  1. Thank you guys for the information. I hope it comes back soon since it is a great site (content and look-wise!) On a shameless plug though, if you rather want to keep writing news and articles about the great Atari 8-bit computers without the burden to keep a website and all the maintenance, PM me as we are looking for more contributors all the time! This is actually open to anyone reading this. Cheers Paulo Garcia http://vintageisthenewold.com
  2. Although I don't speak Spanish (I can read with some google help), I tend to go a lot to Atariteca to check what's new in order to update Vintage is The New Old. I noticed that the site has no updates since January 7th or so. Does anyone here know what is going on? Thanks Paulo Garcia
  3. Coolcrab, maybe that is not your case, but I noticed Visual bB is slow like that when I load a sample file that has too many comments using semicolons. To "fix" that, I open the file using another text editor and replace all ";" to "rem". That woked for me. I hope that helps Paulo Update: Didn't see the answers after posting that woops...
  4. I believe you can find everything at http://7800.8bitdev.org/index.php/Batari_basic Paulo
  5. Hey, nice games. Could you share what Batari kernels did you use to create them? DPC+ ? Thanks Paulo
  6. I am interested in one fully assembled unit, please. Thanks Paulo
  7. I am new to Action! and I am trying to write something using graphic mode 5, for example. I can print to the 4 lines of text mode using the Print() commands, but I cannot position exactly where I can print there. It seems for that mixed graphic+text the position will work only on the graphics window for the plot and others commands. Is there a way to manipulate the text mode window only doing: - Clearing the text - Positioning the cursor to specific row and column. This is a test program: BYTE CH=$2FC BYTE CH1=$2F2 CH=255 graphics(5) DO if CH=47 or CH=111 then position(3,3) PRINTC(CH1) CH=255 fi UNTIL CH=28 OD Thanks! Paulo
  8. Thanks guys. I looked all over the place! I can't believe I didn't see that. THanks a lot! Paulo
  9. HI I've started playing with Action! language and I am impressed so far. One thing that I couldn't find yet is how (or if it is possible) to create standalone programs using Action! or any application made with it cannot be executed without it? I read somewhere that OSS had a runtime library as product, but I am not sure if that is available nowadays. Thanks Paulo
  10. Excellent game! And thanks for releasing the source code! I posted about your game here: http://www.vintageisthenewold.com/priest-john-mcpuke-new-game-for-atari-8-bit-with-source-code/with the hope more people can play it! Cheers Paulo
  11. The game deserved the article, it is very well made. We saw a pretty good response from it which I hope turned to more downloads for you. Cheers Paulo
  12. Hey Mr.Atari, I am writing about your game for a post to be released after you release the game and I was happily surprised how good it is, and also how the game play is similar to my C64 game Mission:Moon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZXWdixf0X4) . My game is coded in BASIC and it is not as sophisticated as yours, but it is interesting to see the same idea better implemented. Nice job! Paulo
  13. Great stuff in there! I made a post here to help make people outside Atariage aware: http://www.vintageisthenewold.com/learn-everything-about-how-to-program-for-the-atari-7800/ If you need anything, let me know Thanks Paulo
  14. Hey Jose', the game looks really good. Do you have an estimated time for the game to be ready/released? If it is for ABBUC compo I suppose it is almost ready , right? Thanks Paulo
  15. Awesome stuff. Thanks for taking the time to do all that! Paulo
  16. Is that a new editor? I don't remember to hear about it, but the About screen shows it was made in 2013... Any other information about it? Thanks Paulo
  17. The proposal looks like is stalled for lack of upvotes. We need more people helping Cheers
  18. The description from this link is wrong. The case is for sure "inspired" by the Atari 1200XL, but the computer is actually a clone of the MPF-II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microprofessor_II) made by Acer (known as Multitech back then). At that time, Brazil had a federal law protecting the local manufacturers, aiming to develop a national computer industry - meaning that it was forbidden by law to legally import any computer that had a similar model made in Brazil. At the end, the closed market was good for the local industry just to *clone* computer without any fear of lawsuits of any kind, for afaik there is no microcomputer develop in Brazil from the ground up (minicomputers are a different story though). The TK-2000 could run Applesoft BASIC programs, but wasn't fully compatible with the Apple II+. As you can see, only the look resembles an Atari computer, but it has nothing to do with it. Although not related to Atari at all, another interesting case of mix-and-match cloning is the CP-400, which is a TRS-80 CoCo II using a case "inspired" by a Timex Sinclair 2068 - this is actually my first computer Cheers
  19. Hi , is out still possible to find these magazines? Thanks Paulo
  20. Hi, that's is great and being in Ottawa even better. I'm interested for sure! How can I get it? if you want you can email me directly to [email protected] Thanks Paulo
  21. Hi I'm looking to buy a Basic Rev. C cartridge for my Atari 400. It is currently a sleeping beauty (or beast?) since I don't have any cartridge and the 410 tape doesn't work. My main interest is in programming so I'm looking for a BASIC cartridge to be able to start playing a bit with it. Since I'm Ottawa/Ontario/Canada, the closer you are the better. Please let me know if you have one and the conditions. Thanks Paulo
