INTVDAVE: I've always said I would like to see Slap Shot Super Pro Hockey changed where the corners are rounded off just like the NHL Hockey version and make the puck react as it normally would when getting shot into the corner, instead of coming right back at you like you hit it against a flat wall. While you are at it, I don't know if you could tweak the AI because the game is VERY high scoring! Another thing you could put in is a zamboni cleaning the ice between periods. Now that would be cool!

This. Loving the hacked roms that have been showing up of late!
Rick, thanks for all your input on the Intellivisionaries episode for Thunder Castle. That's one of the reasons I stuck with Thunder Castle. I knew there was fun game in there somewhere!

But having played Mystic Castle now, I don't think I'll want to go back to Thunder Castle anytime soon! I think your enthusiasm for the game has worn on me as of late. This thing is so addicting, it's getting almost impossible to put down! Or at least until the episode for Space Spartans comes out...

-
I am still debating on releasing Super Pro Baseball. Feedback I received was that that I made the game to hard. If I make it much easier, I will not enjoy it.
Sorry but I will not be doing any more CIB games. I understand only few of you enjoy the ROMs.
If tweaking it will make you enjoy the game less then don't do it! As far as not releasing any more CIB games, that's just fine with me as this Ultimate Intellivision is the way to go for the future, I think! Keep those ROMs coming and keep up the good work on tweaking some of the more difficult Intellivision games to make them more enjoyable for us!

I finally bought this after re-listening to the Thunder Castle episode by the Intellivisionaries. Thunder Castle is a game I wanted to love, but it's way too difficult from the start. So I opted to buy Mystic Castle at everyone's recommendation. All I can say is you are all correct! This version is way more fun to play. I zipped through the first two levels and really enjoyed the sped up play! I plan on adding this to my Ultimate Intellivision. By the way, does anyone have a Mystic Castle box art I could use to put in my Ultimate Intellivision menu?
EDIT: Does anyone know the order of skill level (easy to difficult?) for Squire (1), Apprentice (2), Archer (3), Knight (4)? Or is that the correct order?
-
The title alone implies adventure and mystery and would probably rouse curiosity from all Intellivision user's alike!

-
The version on the Flashback is more like the arcade. Isn't that what we would have expected with the 2600 back in the day? That being said, it's definitely an improvement!

I'm thinking it's an April Fools prank based on the fact that he listed 2 sets of Flashback overlays! I'm remembering a thread that was considerably long due to the fact that he didn't receive his overlay sets from Intellivision Productions...

With the fan taking up one controller spot, where does the second controller go?

And then there's THIS! Of course you take a flashback shell and stick a Pi in it with an emulator. I have one and I love it even more than a real Intellivision! You can add all the ROMs you want and the flashback controllers are much better on your hands.

I remember a hacked ROM of this that had the 1st level changed so the time you had to slay the dragon was much longer. However levels 2 & 3 were the same as the original game. Can anyone confirm if the "slay time" has been increased for all three levels on this new version?

I see. First you get Intellivision items in the Atari Age store, then you rename the domain name. All part of the master plan...bwah ha ha!

-
You do realize this is the Atari Age Forum?! All kidding aside, I am as much an Intellivision fan as I am Atari.A ban on sales to anyone with atari in their name will come into effect soon.

And that's funny you missed my sarcasm!Thats funny that you interpreted it that way, my comment had nothing to to with him or his website AtariRevolution...

Right around the time you update your profile name to something more in line with the game console the games will run on...

I think you need to give Rev a little more credit than that. He's on it!

No. But ill add a place to download them for free.
Ok great! When can we expect that to happen?

I was tasked with refurbishing a Matell Intellivision. No problem, I do other game machines all the time.
So I found out it doesn't work. Okay. Bought one that did off Ebay.
Plugged the Ebay unit in, the RF signal is dodgy due to a crappy RF plug, but no problem, it comes in just fine after jiggling. .
So I re-capped the power supply and the motherboard. Then I added an A/V mod board from a trusted source in Turkey. I've used his boards before on other machines like the 2600.
Turn the machine on, the screen goes black. Nothing. Tried different carts, same thing.
I checked my connection points, all my solder joints and the polarity of the replacement capacitors. Everything is just fine.
Still nothing but a black screen. WTH? I mean, other than replacing the voltage regulators, I got nothing. The damn thing worked before I re-capped and installed the A/V module. Neither is a machine-crippling change.
Can someone please help me shed some light on this? It's very frustrating. I have two spare units that are certified not to work, as sources for spare parts. Is there something that could have gone bad while I was doing my upgrades?
Regards,
Cent13
If all else fails, buy yourself an Intellivision Flashback and send it to Byte Knight on this form and for $149, he can turn it into an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback with the option to add every single Intellivision ROM ever made (that you purchase from Intellivision Productions via Intellivision Lives & Intellivision Rocks)! You will get crisp HDMI output which is better than any mod you can do to your Intellivision.
-
Will you be adding an option to purchase ROMs?
-
Unfortunately, there is talk that some producers have gone "rogue" and will be opening the floodgates for new releases. This will be seriously investigated and seriously dealt with in the same serious manner that the serious "Intellivision Brotherhood" deals with all serious issues.

I say release the games at will. If this is only a hack of the original game, why wait?
On another note, has anyone bought the Mystic Castle ROM and can give us a review of how it truly varies from Thunder Castle (i.e. is the game play easier, is it a game you would enjoy playing over and over?)

Does Select Game have a working RSS feed? I just see no attachments in the RSS as if it's just a series of blog posts with no media.
Here you go Rick! This comes up in my RSS feed as a post but takes you to the podcast to download.

Just an FYI, the new batch of AtGames products will come out in the Fall. That's still a ways off, of course, but something to keep in mind before going to extraordinary measures in the mean-time for any of the existing stuff.
The stand alone paddles go for $25 including shipping, but they never seem to be in stock. Best electronics was selling upgraded paddles for about $35 including shipping. Since I don't own a flashback at this time, I think getting a brand new deluxe edition for $35 including shipping (regular $50 at Sam's Club). I think it's a good buy. About the new stuff coming out in the fall, unless AtGames does one of the following to revise the Atari Flashback:
1. Include some of the bigger arcade titles, assuming they can come to a licensing agreement
2. Add HDMI output
3. Add an SD card slot
I won't be interested in buying it. I would say from what we have seen so far, odds are none of those things will happen, but we will see...
-
That is the only difference between the regular and deluxe. You can purchase paddles separately and they will work, but good luck getting them to send you some! I've tried two different times and both times they were on back order. Looks like I'm going to just have to spring for a flashback 6 deluxe. I want to use the paddles on my original Atari 2600 as my old paddles are very jittery and I'm tired of having to clean them all the time!

For those of you who have never heard of the "Ultimate Flashbacks", it's where you take a flashback system you buy in the store or online and gut it out completely. Then you take a Raspberry Pi, load the emulator of your favorite video game system(s) and ROMs onto an SD card, hook up a USB controller adapter, and mount it all in the gutted shell of a flashback. I have an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback and I LOVE IT! I was wondering if anyone on here has taken an Atari Flashback shell and done the same thing? I've heard there are problems getting Stella to go full screen on the emulator for the Raspberry Pi. Has anyone had this problem as well and found a way around it? I myself have not tried, so I was just looking to see what others have tried as I'm interested in doing this myself.

The "Rick swears like a sailor" variant episode is VERY rare...
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Sounds like an idea for an upcoming mini-episode. Maybe to give it an Intellivision "feel" you could call it "Rick swears like a Solar Sailer!" Now if you could just figure out a way to run Rick's voice thru an Intellivoice module...

Well, I got a response back from Keith himself and here is what he had to say:
Thank you for your note. We test mailed a couple of hand controllers in the bubble envelopes and they arrived OK; with orders over two controllers we individually bubble wrap each one. But we will begin wrapping all of the controllers individually to be on the safe side.
Thanks for raising this concern.
Keith Robinson, President
Intellivision Productions, Ic.
It sounds like they will keep using the bubble envelopes but add bubble wrap around each controller.

Atari Best Electronics is no longer selling refurbished consoles

I ended up buying an Atari Flashback that had new paddles with it, so problem solved!
