  1. Rick, thanks for all your input on the Intellivisionaries episode for Thunder Castle. That's one of the reasons I stuck with Thunder Castle. I knew there was fun game in there somewhere! But having played Mystic Castle now, I don't think I'll want to go back to Thunder Castle anytime soon! I think your enthusiasm for the game has worn on me as of late. This thing is so addicting, it's getting almost impossible to put down! Or at least until the episode for Space Spartans comes out...
  2. If tweaking it will make you enjoy the game less then don't do it! As far as not releasing any more CIB games, that's just fine with me as this Ultimate Intellivision is the way to go for the future, I think! Keep those ROMs coming and keep up the good work on tweaking some of the more difficult Intellivision games to make them more enjoyable for us!
  3. I finally bought this after re-listening to the Thunder Castle episode by the Intellivisionaries. Thunder Castle is a game I wanted to love, but it's way too difficult from the start. So I opted to buy Mystic Castle at everyone's recommendation. All I can say is you are all correct! This version is way more fun to play. I zipped through the first two levels and really enjoyed the sped up play! I plan on adding this to my Ultimate Intellivision. By the way, does anyone have a Mystic Castle box art I could use to put in my Ultimate Intellivision menu? EDIT: Does anyone know the order of skill level (easy to difficult?) for Squire (1), Apprentice (2), Archer (3), Knight (4)? Or is that the correct order?
  4. The title alone implies adventure and mystery and would probably rouse curiosity from all Intellivision user's alike!
  5. The version on the Flashback is more like the arcade. Isn't that what we would have expected with the 2600 back in the day? That being said, it's definitely an improvement!
  6. I'm thinking it's an April Fools prank based on the fact that he listed 2 sets of Flashback overlays! I'm remembering a thread that was considerably long due to the fact that he didn't receive his overlay sets from Intellivision Productions...
  7. With the fan taking up one controller spot, where does the second controller go? Sent from my LGL34C using Tapatalk
  8. And then there's THIS! Of course you take a flashback shell and stick a Pi in it with an emulator. I have one and I love it even more than a real Intellivision! You can add all the ROMs you want and the flashback controllers are much better on your hands.
  9. I remember a hacked ROM of this that had the 1st level changed so the time you had to slay the dragon was much longer. However levels 2 & 3 were the same as the original game. Can anyone confirm if the "slay time" has been increased for all three levels on this new version?
  10. I see. First you get Intellivision items in the Atari Age store, then you rename the domain name. All part of the master plan...bwah ha ha!
  11. You do realize this is the Atari Age Forum?! All kidding aside, I am as much an Intellivision fan as I am Atari. Sent from my LGL34C using Tapatalk
  12. And that's funny you missed my sarcasm![emoji1] Sent from my LGL34C using Tapatalk
  13. I think you need to give Rev a little more credit than that. He's on it!
  14. If all else fails, buy yourself an Intellivision Flashback and send it to Byte Knight on this form and for $149, he can turn it into an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback with the option to add every single Intellivision ROM ever made (that you purchase from Intellivision Productions via Intellivision Lives & Intellivision Rocks)! You will get crisp HDMI output which is better than any mod you can do to your Intellivision.
  15. Will you be adding an option to purchase ROMs?
  16. I say release the games at will. If this is only a hack of the original game, why wait? On another note, has anyone bought the Mystic Castle ROM and can give us a review of how it truly varies from Thunder Castle (i.e. is the game play easier, is it a game you would enjoy playing over and over?)
  17. Here you go Rick! This comes up in my RSS feed as a post but takes you to the podcast to download.
  18. The stand alone paddles go for $25 including shipping, but they never seem to be in stock. Best electronics was selling upgraded paddles for about $35 including shipping. Since I don't own a flashback at this time, I think getting a brand new deluxe edition for $35 including shipping (regular $50 at Sam's Club). I think it's a good buy. About the new stuff coming out in the fall, unless AtGames does one of the following to revise the Atari Flashback: 1. Include some of the bigger arcade titles, assuming they can come to a licensing agreement 2. Add HDMI output 3. Add an SD card slot I won't be interested in buying it. I would say from what we have seen so far, odds are none of those things will happen, but we will see...
  19. That is the only difference between the regular and deluxe. You can purchase paddles separately and they will work, but good luck getting them to send you some! I've tried two different times and both times they were on back order. Looks like I'm going to just have to spring for a flashback 6 deluxe. I want to use the paddles on my original Atari 2600 as my old paddles are very jittery and I'm tired of having to clean them all the time!
  20. For those of you who have never heard of the "Ultimate Flashbacks", it's where you take a flashback system you buy in the store or online and gut it out completely. Then you take a Raspberry Pi, load the emulator of your favorite video game system(s) and ROMs onto an SD card, hook up a USB controller adapter, and mount it all in the gutted shell of a flashback. I have an Ultimate Intellivision Flashback and I LOVE IT! I was wondering if anyone on here has taken an Atari Flashback shell and done the same thing? I've heard there are problems getting Stella to go full screen on the emulator for the Raspberry Pi. Has anyone had this problem as well and found a way around it? I myself have not tried, so I was just looking to see what others have tried as I'm interested in doing this myself.
  21. Sounds like an idea for an upcoming mini-episode. Maybe to give it an Intellivision "feel" you could call it "Rick swears like a Solar Sailer!" Now if you could just figure out a way to run Rick's voice thru an Intellivoice module...
  22. Well, I got a response back from Keith himself and here is what he had to say: It sounds like they will keep using the bubble envelopes but add bubble wrap around each controller.
  23. Thanks Paul. I was going to send them an email as well. It would probably be good to do both.
  24. Firstly, I don't care if it's a $9 or a $100 piece of plastic. If I'm taking the time and money to order something, I want it delivered in one piece! Since when is a simple box considered "industrial grade." You make it sound like I'm asking them to ship it in a steel box. Secondly, you would think a company like Intellivision Productions WOULD offer different shipping options for those who care that their products make it to them free from defects. For those that don't care, they can choose to have their stuff carelessly thrown together with the higher risk that it might get damaged during transit. I don't think it's too much to ask to have different shipping options. Most companies have them. If you are of the type that don't care if your items arrive damaged, then that's your right. By coming on here and telling everyone who ordered that they are "particular" just because they wanted it shipped in a box with bubble wrap instead loose in a bag, it's their right as well. That's all I'm saying. Pointing out the obvious does nothing but make it look like you are criticizing people for their choices. I'm not sure if that was your intent. It's difficult to gauge one's intent by reading posts on a forum.
