Atari Flashback Portable!
atarifan88 replied to Byron's Reviews's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I haven't had any screen issues (unlike one particular person on here who keeps shoving CRT garbage down everyone's throat). I charged my portable for the 11 hours the manual called for regardless of the green light being on early. I don't know if that has anything to do with your issue or not but you might want to try before you decide to return it. -

That's your opinion not fact. To each their own... -

No need to come on here and be hateful. I realize there are other methods of hooking up a game system to a CRT. Just using the RF as an example since the difference in picture clarity is worth going to more modern technology. Lighten up! -

Nailed it right there. I'll take a clear crisp display on a LCD TV using an emulator on a PC or Raspberry Pi with original controllers then go back to playing on a little CRT with RF interference all over the screen! That's not even debatable... -

The manual suggests to charge the unit for 11 hrs the first time, then 4 hrs every time after that. -

Sorry, I thought you had said the wireless ones were being scrapped. My bad. -

According to Bill, they are doing away with those awful wireless joysticks and going back to the wired ones thankfully! -

Or you could put all the Activision ROMs on an SD card and use it in the current version. Why wait? -

I have not noticed this issue with mine, and I have used the up direction often. -

So far no. That may be the issue. Try a regular SD card. -
Where is the Intellivision Flashback Portable?
atarifan88 replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Agree. Also, with any computer, you can hook it up to a TV and play it on the big screen! -
This worked. In fact all you have to do is make sure you have a backup copy on a flash drive, create a new game folder in the SD card, the select the last game first then the first game last while holding the shift key. Then just copy them over and it puts them in the order it copy's them (alphabetically). By the way, I found out you can put spaces in the filename as long as the first letter in the filename is capitalized and the rest are lowercase. The screen displays 17 characters including the extension if the filename is short enough. So having a game like Lord of the rings.bin will display LORD OF THE RINGS which suits me just fine!

I have a small collection of 50 games on my SD card. I only put the ones I truly love to play that work on the portable. No sense in having to scroll through a long list of games you don't like or play! I grabbed the Screen Gopher utility and will give that a shot this weekend. It has a GUI so hopefully it will be easy to use.

Thanks! I do not see a link for the tool "folder sort." Unless someone has the utility to share here, I'll try to do something else. Actually, I think all I have to do is delete the Zaxxon rom, plug the SD card back into the portable so it sees it's not there anymore. Then I'll put the rom back into the Game folder on the card and plug it back into the portable and hopefully it will get put at the end of the list. On a separate note, I was reading about assigning images to roms on the SD card so they come up on the screen. Has anyone tried using Screen Gopher or MDB Edit to do this for the Atari? Wondering if it will work. I may try this and see...

One thing I noticed on my Rom list that's displayed on the portable, I deleted my old folder with all the roms, then started fresh making a new Game folder and copied all the roms to it. When the list comes up, everything is in alphabetical order except it puts Zaxxon first. Does anyone have a similar issue?
