Just downloaded the rom - looks good on the Ultimate FB. Very challenging - I'm behind 14-0 after the first inning! I'm gonna have to warm up with some World Championship Baseball first and improve my skills...

Todd, where is the rom available at? Could you please post a link? Thanks!

Edit: Never mind I found it. Would help if I read the previous posts! :)

  2. Ah, that's more like it. You forgot to mention you need to create a new temporary view before you can sort it. Someone should make that the default. Anyway, it's really nice to see this come together like it has. I wish the sega portables had such a list.

I don't know what you mean about creating a "temporary view", but I just opened it and went to the arrow to sort and it regenerated it in alphabetical order. Took three mouse clicks and done.

  3. What would be nice is if they were all in alphabetical order. Right now it's part random, part alphabetical.

All you have to do is click on "Title" in the spreadsheet and then click on the arrow to the right of it and select "Sort A-Z" and you are all set. I have been exporting PDF's so I can sort through my ROMS, renaming the ones that work and removing the ones that don't so I am all set with my card by the time I get my portable. Then it will be load and go! :)

  4.

    Hey guys,

In my ongoing effort to play my favorite old video games with original controllers on my modern living room TV, instead of being banished to the CRT in my cold, dark basement, I've come up with the Ultimate Atari FB! Here's the software in action:
Why trash a perfectly good Flashback?
    • Crisp full-screen HDMI output.
    • The ability to add any 2600 game.
    • Upgraded menu selection screen with woodgrain goodness!
    • The FB's make great Raspberry Pi cases!
    What you'll need:
    • Any Atari FB with front facing ports (FB's 3-7)
    • Raspberry Pi 3
    • Two 2600-daptor II's sans cases
    • Two USB A-B cables, on 6" and the other 12"
    • Four 4-40 by 3/4" machine screws
    • Wires and soldering skills
    • Custom RetroPie software (see link below)
With the custom software, the console buttons all work, and holding down Select and Start (Reset) will get you back to the game menu. See the attached manual below.
Console Button Wiring (Starting closest to power button):
    1. 5V Power at GPIO 2
    2. Ground at GPIO 6 (or any other GPIO ground)
    3. GPIO 20
    4. GPIO 22
    5. GPIO 26
    6. GPIO 21
    Suggestions:
    • Remove the capacitor on the console PCB and solder in a jumper wire or you won't have enough power to the Pi.
    • I suggest pairing a Bluetooth keyboard with the Pi or running a USB extension cable out the back. You'll need this for adding box art, editing file names, transferring roms via USB, etc.
    Software Manual (thanks to timdu!):
    Micro-SD Card Image:
    • Contains several great homebrews that have been publicly released in rom form!
    Credits:
Thanks to fdr4pres, Tom Hafner, pimpmaul69, timdu, and intvdave for all the help!

I remember you mentioned you were having difficulty getting Stella to go full screen on the Raspberry Pi. How did you end up getting this fixed?

  5. Anyone know of any Black Friday deals yet? I see that the FB7 will be $30 at Toys r Us, but no sign of the portable in any ads.

That's probably because the portable will not be out until after Black Friday. November 29th to be exact. Your best bet is to obtain a 20% off coupon from Bed, Bath & Beyond. If they are selling them for $50, you will get it for $40 with the coupon. That's not a bad deal...

  6. Be careful about ordering from Atgames. I have placed orders from them before with a message telling me it shipped and it never really shipped. It wasn't until weeks later I found out it was on back order because I contacted them to ask the status. Their customer service is horrible due to the fact that they do not communicate well with their customers and it takes a miracle to get in touch with someone over there. I hope it works out better for you than it did for me!

  7. Yes there is, but you need a menu button to access it. Older android phones had a dedicated menu button. Newer android phones got rid of it. Most apps have been updated to not use the menu button. Maybe there is a way with your phone to activate the menu button, otherwise you have to wait until jzintv4droid is updated for newer androids.

    Edit:

Depending on your phone, the menu button might be represented by three dots on screen. Did you try long pressing the apps/window button like Lathe26 suggested?

Lathe26's suggestion worked. Of course I needed to have JZINTV open first. Now I know how to access the keyboard to play Super NFL football on my phone as well! Thanks for your patience and help!

  8. Press and hold your phone's "Switch Apps" (near your Back button and Home button). Select Options and then Vibration.

Ok, this got it to work! First I started up JZINTV then held down the "switch apps" button and up came the JZINTV options to which I turned off the vibration for everything in that app. Thanks Lathe26 you helped save my sanity because I knew I changed it on my older phone. Now I can play some intellivision on a bigger screen (in peace)! Thanks again for your patience and help!

  9. Does your phone have a menu button? In jzintv4droid game screen (not the file selection screen) press the phone's menu button; select options; select vibration.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core and it only has a "back" button, a "home" button, and a "window" button for selecting previously used apps. Like I said earlier, this is the only app that utilizes vibration as there is no other way to turn off vibration except for incoming calls. I tried that just to see what would happen and jzintv still vibrates with every key press I make. Isn't there an options within jzintv to switch this off?

  10. You can go into Options menu -> Vibration and change the settings there.

I have the same issue on my phone but do not see options to turn off vibration. Is this within the jzintv emulator? No other app does this on my phone.

EDIT: Checked the app info and it controls the vibration of the phone. My phone only has an option to turn off vibration during calls. So is there a options menu within jzintv for android and how do you get to it?

My review for the Sega Classic Console is posted here: http://armchairarcade.com/perspectives/2016/10/02/review-sega-genesis-classic-game-console-atgames-2016-version-includes-videos/

I expect to post the review for the Sega portable by the end of the week.

Nice review Bill on the Atari Flashback 7. I don't know if it's been announced, and maybe I am trying too hard to read between the lines here:

On a related note, since this is also expected to be the last such version to work with legacy composite AV connections, if this is the type of product you like to use with a CRT television for additional authenticity, this is the version to get.

If the Atari Flashback 7 is the last version to have AV composite connections, then does that mean the Atari Flashback 8 will have HDMI capability to better the video output for today's TV's?

  12. I really should only listen to gaming podcasts when I am home and all my systems are set up. :(

Tell me about it. I'm at work when I hear this stuff and all I can think about is getting home to play a few games! To the point of my original post, I have never really played an Atari 5200. It sounds like the joysticks are a pain and even trying to get better ones sounds like a quest and a half which is why I am not entertaining the idea of buying another system even though I see games for sale often. I think I'll stick to emulation for this one so I can enjoy the huge upgrade the graphics and gameplay have over the 2600.
