  1. Henshin Engine, a homebrew for PC Engine that is currently undergoing a kickstarter campaign, added a stretch goal that will be a port of the game to dreamcast if its met. If you guys want another 2d action platformer for the dreamcast back this campaign and if it hits the stretch goal you'll get your wish https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sarumaru/henshin-engine-the-game-pc-engine-tg-16-pc-steam
  2. The F-Zero clone is a very very very impressive tech demo, not much of a game though just on track score attack and a straight track at that, not a twisting F-Zero style track.
  3. A word of advice about that board - they do not respond well to new users making WTB threads, I would suggest hitting up Keith Kourage directly with a PM or reading the trading threads and PMing one of the other system modders on there. MNKYdeth, Turbokon, and a few others are alternatives to Kieth but it sounds like he's the best (I got my Duo-R from Turbokon)
  4. Developing for hucard and cd are completely different - it would be a minor porting job to move it from hucard to cd, but to move from cd down to hucard would be very involved. Also, the ROM limits on hucards are insane, so you will see much more simplistic homebrews for that unless it's coming from a master level programmer.
  5. I impulse bought a tv to mount above my desk in my home office this weekend, holiday sale and salesman got me, but when I got it home to my disgust the tv had no component or AV inputs! I was flabbergasted, as my fiance mocked me for being concerned with my 1980's video games playing on this 4k tv, and frantically checked the tv's documentation and reviews. The tv came with two stereo minipug dongles that convert to component and av respectively, so I immediately hooked up my PC engine to check it out. To my surprise it looked really good - maybe because this 4k TV already has a good scaler built in to make all content display on it correctly, considering there is next to no 4k content (nor do I have any 4k capable devices..) Anyways, after turning on game mode, and adjusting some settings, it looked pretty danm decent and played just fine. It's no replacement for the game room's CRT, but when I want to test a homebrew or distract myself with a classic at my desk that's still at least a slight option. How long those stereo miniplug ports will hold up is another question all together. I am still on the fence about returning the tv because of the lack of 4k content and devices, and the lack of component/rca inputs.
  6. Today a kickstarter went up for a new PC engine / turbo grafx homebrew - they already have a pretty good base for the game with a nice playable demo. It plays like a mix between shockman and valis. Not every day a decent new turbo homebrew pops up. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sarumaru/henshin-engine-the-game-pc-engine-tg-16-pc-steam?ref=nav_search
  7. I'm sold I need to get my nes working better, my games are pretty damn clean, most opened up and scrubbed to shit, but my nes is my least played system simply because it's so frustrating to load games on it. I am going to open it up and mod it for the extra sound channel and stereo, then fix the pins and jam a powerpak/everdrive in it, and never touch that setup again hahah
  8. Pm sent for a game I have been dieing to play on my genesis, thanks! Edit: have you tried using a game genie to unlock wily tower? I am down to use the game genie as pseudopassword system to pickup where I left off
  9. Bump for a great laptop, I have a slightly older model and still use it to play better than ps3-360 quality games, development using udk/unreal 4, modeling in zbrush and maya, large image editing in photoshop, and basically any task I do at my work computer. I dock it into a second monitor, it is my main rig and works great for everything I throw at it. Highly recommended lappy, for a great price.
  10. Kato Chan and Ken Chan is my favorite so far, and Samurai Ghost. Not to mention the Bonk series, and Pac-Land.
  11. Good to see you back and things are going well PM Sent about the Sansui Controllers and the 6 Button Sega Arcade Sticks
  12. Cyber core looks cool, I have yet to play it. With so many shewties on the system, I would venture to say that it's not the best on the system but that judgment is purely speculative. There are just so many awesome shooters. I really enjoy Heavy Unit, Blazing Lazers, Paranoia, and Final Soldier.
  13. Mine was unresponsive and very very loud when using it, so I took it completely apart cleaned it as best I could. It became more responsive, but the noise returned after a half our of use or so. I think it may just be a problem with the design, but I would love to hear a suggestion on how to alleviate it. The innards of the stick are functionally identical to the gamepad, it's just a form factor change. I am looking into getting tototek adapters to use a microswitch stick on the system. Austin sold me a Namco ps1 stick, and after using that it's been really hard for me to go back to this Genesis stick (which I grew up with) and the NES/SNES advantages (same, grew up with these)
  14. Do you know if the caps were ever replaced? Even if the system is not in use, the caps could break and go bad over time. I would open it up and check for any leaky caps, the system likely needs repairs.
  15. This reminds me of when everyone panicked when Sega used Windows CE on the Dreamcast. Like Austin said, the OS will likely be indistinguishable, and it's so far off and so well supported compared to Roku and Ouya, it's really apples and oranges. The fact that the dev tools are Android based should get people excited to see ports of third party titles, as most engines are now supporting Android, and the libraries on the NX will allow for porting a lot easier than the Wii U. I think this is a great idea, and makes me really excited about the next console. Or rather, I was excited. Still interested, but I hope they develop the system with making it more open to ports than their previous platforms.
  16. Awesome video, same production values (elite) as Sega Channel, and I always look forward to a new release. Thanks for taking the time to make these, they're great. Like Jib' said, currently these have to be imported to be affordable. I recently picked up PC Denjin for 35$ shipped on EBay, but like OP said, if I were to try and track down a US release I would have to drop a significantly larger chunk of change, main difference being cow form instead of robo-breasts, apparently. I am obviously ignorant to the differences between US and JP release, so when I watched this video I was surprised to hear that cow-powerup tidbit, and I would be very interested to hear more of the differences between regions. Is the cow power up the only large difference? I do think that in TG-16 retrospective videos, like the fantastic one you made here, would benefit greatly by discussing differences in regional releases considering the massive chasm of a price difference between PCE and TG-16 - a lot of people like my self will import to make this game a possible addition to the library, and likely would have to do with many TG-16 games (Neutopia? 90% cheaper on PCE than TG16 right now).
  17. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D has not been turned off since I got it digitally. I've been trying to catch up to where I left off on the Wii version. I am finding a lot more quests, and being a lot more attentive to my affinity this time, so it's going a bit slower than last time - and I only got 50% through with 60 hours of game played on that last attempt. I am enjoying it, but the port is a bit shoddy. Very blurry UI elements and textures as a whole. Draw distance is still nice, and the gameplay is not affected much. Still recommended, but not the best version of Xenoblade for sure.
  18. Last night I was playing Street Fighter 2 CE on my TG-16 for the first time, and was blown away. I really expected a down-port, but I had a hard time garnering negative points while comparing it to the the SNES version I am so used to. I really liked the color pallet, there was very little abnormal slowdown (especially when compared to the SNES version,) and the controls were responsive albeit awkward with a 2 button controllers; I have a 6 button Hori Fighting Commander on the way, and can't wait to try it out with a proper controller. I think this is a great game to exemplify what can be done with the system. With the games I had for the TG-16 at the time (Bonks, Keith Courage, Tailspin LOL etc), I would never have thought the system could put out this kind of game. I would say we got the short end of the stick here in the US, but I didn't even flex the power of the US library back then. I've recently been playing a lot of Blazing Lazers... wow, what a game. Blazing Lazers would've blown my young mind, so I'm not sure if I should be regretful or thankful that my parents kept my library full of simpler games like Pac-Land and Parasol Stars hahaha
  19. When playing Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, and Parasol Stars I often think that it is a 16 bit system. It runs so smooth with so much going on, the magic this system weaves given its hardware is the main draw for me at this point. I feel like everything that is good on the system runs so smoothly and has such large spriites, hard to believe it's less powerful than the Genesis.
  20. o.pwuaioc offered a game to me months and months ago, we lost touch and did not discuss the trade until very recently. He then reminded me that he had been holding this game for multiple months, and that he would still sell it to me for what we had talked about prior. He packed it excessivly well and shipped it very fast. o.pwuaioc is one of the nicest guys I've met on these forums, and deserves anyones trust and business. Thanks so much, this transaction was really appreciated.
  21. These? http://www.amazon.com/Taiyo-Yuden-JVC-80min-Silver/dp/B00065DGYQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431735122&sr=8-1&keywords=taiyo+yuden+disc
  22. They're going to give out gold Amiibos, but they will be out of stock so only the employees running the competition will get them. You can buy them on EBay though, lucky for us.
