Hi, just started working with the lynx and I am going through the tutorials at https://atarilynxdeveloper.wordpress.com/(LX.NET I believe) . Awesome set of tutorials, I already have a spaceship with some stars zooming past on the screen. Plus plenty of head scratching on how I can get my program to work on my flash card, another thread for another day maybe. I am trying to work out various pieces of a small "game" and I am currently stuck at sound. I noticed in the lynx.h header file that there are functions available for sound support, but I haven't been able to find much about them other than they exist. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to point me to an example (did a quick search on the forum and didn't spot anything myself...), or maybe build an example for me. Here is my process so far. I used Chipper 2.0 to make a quick tune and exported it with the /For BLL Driver>Export CC65 "remake"> option (I realize this may be my problem because it is under the "for BLL Driver category" and that the resulting .asm file is not formatted to work with cc65 library out of the box. Would like to verify this.) I then modify the labels int he .asm file for the name of the file, adding underscores to make them accessible to me in my C code. (Another clue that I am doing this completely wrong. You can tell I am new at this right? ). I then assemble the .asm file with ca665 and link it with the rest of my object files. In my C code I initialize the sound with lynx_snd_init(); I attempt to play the sound with lynx_snd_play ( Channel0 , &music); I included some defines at the top of my C file for the channels (Again, this doesn't feel like the appropriate way of doing this). I got these defines from another thread #define Channel0 (char *)0xfd20 #define Channel1 (char *)0xfd28 #define Channel2 (char *)0xfd30 #define Channel3 (char *)0xfd38 I included my source files. I am currently working in Linux environment. Thanks again for any help you can give a fledgling Lynx developer. 2-14-16_AA_sound_help.zip

WOW! James "Purple" Hampton autograph is for sale
BitJag replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Atari Jaguar
Hampton was producer on Trevor McFur in the Crescent. I guess I should feel proud that I knew this off hand, but strangely I don't... https://atariage.com/manual_page.php?SystemID=JAGUAR&SoftwareLabelID=1125&ItemTypeID=¤tPage=12&maxPages=16 -
I have no affiliation with them, but Console 5 and Songbird Productions might be interested. Besides games, Console 5 also sells parts and other miscellaneous stuff for sale. I know some of the Jag guys have used Console 5 to resell games.

Please put me on list.

Sorry everyone... I just reserved #65 - #512. But don't worry, I will get them up on ebay as soon as I can... With an additional finders fee of course

YES!!!!! Xenon II ! Thank you Bitmap Brothers and CyranoJ! It is mind boggling that this is actually happening. I noticed The Stare Quake link leads to the Super Sprint thread. Also, it seems like "Return to Genesis" had a rough port at some point...

Just flashed to the skunk. Plays great, sounds great. Thanks for your awesome efforts CyranoJ! I may have found a small glitch though. If I let the title loop through the score board, credits, back to the title screen, and then start a new game, the screen goes blank with music still running. The game doesn't start. I re flashed a few times with the same results.

NEW Jaguar Cartridge available NOW! Including Ltd Edition
BitJag replied to Gaztee's topic in Atari Jaguar
Just sent an email to snatch one of those. Nice work on the packaging! -
Oh boy.... Most likely not the place for reservations, but put me down for 2 as well (clear & solid). Love this stuff, and my money will always be there for legitimate development and sales. The .ROM solution is an awesome compromise, and I can't wait to see what other ST classics are going to get the big cat treatment.

Awesome! Just dumped it to my skunk. Love the music, and the slight parallax effect on the nearest pillars. Overall it has a great sense of polish.

Thanks for this game! Simple but a ton of fun. Great job on the packaging as well.

I had a regular and pro controller start to go out on me. Meaning some of the buttons would work, and some wouldn't. I tested the controllers using Matthias Domin's Joypad-testing program (you can do this as well if you have BJL, Skunkboard or a Jaguar CD unit). This verified the controller was still communicating but that some buttons would activate other buttons, multiple buttons, or no button(s) at all. Knowing this, I took the faulty controllers to someone who knew how to test the circuit boards for a living to see if there were any issues electronically. He determined that the one of the chips (octal gateway, i think...) was the issue. He says this is a common problem with some older consoles. It happens when the controller is plugged into the console after the console has been turned on. Something gets shorted out I guess, can't remember exactly what he said. Basically don't plug in anything after the console has been turned on was what I got from his explanation. I ordered replacement parts (a couple chips, here is an image of the pro controller, and one for the regular controller), had him solder the new parts into the controller, and now both controllers are working again. I am not saying this is the problem with your controllers, but definitely worth looking into if you happen to know a technician who can check for flaws on circuit boards. Could be a little pricey if you can't call in any favors. The technician's time, plus parts ended up around $100 dollars, but still worth it considering how much pro controllers are going for these days...

We have had a few chances to play with it, and we are thinking about basing a new project on it. We would be stupid not to, considering help is so readily available. Awesome demo you guys put together for Outline this year with Raptor, it's got me excited to start working with Raptor.

Took a bit longer than we said, sorry about that. Here is a sneak peak of what we have so far. Let us know what you think.

Woops... Thanks for clarifying that Madman.

I bought and used two of these for my Jag's to hook up to some older 4:3 lcd I had around. http://www.amazon.com/Composite-S-Video-Converter-Screen-Version/dp/B003NUN7DG In case the HDMI isn't required, could be an acceptable alternative. The first one I bought about two years ago, the reds would bleed horrendously. Bought another one for a second Jaguar about a month ago to see if they may have gotten better over time, and they have. Still not a great picture, but the bleeding reds are significantly reduced now, and it looks better than the miniAV2HDMI. Not too expensive either. Do you mean it doesn't work well, or doesn't work at all? In case you need proof of it working here is a pic. If you are just looking to play some games, it does the job, but not great if you are looking for a "clean" upscale.

Also, when it up converts the signal it does an unusual amount of cropping to the image. (Used this same box on my Jag last night). Most games should still be fine, with only a bit of chopping here and there. But there is no way you getting a good video signal out of it, not like a CRT anyways.

Thought that was going to be harder than it was. The site is back up http://bitjag.com/.

We are still planning on getting a video up soon. I had some troubles getting my capture device working up until about 12 last night. I did get some game footage captured though, so today will be editing.
-
That's awesome! Are there screens of that floating around the internets?

We apologize about the website. We switched hosting, and we haven't had time to get it back up yet. We are planning on getting it back up this weekend. As for Flappy McFur. Revised gameplay is done, with scoring system in place. Has been for a while. Slowly working through some extra assets which will be adding a simple set of achievements with some good references to Trevor MFur and the Crescent Galaxy. Doing a bit of character animation... Extra stuff. The game is there though, and per usual, it's taking longer than we anticipated. We even have an annoying theme song too! I'll get a video capture posted here later this evening, been meaning to something to YouTube for a while anyways...

Funny, I was thinking on the same lines the recently. And then Sonic Shuffle for the Dreamcast came to mind. Not an easy formula to pull off, even if you have a consistent universe of characters to work with. Would be fun to see though.

I was thinking the same thing. Ordered day 1, and haven't received mine yet either. I am sad...

Oh, I forgot to ask. Is their usb paripheral support for the emulator planned? I would love to hook in my USB dance pad and give Dance Dance Revolution a go on my Jaguar.
