@ makary It's nice that you like using Patch 8 to write another song. But I didn't see a crew credit on your webside, showing that you used RMT 1.28 Patch 8 and who wrote this patch.

lots of unfinished, awesome projects .. but why?

OK, but then it's quite interesting to use ANTIC 4, clever DL and LMS, but also a font switch every 8 scanlines particularly, say font page 128 -> 132 -> 128 -> 132 -> ... -

It's not totally right... you can save 8 cycles per bad line using ANTIC 4 (then just 1 RAM refresh instead of 9) It's not totally right... you can save 3 or 1 cycles per bad line using ANTIC 5 (ANTIC display list commands, LMS or non-LMS) ... Etc. -

Yes, indeed, just to fresh my memory, ANTIC 5 (graphics 13) doesn't save CPU time w.r.t ANTIC 4. And indeed the ANTIC scan line buffer keeps the font numbers, but not the font graphics data. See here: -

Yes, I think using the charmode graphics 13 setting (ANTIC 5) is excellent. But emkay said that the bitmap mode is better ... just kidding. -

Looks great! By the way, if someone would like to enhance it, an 8-way scrolling is easy for the A8. -

I'm not sure yet. There's still a 'secret weapon'. -

And there's an international NS intercity (by train), starting from Amsterdam CS and you can get off the train in Bad Bentheim. -

Another meetings: (1) There are several ABBUC meetings in Keulen (Köln) area. (2) The ABBUC classic computing happens in Nordhorn. http://www.abbuc.de/news-feeds-component/events/icalrepeat.detail/2016/09/17/141/-/classic-computing-2016 See date 17.09.2016 and 18.09.2016. Nordhorn is only 5km from the border. Even public transport is easy: there's a direct bus connection between Oldenzaal (NL) and Nordhorn (DE). -

IIRC the ABBUC JHV meeting is in Herten (Deutschland), and it is close to the NL/DE border (Nijmegen / Arnhem). I'd like to go there soon. I'd like to combine it with a vacation. And it's especially for 8-bit Atari home computers! -

No, I threw it into the waste container and deleted the pictures. The print model was just designed by hand, so it wasn't optimized by far. But in fact ANTIC2 & GTIA2 also had its own memory with 64 kB. It didn't interfere with the main data line, but it was possible to copy the hue information into the second RAM. Then it was possible to show f.e. the following picture, but this time really without any flickering or interlace: Here you can find the original: http://demozoo.org/graphics/62176/ -

Now I'm living somewhere between Amsterdam and Utrecht. IIRC in 2003 and/or 2004 I visited 2 RETRO meetings. In Maarssen there was a general 8-bit retro meeting, and there I proposed my idea to make a connection of 8 SID cards and also showed my A8 with double GTIA + double ANTIC. At the time I thought the GTIA output was analogue, and a double GTIA was an "ANAlogue MUltipleXer" in theory. But doing some tests I realized that in fact it's only digital, to send colour pulses. The easiest combination was the colours from GTIA1 and the luminances GTIA2. Near the NS station "Dordrecht Zuid" there was a meeting especially for 8-bit and 16-bit ATARI machines. It was international. I remember Bob!k/CPU and krupkaj. -

Without emkay's comments and tryouts I never would do research scrolling MCS (i.e. with quad width PM underlays) and advanced undocumented PoKey features. And "why unfinished?": too much of important interrupts in REALITY. And when I was 20 my brains had no limits. Now I'm 35. I got three and a half years of medical treatments for my brain, doing a part time job, and I'm still too tired. -
Nice to listen to your new tune. But I'm not yet sure you like the usage and the possibilities of RMT Patch 8. If you have some questions about Patch 8, let me know.

How to temporarily silence pokey and then resume
analmux replied to erichenneke's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Just to correct myself: on the real machine the command POKE 53775,0 will stop the keyboard interrupt AND stop the SHIFT key and the keyboard input value itself. Altirra 2.60 acts differently. The START/SELECT/OPTION keys are still functioning. -

Well, you can still use GTIA mode for the START/SELECT/OPTION keys. Anyway, my method only disables the keyboard interrupt, but the key code input still works then. -
Thanks ... sounds logical

Great APP! What is this file "laoo.act" for?

analmux replied to erichenneke's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
It is easy to freeze PoKey temporarily. POKE 53775,0 will turn off all voices (keyboard included!) POKE 53775,3 to activate them again (together with keyboard function) See SKCTL: $d20f (53775) and SSKCTL: $0232 (562) -
Sorry, but the only 'AA-on-topic' part you mentioned is exactly "Atari 8bit got Pokey." Anyway, the digital world has a rather blurred image, for both parties (pros and cons / readers and writers), especially in the google/YouTube world. Just relax.

@ Matej This is totally off-topic here. Why do you trespass this AA forum? You just pick some of this busy forum space and push others to the side.

it is possible to make a game in atari basic?
analmux replied to Mamutisko's topic in Atari 5200 / 8-bit Programming
Indeed DIM can be used, but with turbobasic you can also use the very fast move commands. It executes data copies in memory with an ML table with command MOVE or -MOVE. If you combine it with PAUSE, then the effects can be very nice and fast. -
Anyway, nice to hear that you did a try with sawtooth waves. RMT 1.28 Patch 8 can help a bit: it has a special sawtooth table (36 notes).
