I'll believe that when I see it! I wouldn't hold my breath...

Same with MAME on the Legends Flashback system. Unless one hopes to see if the Colecovision and SNES cores can be put to work here via loading roms off a SD card, it's not going to be a worthwhile upgrade for previous owners if it's otherwise the same as last year's original (Which I do like, but no point in upgrading when I don't have a need for the Colecovision and SNES cores).
Interesting to see Top Gear 2 for the Super Nintendo on here, but a bit of a missed opportunity. It's a solid game and one of the better racers on the system, but it didn't capture the heart of a lot of those that played it like the original Top Gear did on the Super Nintendo.
It definitely matters. Why put an SD card slot on one version and not the next? I think it would sell way more if they did. I know I won't be buying one without it. As for ATGames it seems the communication is getting worse. I'm still disappointed they couldn't get new paddles to work for the FB9!

More precisely, I'm guessing the part under the disc that makes contact is "rubbery", so the harder we press, the more it "squishes", which allows it to make contact with more than one direction at the same time.
Am I right? (That question is rhetorical only. Because of your parents, I don't expect an answer. 😉 )
This is how you use the new Amico controller...

- To wait until Christmas to spend $500 in a PS5
- To buy an Amico on October 10th for $200
I'm really torn...
Perish the thought! George says there is only one clear winner...AMICO!

It was mentioned by someone that the hardware limits what version of Stella it can run. I hope they are proven wrong!

Not sure what you mean? Disagree about what? Working for a living?

Wait, what?! Are you saying this guy actually makes a living and supports himself giving his opinions on a YouTube channel?! Please tell me you are kidding Tommy? If I was his Dad, I'd be telling him to move out of the basement and get a REAL JOB!!! 😄

Sure, so did the other FB's, but do they perform well like the standard ones did on the original 2600?

Why does that even matter anymore? With the FB9 just load in what you want on the SD card. I'm betting they still don't have paddles working on this new FBX...

I'm way behind the curve of modern video game consoles, but I had to share that I played the jackbox party game pack on the XBox that a friend of ours had. We had 7 people playing at the same time using our smartphones as controllers and it was awesome! Because of this, I am hoping the Amico will integrate something like this in it's game list for the 2020 launch. Tommy, have you considered utilizing these kind of word and picture type party games?

These folks are unlikely to jump thru the hoops needed to get an old console working on a new screen, or get into acquiring old cartridges. Flashback is easy and ready to roll.
Related: why do people buy popnfresh dough when they could just bake bread from scratch?
I own an Atari and need a FB so I can play it on an HDTV. I can't stand the snowy/grainy screen look when I hook it up so I keep it on my old tube TV. The clear crisp picture I get with a FB makes for a better gaming experience, especially with multiple players.

On 9/26/2019 at 10:55 PM, Flojomojo said:You might like the Retron 77, particularly if you put Stella on it.
The biggest problem with the Retron 77 from what I have heard is the joysticks they made are worthless as they brake after just a few hours of play. There still is no way of using paddles unless you know how to hack them to work. The cartridge port is unreliable and inconsistent. That's just too many negatives even if you can load Stella on it. It's a shame Hyperkin didn't support the product after they put it out.
I'm glad I went with the FB9 as the wireless joysticks are just as good as the FB8 and you can also use the classic corded joysticks that you use with the original 2600. That's more of a win-win to me. The fact that you can play this on an HDTV through HDMI and add more games via SD card slot makes this better than the FB2. The game compatibility is better on the FB9 than the FB2.

Yes. Terribly misunderstood I believe.
The question I was answering was specifically about how many of our games are going to be 8 player capable.
Of course they will all have single player as well. But my answer was in regards to how many of our games are 8 player. I didn't feel the need to address single player as it wasn't asked and only so many character in Twitter, etc.
Well then that changes everything! For that reason...

I was under the impression that Tommy said you would be able to play games as 1 player AND multi-player (2-8 players). If all the games are not going to have the option for one player in the case that nobody else is around to play...
Even the Wii had an option for 1 player only. I hope this is fake news or something has been terribly misunderstood!

Agree. I just wonder how they would do a multiplayer dungeon crawl if two people move in opposite directions off either side of the screen. How would it split up the action? I can't seem to picture that one...

No need to remind or tell us... WE KNOW!!
And one thing you can count on in the new version... I'm TOTALLY mixing in the original "THUUUUMP!" tripping sound!
I've been using a lot of the original sounds and mixing them in to others to update them but still giving the original vibe. Skiing, Night Stalker, Moon Patrol, Shark! Shark!, etc. All utilize some original stuff.
Now THAT is friggin' cool! The quick game shots on the latest video were not enough to push me over the top, but this is a good sign of things to come. Well done sir! 😁

And as for Hockey, I'm still smarting from Paul beating me 1-0 on a PP goal last time I was down there to visit him. I look forward to gaining my revenge on the new system. 😎😂
Cmart, make sure you make the push to Paul and or Tommy on the Intellivisionaries Podcast to get those corner boards in the new Amico hockey game curved instead of the mistake they made in Slap Shot Super Pro Hockey. Thanks!

Tommy,
Can we get any more info on the list of Intellivision games that will be reimagined besides the ones announced in the press release? More specifically I am hoping these will be added and was wondering if you could confirm:
Beamrider
Bump N Jump
Commando
NFL Football
NHL Hockey
Space Battle
Space Spartans
Treasure of Tarmin

I think QR codes are slowly becoming obsolete. I would be surprised if IE went that route.

This is one of the may reasons I'm glad Intellivision is coming out with the Amico! Back in the day when Atari-Intellivision-Colecovision ruled the video game scene, Nintendo came along and passed them all as each one fizzled out. I tried the NES and didn't have as much fun as I did the other three. When the SNES came along, the same thing happened except I preferred Sega Genesis. Today I have regrets not giving the Wii a chance as I liked it when played at a relatives house. Now with the release of the Amico on the horizon, it has the opportunity to be what the Wii could have been had they continued. I'm just excited for this new system to bring back the fun I once had with those pre-crash systems!
