I tried to remove the bridge but it's proving almost impossible as the solder doesn't want to clean up off the board. They appear to have been bridged originally... Any other thoughts? Is it possible it's not the keyboard but something inside the XEGS? I thought about buying the TKII PS/2 Keyboard adapter so I can at least play games with the UNO cart, but this won't do any good if it's something internal that is "broken".
  7. I can make you a joystick but I'll be out of town until August 12th. If you don't mind waiting we can finish the deal upon my return. -Wolf
  8. One has to wonder if the sudden surge in price for BallBlazer is due to the demand for the hokey pokey? It certainly turned itself around...but then...that's what it's all about. Ok, that's enough for today.
  9. Not because it's my favorite, but the selection is limited at the store. However, it will do Also picked up an UNO cart for the Atari XE but alas, I'm unable to enjoy it until I figure out how to fix the keyboard.
  10. Ack. These can be a real pain. Hot water and soap. Then the remaining residue with goo gone. (be aware that some goof off solvents will MELT the plastic. The citrus one seems to be ok) Scrub, rinse, repeat until nice and clean.
  11. Picked up and installed a new keyboard membrane. Exact same symptoms as the first post. Only key that works is the "HELP" button. I have the following chips on the way. Hopefully they are a close enough match...
  12. I like this idea. I have the Space Cactus Canyon patch. It was cool getting a patch for reaching the high score that was set. Patches for home-brews is a cool idea. The Activision (and other games) patch idea is good as well. I think on the Activision patches I would prefer a completely new design versus a replica of the originals. This would completely avoid confusion plus it just seems right since they would be new....just my opinion.
  13. Now that is impressive. I can't fit into the pants I wore last year, let alone anything from that long ago. Probably help if I laid off the beer but still... You make the Brady Bunch seem like a small family...
  14. Decided to show the neglected 3DO some love. Fired up Killing Time. Taking me forever to find all the keys! Pretty nifty game.

Not sure I would take it that far, but I always enjoyed the fast-loading Wing Commander IV ... especially with the Thrustmaster joystick.

Star Control II on 3DO is good ... Ur Quan Masters preserves it for everyone else. Free!

I know about - and use - UQM 0.7.0 with the 3DO audio files... but SCII on the 3DO still is one of the best games I have ever played.

  15. Found this for the pinout of the XE keyboard (which doesn't seem to match the one posted above). I'm having trouble figuring which spots to "short" to see if the keyboard will respond. I did plug in the keyboard (removed the membrane first) and tried shorting various combinations of 2 pins on the J2 connector to no avail. If I decide to replace the 4051's would these work? eBay And how about these if I decide to stock up on a cheaper option? If there is enough room I'll solder in DIP sockets first, then install the new chips. After that I may purchase a new membrane regardless as mine does have a bit of corrosion and deterioration. If those two things don't work, well...pffft! Thanks.
  16. Are the Nintendo Switch games fully on the game cards? I'd like to think I could pull a game out and play without having to download content or connect to the internet in any way (like the vintage game carts)?

most do, some don't, doom doesn't have the multiplayer (but given you need online for multiplayer anyway), la noire, and the other 2k games don't have everything

  17. Too be honest I didn't really look it over closely at all. I focused entirely on the keyboard membrane. You appear to be correct. I'll fix the bridge but wonder if any parts will need to be replaced after. Guess first thing is first. Thank You!
  18. I have one in gray. For use with the original Atari Jaguar game console. This cable provides both an S-video and composite cable connection. When using be sure to plug in either S-video OR composite (yellow cable) for video, not both at the same time. Approximately 6' in length. The Atari connector allows for easy plugging and unplugging of the cable while looking stylish! Cost is $24.95 and includes first class shipping in the USA. Paypal accepted.
  19. Selling off my entire Atari 7800 collection. Below are two joysticks I made for the system. $77.95 each. Does not include shipping cost. "The Atari Pro CX-1000 is custom made with a genuine Japanese Seimitsu ball-top joystick. It has been upgraded to a red ball-top and red color shaft and dust washer to match on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre stick. Highly desired among Neo Geo fans: Shortest throw distance Shortest engage distance. Soft, sensitive spring like the Sanwa JLF. Small "deadzone" Suzo Happ concave push buttons with 50g microswitches provide smooth action and fast response. Cables are brand new and have a strain relief boot for durability. Lots of effort was put into the artwork. It is custom made and multi-layered." TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE SOLD HALLOWEEN SOLD
  20. Well, still not sure what to make of this issue. I could take a gamble and purchase a new membrane I guess. Found this on eBay and wondering if it will work. The membrane in my system has no part number listed. eBay item (too bad shipping cost is so high..heck of a deal otherwise) I see Best Electronics sells the membrane for $22 but I'm not sure if it would be better to get the newly manufactured one above. Also, still open to any thoughts on troubleshooting further....
