Somewhat off topic, but I first played this on the TurboGrafx 16 and most other versions have been a disappointment after that.

sounds to me that something spilled into the controller, and the contacts on the buttons are not clean enough to consistently make contact. Before jumping to any conclusions, I'd recommend a complete clean on the controller (board and membranes)

The Official Turbografx 16 Thread!
Gredler replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I got a TG-16 when the price dropped on the system during its era, and I loved to play it. The turbo controllers were a huge draw for me for some reason, and I really enjoyed the games I had. Fantasy Zone, Parasol Stars, Vigilante, Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, Tail Spin, Pac-Land, and the first two Bonks. I could never afford or justify gettting a Duo or a CD sysem, and I never found "bargain bin" games so I was pretty much stuck with teh games I had. The games have never turned up or been affordable, so since then I've only gotten a few more. Blazing Lasers would've blown my mind, but I am glad to have it now and enjoy it more than the other games I've gotten since I had the game as a child. Second most surprising, that I wish I had as a kid, is TV-Sports hockey. Pre-dating EA's Genesis hockey games I was blown away by how playable and fun this hockey game is. If you're a hockey fan who enjoyed the 90's hockey games, and want a cheap game for your Turbo, do not pass up TV-Sports Hockey! I also have gotten (and since beaten) Ninja Spirit. I am not sure I would have liked it as a kid, but I really enjoyed it a few weekends ago. Lastly I've picked up Legendary Axe. A very fun and addicting game, but punishing and difficult. Overall I have to say this is a niche system for a few types of games and gamers, but that being said there is a lot of fun to be had with the system. Welcome to the club, enjoy your stay! I could get you Mario Bro's DX - what are you offering to trade?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but can't a US system play MegaDrive games with a Game Genie? The genie allows the cart to fit physically without modding the case, region locked games can work with a code entry, and games that aren't region locked can be played without a code. Couldn't the OP get a mega drive game genie, or equivalent, to play Genesis games on the mega drive? That being said. I do think a Genesis w/ a game genie is the better option. I would imagine the op' would have more US games than JP. Interesting topic though, I've often wanted to get JP versions of my consoles, but in the end have found adapters or mods to be the cost and space efficient option for me.

Can you confirm what the game on badbreaker is? If you want people to be surprised, you can pm me the answer. Thanks!

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or somewhere else, but the other night I had quite the out-run-riffic evening. I recently traded away some of my games to get a hold of Outrun on Genesis, and I also picked up Outrun 2019. To be on topic, I had to trade a game that is going on ebay for about 20$ for this copy of outrun, complete with manual and box. Outrun 2019 complete was about 10$ in trade value. Having not played a ton of Outrun, outside of Arcades here and there as a kid, and on Mastersystem. I was fairly familiar with the game and wanted to try out what I had heard was the inferior sequel/spin-off, Outrun 2019. I should start off by saying that I've never been good racing games. The Outrun/Enduro style linear driving games have been the only ones I pick up and play repeatedly and get anywhere in, saving for maybe Mario Kart and Wacky Racers. My impression of 2019 was amazing right off the bat. A friend of mine was over, and we had a great chuckle seeing the world as it will be in 4 years. The design of the vehicle, and the art as a whole, was really cool and stylish. While the level design was not as open as outrun, the branching paths were nice and encouraged us to play a second time after finishing our first play through. what really blew my mind was the verticality in the levels. Jumping over trees, driving under or jumping up onto overpasses, and the clear bridges with no guard rails. Really impressive stuff that I was not expecting. I jumped onto regular outrun after completing a playthrough of 2019 on easy, and honestly I was a little let down. Still fun, and I enjoyed the graphics and sound, but after playing through 2019 I was amazed that people are as down on that game as they are. I'd say give it a shot, if you haven't. I can see why outrun is holding value, but don't understand why 2019 is not.

I traded two of the gold marios and was able to get a rosolina, and a hori n64 controller I preordered what I could from gamestop today, got 2 nes amiibos (keeping both, one to open one to display boxed next to my boxed earthbound) and all of the rest that are not exclusive. I am going to try to get jiggly puff and greeninja, but doubt I will be able to. I don't want them enough to bend over backwards to get them.

I was able to get an extra Gold Mario if anyone is still looking. I picked it up in hopes I could trade it with someone for one of the ones I am missing, I got one to open, one to keep "collectible" and the extra to trade, http://i.imgur.com/rRayT7u.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FJMZCIL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/gTWWIbT.jpg I am looking for these, in order of most wanted to least wanted Rosolina Villager Little Mac Shulk Pit Marth Captain Falcon Meta Knight Wii Fit Trainer King Dedede Lucario

What Genesis game are you playing right now?
Gredler replied to MagitekAngel's topic in Sega Genesis
I've been trying my hand at Lightening Force again. Hard to beat, I am not the best at these kind of games, but man I'd like to see this one through to the end. The background art is amazing, I'd love to see an art breakdown on how they did it. What a blast though, becoming one of my favorite genesis games. -
I hadn't checked back since they first posted it, and yeah the art has already improved dramatically. Hopefully they can implement even more of the classic game's style, and fix the wonky 2d characters on 3d backdrop perspective issues. TJ&E is my favorite Genesis games, and in my top 10 favorite overall games for sure, so I have mixed feelings about it considering the look of this one and the second two outings after the first one. The developers explanation of publisher influence to the design of the second two games is encouraging, but the look of what they have so far is not. Improving, but still scary that they might further trash the legacy.

I hate to be so judgmental but the the background art does not appeal to me at all. I feel like it lost all of the style it had on genesis

My Super Nes has been through hell and back and works fine. There are a lot of ways of cleaning the system, which sounds like what you need to do and is likely the cause. these systems are tanks, and take a lot of abuse to break them. First off get some compressed air and blow out all the orifices of the devices to remove loose dirt. Second get some isopropyl alcohol, the higher percentage concentrate the better, I use 91%. Get some cotton swabs and a microfiber cloth. Use the alcohol on the swab/cloth and clean out anyhting that needs to make a metal connection (video port, ac port, controller ports) and then do the same to the cartridge slot and cartridges. Most often these old systems won't work because they're dirty, and the metal bits aren't making a good connection due to the dirt/corroson. I recommend using a credit card wrapped in a microfiber cloth with some 91% isopropyl alcohol to clean the pins on the cartridge slot. There are a lot of threads here, youtube videos, and other resources that will show you what I am talking about and agree with me, but there are also openions that say there are better ways to clean the contacts. Regardless, try cleaning before assuming anything is broken. Use the search function on this forum, or google, and you'll get a lot better advice than I give you here

Darryl sold me two games at a great price, shipped them well packed and super fast, and they were in awesome condition. He was super cool to deal with, and would hope to do business again. Thanks man!

If you see them in the wild you should buy them (for the hard to find ones like Pit, Little Mac, etc) because they're already valued so high you can resell them instantly for more than what you paid for them. I think this is a problem right now, and I hate to encourage it, but that's the mindset everyone else has I believe. I've never seen a "rare" amiibo in the wild, and have talked to a lot of people who buy them all when they find them because they know they can make literally 10x their investment back (at best) and at worst, double their $14 investment. I hope nintendo floods the market with "rare" amiibos so that they devalue back down to msrp, because scalpers are all over this market right now and it's discouraging to people who want to buy them for use, not for flipping.

You're right, I am only a member of this forum for now, and that is because everyone here has been so cool to me, so thanks for that everyone. Reading the edit: negativity towards newcomers on other forums of other sites turned me away from posting there and trying to get involved in their communities. As a still new member (almost a year, but I'd still consider myself a nub) I can say that I would always offer to pay/send first to members with much longer track records. Spam and scam posts would detract me from coming here, so I can understand the backlash to a certain degree. I am in no way defending this person, but I can relate to being new and naive to online forum trading, and wanted to help the person see that what they were offering is unreasonable.

I believe the post was intended as sarcasm. I wish there was more acceptance to new members of the community, because this honestly sounds like a case of naivety, and you simply don't know the value of the items your asking for and offering. I hope no one else piles on, good luck finding the items you're looking for.
