  1. What the heck was Sega thinking? Were they trying to license movie titles that absolutely could not have been decent games? Airplane! for crying out loud!
  2. Holy crap! I was bidding on one of those earlier today. That one ended at $15.50.
  3. Ok, this is going to drive me bonkers. I had a toy computer when I was a kid (early 80s). It was cream/tan colored, ran on 6-8 AA batteries, and was entirely cartridge based. The carts went into a slot underneath the screen area, and the slot was similar to the Genesis 1 slot with protective doors that would spring in and out to keep dust away. Cartridges were brown-ish (I think), thin and rectangular. Each cart came with an overlay for the keyboard that slid in just over the keys. It was not a color display, and the graphics were fairly blocky. The motif of the system was usually a running man, similar in style to the guy in Mattel/Intellivision games. Help!
  4. Rights issues to both will probably prevent them from being in collections like these.
  5. I'm going to write up a full review of this on my site while I'm at work on Monday, but overall I'm really pleased with this. The layout is indeed different (and better) than the PC version. Plus you get to upload your scores to Xbox Live... which really adds to the replay value. Still... emulation is wonky in some cases. Blackjack, for instance, has sounds that seem to be only half as fast as they were in the cartridge.
  6. Now I was a hardcore gamer before, during, and after this period of time. But there's something I still don't understand about The Great Video Game Crash. According to many accounts, the "glut" of cheap games on the market contributed to the crash. So, were gamers going into stores, buying these cheaper carts, coming home and being so disappointed in the cheap game that they bought that they abandoned video gaming and the industry collapsed? I always remembered some games were better than others, naturally, but even as a kid I knew to stick to Atari, Activision, Imagic, etc to get the quality stuff. If sales of all these cheap crappy games is what caused the crash, then how come every auction and garage sale has an Atari unit with almost nothing but all the big name games? None of these people have Firefly or Racquetball... they have Starmaster, Dig Dug, Demon Attack... all the common biggies. If a glut of cheap crap ruined everything, why is the cheap unplayable crap so rare today?
  7. I don't get any of this. If someone is so offended that the Flashback unit isn't up to snuff, get thyself to Ebay and buy the old games. That way you get exactly what you want and don't give your "enemy" any green. Why waste even one keystroke complaining about it? The most powerful statement you can make is with your wallet.

Wow, who knew that the SMS ran on pretty colored snowflakes? Awwwwww.
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5138476823&rd=1 Geez no kidding... try and at least wipe off one layer of dirt before taking a pic.
  11. So does it have the same video extras as the PC version? Same menus and layout?
  12. No one has this yet? Why the indifference towards this release?
  13. Totally sweet! But dude, you gotta upgrade that TV!
  14. I think it has a lot to do with how you have them displayed. I've always loved my games, but there was a period of time when I had to have them all boxed up. Out of sight, out of mind... I never played them. Then I started putting them on display... taking advantage of shelving... making them look sexy. Now I'm playing 'em again. I make sure that the games I just "collect" are behind the ones I actually play.
  15. I thought I was hardcore when I was a young gamer... aware of everything on the market. But what the heck is this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8146630542&rd=1
  16. Then you can turn around and sell them off with the same vague listing, I guess.
  17. Not my lamp, but I might bid... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...6131633571&rd=1
  18. Well, a sealed Gremlins though... that's kinda nice?
  19. See, I kinda want a Flashback also... even though I have the means to play the real carts. It's just so odd/neat. I know everyone hates it... boo Flashback, etc. But it's so tiny! I too am hoping that the Anthology will appease me.
  20. Atari Anthology for Xbox is supposedly out today... PS2 version next week. Anyone seen this one or picked it up yet?
  21. Nice haul for someone looking to start a collection with "brand new" stuff: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW
  22. You should still be able to get a code for a game at http://www.animal-crossing.com/ also.
  23. Unless Trey Parker has lied to me, isn't tulip the Japanese word for fart?
  24. Why is it so easy to build a massive Genesis collection for mere pennies? Is it because they are so common? It seems difficult to build a NES or SNES collection, but aside for a handful of Genesis games you can pretty much get them all quickly and cheaply.
