  1. Never had any of these when they came out, but of this list, I am a big fan of Mangia. Weird concept for a game, but I found it fun and challenging.
  2. The thing many people don't realize is that porn and adult material were not as restricted in some regards back then. Although HBO couldn't play rated R movies until after 10pm, I remember 7-11 and Mom & Pop convenience stores sold not only Playboy, but Penthouse, Hustler, and many other magazines that are not around anymore. Right there next to comic books in many cases. It was not hard to get those if you wanted them. It was also common to go to a repair shop for work on your car, and see porn on the walls. Whether it be a calendar with bare breasts or straight up centerfolds. The backwards "morality" that the religious zealots have forced on us since the Carter era is why now even Cosmo has to be bagged to make sure little Timmy doesn't see any side boob.
  3. I don't find I need everything hooked up all the time, so what I have ready to go is Xbox one, 2600 jr and Ouya (which is used for emulation). Other systems are on display while not in use.
  4. You were supposed to throw those at a ring?
  5. There are no screws, no glue in the wizard carts. Just grab the cart shell on either side of the board and pull it apart. Not much force required, so don't overdo it.
  6. Didn't have the BSG viper. I did have the BSG "Viper Launch Station"? That was a sweet toy. My brother had the Eagle and the gun from Space 1999. We thought the show was pretty boring, but the Eagle is a sweet looking ship.
  7. This looks legit to me. For the sake of reference, these carts have no screw, and can be opened pretty easily by hand.
  8. The thing that sold us on Mazinga was that it was loaded with missiles that we could shoot at each other. The End. That toy had literally a dozen missiles I think and you could load three into the hand at once. And it was huge.
  9. Thanks Random. Great site! Here's the page from Sears 1977 Catalog introducing the Tele-Games Pages 4-11 show all the swank consoles, systems and electronic games of the era. On page 11 there's "Tin Can Alley" shooting game that a friend of mine had. Haven't though about this is years. http://www.wishbookweb.com/FB/1977_Sears_Wishbook/files/assets/basic-html/page-4.html Shogun Warriors! My brother and I both had Mazinga due to awesome hand missile launcher. http://www.wishbookweb.com/FB/1977_Sears_Wishbook/files/assets/basic-html/page-567.html Six Million Dollar Man - 572&573 http://www.wishbookweb.com/FB/1977_Sears_Wishbook/files/assets/basic-html/page-572.html 1978 Star Wars toys - pgs 621&622 http://www.wishbookweb.com/FB/1979_Sears_Wishbook/files/assets/basic-html/page-620.html
  10. When the NES came out I remember not caring one bit. Lots of little kids had NES, but the good games for it came out later. Sure SMB was out not long after release, but aside from arcade ports, (which I had many of on other systems), not much on NES that I wanted to play until '87/88 was when stuff like Metroid, Tyson Punch Out, Castlevania 2 hit. I did enjoy some of the games in this era.
  11. Probably because of when they were released. They are good games, and not as many were made as other games on 2600. Most of the 2600 games are very common, and ones that aren't are getting pretty pricey.
  12. Yeah, Superman has to be right. Right around the time the same time the movie with Chris Reeves came out.
  13. Looking good! I like to see the old computers getting some love.
  14. I'd love to snag some Ikea stuff, but there isn't one anywhere near me. That $159 shelf linked above would cost $349 to ship.
  15. If I had 2600 and these 100 carts, I'd be pretty satisfied. Not many stinkers and a lot of really great ones.
  16. If it's stretched, it's really not by much. I looked for video, and ones that are emulated can look stretched for sure. Here's one captured from an actual c64. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TBkOtDoaBs The look of the levels, the graphics (even if slightly stretched) are way closer to the arcade than 2600, Intellivision or Colecovision either. Even the ocean version that came years later looked squashed, and the graphics were not as close to arcade. Anyway, as I said, c64 Atarisoft one was the best at the time when DK was at it's peak and people were buying it on many systems.
  17. I too had no real issues with the 2600 port of DK. It was pretty good! The Intellivision version was the worst. The console version we thought was the best was the colecovision (although the barrel level was a little backwards). The best one (hands down) available at home in that era was the C64 version. To our eyes it was just like the arcade.
  18. Signing the label is destroying it just as much as writing "little Timmy" on it. If it's a copy of Adventure you have signed, it may increase the value cause hey, it's Warren Robinett, and Adventure is cool. Same for having HSW sign E.T. You're using a cart vs some other material to write on, so the value goes from maybe a few bucks for a crappy cart to whatever an HSW autograph costs + crappy cart. On an actual collectible cart with some kind of real rarity and money value you're screwing yourself. Fake autographs are a real problem in the memorabilia business, and frankly, I wouldn't pay any real money for one that isn't authenticated. Many, many people still won't care who signed it. You screwed up the cart.
  19. Those retcon things are total crap. And, just because there was an auction for broken looking 2600 for $45 doesn't mean people will buy it for that price
  20. Nintendo really wanted Atari to distribute the NES. It almost happened!
  21. Wow, really well done! The concept of this game just cracks me up, but can't imagine that I'd sit there for 8 hours.
  22. I don't understand the logic either from Atarifriend. There was $99 BIN. He's not looking to get a fortune, just $99. Whether reseller or just regular joe with $99, what's the diff?
  23. Well shit, I would have paid $99 if I'd seen this before pulled down. Would have gone right in my stash!
  24. It's a low-res picture of Nelson from The Simpsons. "Ha-ha" indeed. Oh well, it will be released at some point.
  25. Wow, I would have never found that! Thanks Miss. I am going to play it ASAP.
